  1. True but in his first GP, where some of the other young riders were hit by nerves in a big way (Lindback for example), its good to see that Chris was nearly a Semi final contender on a track that on first glance would not have suited him.
  2. I think you will find that was the Italian in Heat 11 Well done Nicki, easily the best rider of the night. Good to see Bomber not disgraced. Really enjoyed the first GP, lookng forward to the next now, for a poor GP there was certainly some entertainment and some great racing.
  3. Must admit I am really looking forward to the GP series this year. the racing so far this season looked almost okay untill you see some of the GP racing. I was one who preferred the one off world final, but with the current racing standards THANK GOD for the SGP. No disrespect intended to the riders, but we now have one race with the front two riders and IF we are lucky we get another race at the back but not 3 or 4 riders all battling for the same race win. At least in the GP every fortnight you are more likely to get top racing in 50% of the races. I thought that this is what the ELITE league was meant to be when it was introduced way back when... Does any one agree?
  4. What happened exactly between NP and OO? I missed the live footage on the video recorder and was in the stands so have never seen this? its not on the re run I dont think which is what I recorded? Anyone fancy posting a link of the footage or something? Cheers Rich
  5. So lets look to the future rather than the past!
  6. Good format Desie but the Aussies would not like it one bit!!!!!
  7. Mr Berthoven, Ron, if I may be so forward.... You are probably correct. I am thinking more recently, middle to late nineties when if I recall correctly England did not win, but the Aussies and Swedes did, possibly the Americans too for that matter. Was this the format before we moved to the current format? It may well have been two types of meetings were amalgamated into one - World Pairs and team cup etc. Shortly before the obviously dangerous 5 riders in a race fiasco. Rich
  8. Agree, that way a team with a weaker rider can have a better chance. EG Hancock and Janirro, in a race Greg may have been able to help BJ around. Would certainly be a better fromat. Wasn't this the format originally?
  9. Probably some new born - Nicholls, Stead and Harris will never be quite good enough. Loram never won in 2000 even although he got the GP title. It could be absolutely anyone! Possibly they don't even exist yet!
  10. In the mix - not "mixing it" as per my post. Hans is on top form and is always there or thereabouts. Dependable. Perhaps if he hadn't missed out on the GP this year this would not be the case? Half hearted racer - perhaps a bit OTT then, but certainly not a patch on the big boys and not a reliable or magnificent number 1.
  11. Gollob has peaked and is on his way back down again unfortunately. Still some signs of brilliance but they seem to be quite rare now. IMO he was better on his way up to teh top of his form than at the moment (on his way back down). As you say though - a thouroughly entertaining rider - when he is in a bit of form.
  12. Sorry but Loram - as a good a rider as he is - is like putting Hamill back in the GP series or Wiltshire. I think you need to go forward now and leave dead wood behind. Lets face it - how many years can Loram go for taking age etc into account. What next - andy smith back in for his 1 or 2 points ech week. In my opinion (thats an open opportunity to smash my opionion by the way?!?!?) get rid of pepe, and Richardson and bring some new blood through. Bomber Harris can do no worse than Richardson if you MUST have a British rider, I would prefer to see Rune Holta in than Richardson. Gollob has passed it now too. The GP needs a refresh over the winter to get it to the top of its game.
  13. IMO Nicholls is a half hearted racer - This from a all time Cov fan too! HOWEVER Anderson should have been excluded, he was leaning all over Nicholls and frankly deserved to hit the deck! Andersen however rode the line that he felt best and it paid off for him - I personally like Hans Andersen, he is NOT afraid to get in the the mix of the racing which I think many riders tend to duck out of. Nicholls should not have been exluded for the reasons given in the studio - he was riding a normal lne whilst HA was hanging off the bike and without Nicholls would have landed right on his ar$e anyway becaue his line was all wrong. Bad luck Scotty - but its not all about luck - one day you will get to a final on oyur racing rather than luck!
  14. Really pleased to see AJ win at GP level, Its about time for a rider with the ability that Andreas has got. If you are ever in the position to FULLY commit to a UK elite league team I would love to see you back at Coventry however untill that time - good luck in the Gps beacuae frankly we dont want you! Mind you, you are by a VERY long way a far superior rider in class and proffesionalism to Nicholls! Well done AJ
  15. Must admit that the time I went to Parken for the Danish GP (Couple of years ago now) we sat on the 1st/2nd bend centrally and on second tier. Was a fairly good sized group of guys. It was a bit rowdy and every time the crowd on that bend was shown, there appeared to be a marshall/security either on their way or in the middle of trying to calm the fans down. Wouldn't have fancied taking the wife to Parken after that! Shame if the crowd has dropped at all but in all fairness I would prefer to go to a 'proper' track or at least a GP in a slightly cheaper country. After all, most only go for the match and have a quick turn around - maybe 1 day and the 1 night, rather than going for the beutifull scenary etc.
  16. Did anyone notice the lack of the countdown clock at Parken last night? I did not spot it at all and did notice a chap who appeared to have got the new job of 'Showing a piece of paper with 10 seconds to go on it' Did any one else see this?
