That cuts both ways Tsunami . Severall Poole posters have been stretching the flimsiest of arguments to justify the situation. It all boils down to two basic points .The first, as has been said several times already is that Ford has such a poor reputation amongst fans because of his past record that people are now understandably suspicious of his every move. Certain questions are bound to be left hanging in the air, and the more a handful from Poole try to justify it the more others will voice the same suspicions. . Some including yourself have been quite offensive. The second point is I don't think anyone is a Poole hater. They are simply suspicious of Ford and his sidekick Middleditch based on past record..fans in general are loyal to their own clubs and don't begrudge other clubs success when achieved fairly . There is rarely a large groundswell of resentment towards whichever clubs win the play off except Poole and that is down to the attitude of its promoter, the stupid comments of its team manager on social media, and some of the garbage people like Starman post. There is no equivalent in any other club because there is no promotional equivalent of Ford, no team manager rants off the way Middleditch does , and nobody else posts the sort of self righteous stuff that Sarman and a few others post. It he best thing the Poole posters can do is to stop their attempts to justify things, and I doubt that anyone else wil pursue the matter until more is known but by constantly banging on they won't change anyone's mind, only make matters worse.

How do you know the reason why his performance at Coventry was poor ? A couple of weeks earlier he rode at Lakeside and all he mbeat was an NL rider and a PL reserve. That was before his father was injured. On his previous visit tto Lakeside he scored Exc, 3,3,R. Therefore the scores suggest he was running into a spell of poor form. Of course the scores never tell the whole story, I accept that but as we all know when a rider hits bad form he looks for reasons and the reasons in his mind are not necessarily the actual reasons, not just with Dak but with every rider until they work through it. He was replaced by Ed Kennett who had spent almost the whole season as a Heatleader whose average had temporarily dropped as they all do in the present format , but at the time he replaced North w as scoring well again for Lakeside and had been banging in 15 and 18 point maximums for Rye House so there is no way he can be said to be an inferior rider at the time he guested at Poole.
-
That's a good point. He would presumably be going home I a couple of weeks anyway. The only reason for not going would be for the possibly. once in a lifetime chance of riding in the play-offs.

Why is it double standards ? If you want to attack my posts specifically , as opposed to quoting sectioned parts them out of context I am quite happy to defend them. The fact that no complaint was made ar the time speaks for itself It doesn't alter to fact that the three posts I quoted of yours and two others were not quoted out of context and were nothing more than abuse, with no attempt to deal with the merits of the discussion.
-
I wouldn't dream of attacking you, only attacking your posts. I have asked you to name the posters you describe as idiots but you refuse to be specific so we can only guess who you may or may not be referring to and they are unable to defend the allegation. As to your posts generally the point you have conststenty chosen to ignore and which I and others have pointed out perfectly civilly is that there is no way to prove specifically whether Ford was cheating but whether he was taking advantage of an the situation to bring in a more in form rider is open to debate. Your posts have consistently missed the point by trying to narrow it down to the black and white question of whether Ford fabricated or lied about the alleged injuries to Daks father, when what several posters have pointed out with perfect clarity is that the issue is that Ford has such a shady history that nobody out side of Poolem knows what to believe . Most fans regard everything that comes out of Fords mouth with the same suspicion. Now you can call me a tool if you like but you are wasting your time because it is like water off a ducks back. my posts on this thread have attracted quite a few "likes" so a number of others agree with them . Severall other posters have, as I said posted on very similar lines to myself so there is quite a unified opinion which you seem only to be able to deal with by abuse.. Call me whatever names you like but that won't change anything, and won't alter people's opinion of Ford, or for that matter, of yourself. ,
-
As always, when the Poole mafia are unable to attack the post intelligently they start throwing insults and abuse.
-
You cant escape the fact that the stench has been hanging around for years. Only the names have changed http://www.skysports.com/speedway/news/12268/5351198/poole-cheating-claims-denied

Whichever way you look at it and whatever words you use to excuse it, the fact remains that whether it was right or wrong on this occasion, you cant separate it from past history and the present poor state of health of the sport. If it were not for Fords shady past and this were a one off episode I doubt whether much would be said but when you have someone with Fords history you reach a tipping point where people have had enough and the glamour and excitement of the sport gets tarnished. The average punter doesn't go round examining the rules in microscopic detail. they just think "oh no not again" and a few more walk away each time.. There is a difference between the letter of the law and the spirit of the law . Ford may or may not have broken the rules this time but he doesn't approach the sport in the spirit of the game.

Surely it depends on what the certificate says and the circumstances. There is a world of difference between being directly (although innocently ) involved in an accident in which a riders nearly dies and literally seeing his life saved by a medic before your very eyes, which would be enough to shake anyone, and a family member being injured on the other side of the world in what was admitted to be a serious but non-life threatening injury. As GRW 123 says we all know that the medical certificate system is abused by all clubs at times. The cause for suspicion his that Ford has a history as long as your arm of different kinds of stunts, many of which have already been listed on this thread.
-
Nope . wasn't quoting your post as an example. In fact it didn't even cross my mind, so no fingers pointed at you as far as I am concerned.
-
I am not asking you to worry for me I am simply asking you for the forth time to name the names of those who in your opinion are the forum idiots. To put it another way round, I would say the idiots are those who make extravagant claims then duck and dive instead of giving a straight answer when challenged, which is what you are starting to do now. Idiocy is not ,I limited to those outside Poole. Red Panda made a complete idiot of herself before she suddenly went quiet, and I think most would agree that Starman is where the buses don't run.. As said before, the issue is that Ford has such a disreputable history that we have reached the point that nobody believes a word he says. I doubt that I that anybody could specifically prove he was cheating on this occasion but I doubt that anybody could prove he has not manipulated the situation either. It is just yet another distasteful event with. Ford at the bottom of, it, like the. TtHJ, episode, like the Joe Screen episode and plenty of others that is turning fans off the sport. Most people are not Poole haters, they just like to see a reasonable degree of fair play.

Copied from the online dictionary definition of sport :- "an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment" Nothing there about looking after your own. The operative word is entertainment. When it become win at all costs and don't care how you do it, then it ceases to become entertainment. Declining crowds are proof of that fact, Ford is not the whole problem, it goes much wider than that but he is quite a serious spanner in the works.
-
It is a perfectly civil and simple question which you seem singularly unwilling to answer, just as Red Panda seems unable and unwilling to answer an equally civil and simple question'
-
Well who are the usual idiots as opposed the the rest ? The point is that the main thrust of virtually every non-Poole post is that Ford has pulled so m any underhand staunts in the past nobody believes anything h e says anymore. You seem to agree that his past record is shady at best, so why are people idiots for jumping on this point? On top of that we have Poole supporter Red Pnda making the quite offensive comment that other promoters sit on their backsides waiting for the world to come to them . That is about as stupid a comment as anything else on the thread
-
But by trying to tell us that the thread is Poole supporters against the Idiots you have included me as one of the idiots when all I have done is to ask a perfectly simple and civil question, which neither you nor Red Panda have been able to answer. I would suggest that when you call people idiots Red Panda needs to be included if she makes sweeping generalisations she can't back up.
-
The usual Poole response . Unable to deal with a post on merits so turn to name calling. Let's be clear .Red Panda has made a specific claim that some promoters other than Matt Ford sit on their backsides and and wait for t the world to come to them . I have simply asked her to name the promoters she is referring to. It's not a difficult question and it's not a rude question, but instead of getting an answer all that has been posted is your name calling that those who challenge Poole are idiots. I think your response and Red Pandas lack of one tells us all we need to know about the Poole Mafia.
-
Since you are such a stickler for the truth, perhaps you can name names to back up your claim that some promoters ((presumably you mean EL) sit on their backsides expecting the would to come to them for doing nothing, otherwise it's going to look like another typical Poole mudslinging allegation. I can think of four out of eight EL promotions that are currently engaged in finding or building a new home. That involves far more work and money than you imagine and it's a distraction that Ford doesn't have with his low-rent town centre stadium. So come on, name these promoters who are sitting on their backsides wait inning for the world to come to them (assuming your claim is true)
-
Whatever the truth or otherwise behind the story , you cannot escape the fact that Ford has a long history of lying and cheating so people are bound to be suspicious. For example who can forget the occasion when Joe Screen rode for Poole and was due to get a new average in his next meeting riding at Swindon. The new average would have meant they couldn't fit Hans Andersen in the side. Lo and behold Joe suddenly gets troubled by an old shoulder injury , is unfit to ride so doesn't get a new average and Hans was shoe-horned in,. All very convenient until it was discovered that the night after Screen was supposedly unfit to ride at Swindon he made a miraculous recovery from the shoulder injury and scored an 18 point maximum in Denmark. Then we had the story about THJ being unfit when he was already on the plane to the USA which had been booked weeks earlier.. So it goes on . No other club has been involved in anything like the ducking and diving that surrounds Poole and Matt Ford.
-
Seems that you could do with a bit of "Homwork" yourself Starman ! And the clown has the gall to criticise others..........
-
To be fair I think every fan in the country including Swindon and including the neutrals are united in their congratulations of Belle Vue on their success in getting through the semis by a team effort . Unfortunately we have this stench hanging over Poole once again, for vaious reasons exacerbated by a handful on here who don't understand the basic ethos of sport.
-
From the time the green light come see on the ride r s are allowed 1.5 s eco do s to get their engines spinning before the tapes are releas ed. I didn't see the green light but. If the ref accidently let the tapes go as he put the light on he was right to call them back.
-
All clubs don't do it. No justification at all.
-
[quote name="Starman2006" post="2685507" timestamp="1442775627" Then it must be correct, otherwise Matt would not be using him.. Unless he was telling porkies or exagerrating.Just saying like. Thanks for that. Bit different though with josh directly involved in the crash. I suppose it depends on how far you stretch a point.

If you bother to read the report in the Bournemouth Echo they only repeat what they have been told by that pillar of honesty and integrity Muddlo. So nobody has so far been able to quote any sort of link or original source for the information apart from what has come out of Poole.Seems to me Orion has a point.
