  1. I’m expecting Hancock or Lindgren. Otherwise they’ll be two points under the limit.
  2. Oh, crikey, let’s hope they don’t finish next year in the NL!
  3. Have you ever known Skidder criticise the Poole promotion?
  4. I like him too, but not as the 3.57 senior reserve. That’s the only point I’m making. Hopefully on better equipment he can step up.
  5. But Swindon fans love Ellis Perks because he always chases so hard and nearly gets a point! Ducks.
  6. For me, that strength in depth Ipswich team would pick up more points away than BV, who have possibly four inconsistent away riders at every track.
  7. Swindon will be good in 13 & 15 but would have Perks/Stewart against Nicholls/Covatti/Allen/Heeps in heats 12 and 14, so 3-3s might be the best they could hope for. I can’t see Rowe picking up any points away from home and Swindon will concede a lot of heat advantages in heats 2 & 8 (and possibly in 4, 12 & 14) Let’s face it, from the riders available, no one, can match Swindon’s top three or four, so building with strength in depth is far better than trying to compete with the same strategy but having weaker riders. I think the teams that have gone for strong top fives, Belle Vue and Sheffield, will be more exposed when one of their riders has an off night. That Ipswich team looks like it could cover two riders having an off night and I think it’s the best way to go, making them joint favourites with Swindon.
  8. That would be the best team in the circumstances.
  9. Glasgow are pretty marmite and could go either way, but Redcar, Leicester and Poole (with Ellis) are certs for the six team play offs.
  10. In the race recently posted, Palin led the Thompsons and rode the outside line for the whole race, eventually going too wide on the last bend, while the Thompsons rode the inside line throughout. If Palin had cut across going into bend 1 on the first two laps he would have won. He looked the fastest and the bravest.
  11. Oh, I see, you can still ride in the NL if you have achieved a 4 point average in the CL as long as you don’t currently have a CL or PL club? So Nathan Greaves could come back down too.
  12. To be fair, he’s right. You can’t look at averages in isolation. You do have to take into account the strength of the league and even riding order in the team.
  13. So no Anders Rowe, Drew Kemp, Max Clegg, Danny Ayres, Ben Morley, Ellis Perks or Tom Brennan?
  14. Not sure about your claim of them regularly beating the top riders home and away. How come they finished on 6.5 and 5.5 averages? I can find only one race on Updates where one of them beat Flint once in a rain affected match at home. That said, they are very promising.
  15. I was talking about youngsters, not old timers. It’s pretty obvious that Chris Harris can handle a bike, even if he were in the NL, aged 50 and had only a 6 point average, but not so obvious for Jenkins and the Thompson twins, especially if they hit the first bend at Armadale, Brough or Poole with more experienced home riders.
  16. Did he have the right bikes, engines and mechanics and how much practice did he have at Foxhall? Only Leigh Adams in recent times could be guaranteed double points at every track. Even Doyle throws in a few 8 point stinkers now and again.
  17. Iversen came in cold for a handful of fixtures.
  18. Experience and control of the motor bike.
  19. He’d achieve an 8 point average. Here is is in the Polish averages, above Jack Holder, Brady Kurtz and Robert Lambert, all comfortable 7.5 pointers here: https://sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/statystyki
