I think that most of us know that the moderation on this Forum isn't very good. However if you decide to join this site, then I'm afraid its something you have to accept. Whether their actions are down to a lack of intelligence, understanding, appreciation ......... is anyone's guess!!!! As others have commented, their failure to respond to personal messages, forces members to draw their own conclusions as to their rationale. However, I feel sure they are doing the best job they can.

Speedway On Eurosport

Only caught the end of the meeting, following the conclusion of the Villarreal / AlmerÃa game. Coverage appeared fair enough - decent pictures, good action replays. In my view The Pairs were no better / worse than any other meeting that's been on telly this year - the odd tiny nugget of excitement in a pan of tedious mediocrity. Clearly the meeting didn't hold my attention, as I had turned over before the end, as I didn't want to miss the start of the final episode of Arne Dahl on BBC4. -
Could A Barry Hearn Type Be Good For Speedway?
Brujas Espanolas replied to msc1874's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Speedway had the opportunity to appoint (and in fact did for a short while) a supremo in the form of the late John Berry. As a very successful former promoter JB had the opportunity to take the sport forward. However the BSPA then, as it is now, is populated by tragic individuals who are / were more interested in their own pathetic self interest rather than for the good of the sport. Consequently JB was not given the power / authority to do the job he was appointed to do, and as result left. I have long since argued that for speedway to survive and hopefully prosper, is for the sport to be run on a franchise model. One company owning all the riders contracts, and then loaning them out to the individual promotions. It will never happen of course. -
It depends what you want when you go to speedway. If your idea of an entertaining meeting is one where the scores are close, then the current system that keeps scores artificially close is more than adequate, and saves promoters money. On the other hand if you are more interested in seeing close racing then undoubtedly the old TS was better. It was certainly a better spectacle watching the oppositions' better riders take additional rides, rather than some no hoper wobbling around adrift at the back.

Ben Barker In Trouble With The Police

One hopes that the next time you go to a meeting you see something of interest (good or bad) which prompts you to post. The key word is of course, INTEREST. I do accept that there as those on here who find the private lives of sportsman / celebrities interesting, some obsessively so.. Why anyone should be interested in a rider behaving like a yobo or another fined for careless driving is beyond me. However, clearly I'm in the minority. Let's face it "The Red Tops" thrive on salacious stories about footballers and slappers, or the drugs / booze exploits of some B List member of a reality TV Show. Those that read these esteemed organs, can get their fix of gratuitous gossip, followed usually by moral indignation. A bit like here really!!!! -

A young speedway rider behaves like a yobo, and another is a careless driver. They are certainly not the first, and I'd wager they won't be last. Yet this has prompted 25 pages plus of comment. What next? "Pope admits he is a catholic"!!! -
Mason Campton - Replacement
Brujas Espanolas replied to skoobie's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
A Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) is required for all non-European Economic Area (EEA) nationals to be employed in British Speedway. Without this the required visa will not be issued. I hope this helps. -
Ipswich Vs Plymouth - Thursday 4th April

BBC Suffolk are reporting that the meeting hasn't been cancelled, but rather postponed. It is intended that the meeting will take place at some time in future, although a restaging date has yet to be arranged. I hope this helps. -

He was unable to obtain the required GBE. The reasons for this are rarely made public, as are the specific criteria used in these cases. -

It used to be said that happiness was 40-38. Clearly 46-44 doesn't have the same impact on some folk! -

Shock horror........young speedway rider behaves like a yobo. He certainly isn't the first, and I'll wager he won't be the last. The only surprise, is that people are surprised. -
Great shame, but no great surprise. Let's face it the BSPA & SCB have successfully steered speedway in this country to the powerful and best selling attraction that it is today. Why on earth would they allow to upset the apple cart, and possibly allow the sport to fall into disrepair!

I stand to be corrected here, but I thought speedway was shown on Eurosport, rather than the British version. Presumably down to rights issues. -

Sky are notorious hard-nosed negotiators. As an example they only signed their current deal with the NFL, two days before the 2012 season started. On that basis, plenty of time go yet.
