  1. So Swindon is being cunningly shafted to the point where it becomes unfeasible to operate any more? Add to that, environmental issues (stemming from poor water supply of course!). Problems with flooding to dwellings due to the prescence of a stadium. What a bunch of fools they've been made to look. Or are they??
  2. Heres a conspiracy theory. Swindon stadium owners know that in present circumstances, overnight track watering is needed. Swindon promotion probably asked them for necessary access. Stadium owners say no dice, guys. We can't have the local residents being disturbed by additional activity, especially at night, and dog racing has priority access outside of your allocated hours anyway. Developers give stadium owners a pat on the back for their help in further discrediting speedway. "Won't be too long now until you can hand it over to us for a nice fat cheque and we can send in the heavy plant."
  3. What are the chances of substantial numbers of complaints from the new local residents (encouraged by the developers) being lodged with whatever relevant authority to the effect that Swindon speedway is a serious environmental health problem, and that it should be immediately closed down at least temporarily but also possibly permanently. They will now have plenty of substantiating evidence, especially as the residents will have had windows open, and today they will also probably be plastered in brown dust. Had it not been for the TV coverage I wonder if the meeting would have even gone ahead, to judge by the track's condition and lack of watering equipment.
  4. The best moment : Lindgren sitting in his pits and spouting something foul-mouthed at the camera. The new Nicki Pedersen, without the charisma
  5. Although I have heard that from now until the end of the season, only one piece of music will be played at Beaumont Park. Rip it up and Start Again, by Orange Juice
  6. So does anybody know when the 2018 Leicester press & practice, and meet the riders event is happening?
  7. My bad I think probably David Davis - the great (former) Brexit Secretary
  8. Crisis? What crisis? Everything's great. It's going fine. David Davies coming in to take over.
  9. And I wouldn't be at all surprised if that's just what has been going on recently. Don't be surprised if there is a change soon!
  10. Allowing two clubs to change race night in order to allow them to continue in business is considered to be unworkable. Allowing one club to do it, could work. But it still needs a bit of co-operation, and some favours to be called-in.
  11. It's looking like RH has been thrown out of the Balloon in order to help BV to stay in it, and by so doing keep it in the sky. But it still resembles the one from the Cider advert, scraping the rooftops with Buster at the controls.
  12. You have not included the second part of Cook's statement. Naughty.
  13. Start with a top league of 6 clubs.(Super Six) Glasgow, Belle Vue, Sheffield, Wolverhampton, Ipswich, Poole. These are a combo of big cities, and well-established Speedway venues. It runs on Thursdays ONLY. Each team plays the other once home and once away. Grand 2-legged final between top two sides. Five-man teams, with a No.6 rider who can be brought in as a substitute either tactically or injury replacement. Below this level, a national competition having no race night restrictions, with the Super Six clubs also eligible to take part. This could possibly be organised on a split north/south sections basis.
  14. And by the way it's going that could be Ricky Wells by August. Unless he's only on a 28-day arrangement of course!
  15. Incredible. Having lost one idiot promoter it sounds like Leicester may have now acquired another one. Is Mr Darcy the roly-poly fella wearing black who was around the pits area at Wolverhampton at the TV match last week? Instead of making snide comments about supporters having the barefaced cheek to discuss the team, he might be better advised to get some exercise and cut down on the pies intake.
