Agreed. That's why I suggested from the Council who are generally supportive of the stadium continuing and might - just might - have offered him better repayment terms than a commercial bank?!

Jack and Brady 'struggling' to the B final!!! lol
-
With Horton already having a lease from brandon to run the stadium, its a shame that neither Brandon nor the Council could make Horton a business loan to buy back the fixtures and fittings (or get replacements) and re-install them all. The stadium would then be operational - as would the speedway - and Sandhu's Stox could then decide if they want to use Brandon on Horton's terms?! Or maybe Coventry Speedway could seek alternative Stox providers?

Soz. It must have been the way wot you rote it?!

You'ld be wrong then ray c. Starman does quite a bit at the stadium and not only on race days, when he also sells the Star.

With negotiations and egos delicately poised, any 'daily update' on the situation from any of the protagonists (even with all their tacit private agreement) is likely to be questioned, countermanded or simply publicly disagreed with, just for some continued one-upmanship or scoring some media points!! Best to wait in hope until the whole situation is solved.

Trying their damnest to get the Bees on track for 2017 for the benefit of British speedway!!?
-
Neil Watson was on here a few days ago referring SS to their pre-Christmas message on their website - that they would post something when there was any updated news!! Negotiations are ongoing and are clearly 'delicate'. The slightest word or statement that might be taken more than one way could be like a red rag to a bull with the 2 protaganists (Sandhu and Horton) involved. Any statement from Coventry Speedway will come with the agreement of Brandon Estates, I would imagine - and rightly so. IMO anything else 'official' that has appeared in the public domain recently is simply one side attempting to flex their muscles via the media..

I don't know him. Is he one of Ipswich's new signings? Yes - you're missing the last 2 rounds!!! When you win things like a championship (not something you're used to in Ipswich admittedly!) its usually after all the rounds/meetings!! At the current stage, it could just be that the 6 other riders ahead of Brady are currently riding with a little more form than him?! Doesn't mean he's 'struggling' at all. Batch's bike catching fire would present more of a struggle imo.

There are many many examples of Councils funding, owning and running all kinds of venues around the UK - they simply employ specialist staff in those roles!! (I was one of those specialist staff for the last 16 years of my working life, responsible for 2 venues with capacities of up to 10,000 depending on the type of event!!) Admittedly with Councils continually struggling for local funding there are also examples of where they have outsourced the management of the venue to a specialist 3rd party - even a 'Charitable trust' in some cases - which should limit the Council's risk whilst retaining the fabric of the building. Council's generally don't 'promote' events - they hire out the facility to an event promoter, be it for a concert, a conference, exhibition or indeed a sports fixture eg speedway.

Strange with Davey - one would have thought that if he felt that badly he wouldn't have been helping in the pits regularly and chatting with fans and sponsors - aside from chatting quite happily in the office with MF. One would have thought he'd have given MF's house a wide berth too - Not!! I wish Davey well and I'm glad he's got rid of his demons. I wait with interest as to how he (and Bomber for that matter) rides the small, tight Rye House track?

So its Sunday - a new day on the Poole thread - just caught up with recent posts. I do love a bit of irony on a Sunday. Brady 'struggling' by coming 2nd in the 'B' Final!?? You have to laugh.......ha ha. ps. Looking forward to the REF 'Gameshow-style' quiz night on Wednesday 11th in the Poole Champs Bar - another packed house no doubt!! pps. Forgot yesterday - but a very Happy 60th Birthday to Middlo, who is currently out on the Austrian slopes with some of his 'crew'!!

More pontification from the Sandhu camp then?! Surprise surprise. For them to suggest the Speedway doesn't want Stox is ludicrous. What they are playing silly buggers at is the terms of the lease offered by Horton!! Having gone from dictating the terms (when they owned the stadium) to accepting another's terms under a speedway-controlled lease is what this is all about! I don't know the terms of the new lease offered by Horton - they may be unrealistic, they may not. For Sandhu to claim he only took the equipment that was his - without any regard for the damage caused - to use at a new stadium ie equally ludicrous. Even if there were real plans for a new stadium somewhere, it wouldn't be ready in time for a 2017 season anyway so why rip the equipment out now? If Stox are to run at other existing venues then they will already be equipped and the Brandon fixtures and fittings would be superfluous in the short term. Lets hope the Council (Cllr Stokes?), Brandon and Horton can come up with a deal that suits the speedway and also gets the equipment reinstated as promised by Sandhu.

JD put some pics on facebook in the past couple of days - pics from the gym and some very tough workouts, primarily to test his lung capacity I believe. Everything went well and according to his recuperation plan.
