It's hard enough travelling around London with a Satnav! Lived in London in the sixties, when New Cross closed we went to Wimbledon, West Am, Ackney, and ended up following the Dons south of the river, although our favourite rider was Bjorn Knutson of the Ammers. Saw Swindon at White City in the mid 70s, Ashby, Kilby, Karlsson, more Robins fans there than City fans. The Robins were the only club to break the London Stranglehold on the title in 57. I suppose the Dons could be compared to Spurs in those days, London's top and wealthiest club. A lot of Dons fans followed Chelsea and Fulham, with Awks and Ammers fans following north and east London clubs. There was a big rivalry between norf and sarf of the river.

The Robins have always had a great bunch of followers, one of the most loyal bunch of hard-core speedway fans since 1949, sad to see this situation. They deserve more respect otherwise will lose more followers.

Rosco has been spotted wandering around Swindon with underpants on his head and 2 pencils up his nostrils

Save Coventry Bees Campaign (dont Give Up)

Good luck, great racetrack and fans. -
I must have picked the wrong night at the Wight. Didn't see one pass all evening. Will give it another go this season. Coventry was a good racers track.

Swindon Wildcats now overtaken the Robins attendances, extra seating at the ice linkrink means they are getting capacity 1300-1400 crowds, after getting 8/900 a few years ago, great rapport between players and fans, and cheaper to watch than speedway. It's a real family sport, attracting many youngsters. The Blunsdon club should be looking at how the ice hockey team are successfully promoting themselves, and get the fans and local community more involved and going to watch speedway, now number 3 sport in the area. Perhaps some Robins fans have switched their allegiance to the Wildcats, with crowds falling. We need that new stadium.

Sad news for speedway and Bees fans. Superb stadium, good bunch of fans, great history, and one of Swindons fav tracks.

Will mean the loss of more fans, they've already lost about a third of their fan base over the last 10 years, what the bloody hell is going on at The Abbey? Obviously nothing as i drove in yesterday!

Yep drove through Peckham on Saturday, totally changed from the 60s. No cockney accents unless you go to Essex, Herts, or Kent, or even the overspill towns such as Swindon, Northampton, etc.,and the 50 others where over a million Londoners settled post-war.

Bangladeshis in Tower Amlets, big Muslim and Hindu population in east London, big African population in souf London, Peckham...my old manor,Greenwich, Brixton, Lambeth, Lewisham, loads of Oirish in Islington and Kilburn, Sikhs in Southall. Remember all the kosher butchers in Stanmore, Golders Green, Stamford Hill. Mill Hill used to be posh but loads of eastern Europeans and others have moved in. Plenty of Aussies in Shepherds Bush and Fulham, Lebanese in Edgeware Road, sure theres some Cockneys somewhere. Wouldn't walk around Broadwater Farm, Tottingham, black gangs and big drugs turf wars with the local Turks.

Nothing too intimidating there Sid, worse places in Swindon, from my cab driving days, not as bad as certain areas in bigger cities. Try a stroll round Kings Cross, North Peckham, White City, Ackney, Brixton, Tottenham, North Clapham, Harlesden, with yer white face.

No way Swindon will finish that low, never have done never will do with Rosco in charge. Somerset Cov Lions bottom 3. Rye House look the strongest. Such a weak league, just have one big league in 2018

Can remember in my cabbying days in windon majority of customers thought speed way too expensive.12 quid seems a fairer cost especially with the ever weakening lineups.

Then they will roar back in the new stadium cheered on by thousands and finish top!!

I doubt if the gaps in April and May are to allow construction work, would be financial suicide, still fixtures to fit in. The Robins could be bottom of the table early on with all the away matches!
