  1. We do they're ok in main stand. Most away fans congregate on back straight grass bank.
  2. Bring your chair as there are only about 50 in main stand. Bring a portaloo. Plenty of decent eating places nearby, Jovial Monk, Robins Farm, Harvester, Cold Harbour, and Monica's, excellent fish n chips by the Monk. You can park there and short walk to stadium, or pay to park at stadium. Couple of snack bars and bars in stadium. Enjoy your visit to The Abbey, and wrap up well, nearly always cold on Blunsdon Hill.
  3. Narrow win for Swindon on aggregate. Kennett, Nicholls, Bomber, Watto like Blunsdon. Will many Herts Yids and Gooners be making the trip west?Friendly welcome assured from the Back Straight Bog Crew, but use the facilities at your own risk. Hoping for decent size crowd again. Don't like this doubling-up nonsense.
  4. Nicky Pedersen and everyone
  5. It's not over yet with Rye having riders that like the big Abbey circuit. Should be enough. Good to see Grondal getting a decent total after his misfortune on Thursday, and Morra is on fire, ahead of Doyley at the moment. Good stuff from the Flying Frenchman and BWD. You can never write off a Rosco side. In Rosco We Trust...(others pay cash).
  6. Fantastic win for Windon, all those Robins fans so pessimistic. Super Nicky Morris.
  7. Nonsense know a few teachers, accountants, scientists, managers, and business people, that attend Swindon matches, and some posh motors in the Blunsdon car park.
  8. Had a brief chat with Colin at Swindon on Thursday, said he rode at New Cross in 1963 for PL Select against Southampton, and beat Bjorn Knutson. I saw this meeting. Where can I find heat details?
  9. Elliott is our local councillor in Priory Vale.
  10. After seeing Belle Vue at Swindon werent that surprised by this ammering. Aces are the team to beat.
  11. Morra is on fire, Doyley can only improve, Bellego looked good against Belle Vue. After seeing the ammering Belle Vue gave to Poole last night The Robins did well to only lose by two to them on Thursday.
  12. This could be closer than most people think...Rye 48 Swindon 42...with The Robins winning on aggregate in Wiltshire.
  13. Great crowd, car park full, Swindon fans so sporting and supported their team to the end. Morra man of the match, Bellego good. Poor racing until the Bjerre pass on Doyley. Aces look good.
  14. Don't think that matters George, most big cities, with London the biggest without one, have speedway. Been tried in lots of others and failed.Poole best supported is not massive urban area. Think Coventry City get around 8000, 45000 at Wembley on Sunday for their trophy win. Was good move by Waspies, but London Welsh failed at Oxford.
  15. Helpful geezer on phone pre-season issue on way.
  16. Be interesting to see what size turn out there will be from home fans. Hopefully will be decent weather. Was told by a regular fan he won't be going anymore due to the new stadium issues. Looking forward to the first home match, seeing the new lads, and the Blunsdon Roar/Whimper! Narrow home win.
  17. Great to hear big crowds at Rye and Leicester, need the good weather to continue. Speedway like cricket so reliant on the weather.
  18. No they don't Swindon 16/1, Somerset 40/1 with Corals.
  19. Wouldn't have thought more than 5% of Robins regulars visit this forum and you get a few neggy ones on here, probably some of whom never go, but was surprised Doyley, probably the world number 1 last year, got such a low score. Well done Morra, and well done Lions. At least we got a point.
  20. Also travelled up on the train and coach, before the m4 was built in 1970, to watch the Arsenal after we had moved out of London to Swindon and remember passing Tilehurst, now an industrial estate.
  21. Did many Robins fans make the trip up from the west?
  22. Swindon were always one of the best supported clubs, still are. 60s crowds were said to average around 4-5000, with up to 10000 for big matches. Biggest crowd I've been in at The Abbey late 70s, gates locked with 16-17000 inside! Loads climbed in. Only get around 1200 now, but if the new stadium is built will be a big increase.
  23. Thanks...both Sainsburys stores in Swindon had last week's copies yesterday and today. Tesco sold out.
