  1. Whilst I was somewhat underwhelmed by the racing, well done to the Rockets and also James Sarjeant. There is so much to admire about Leicester but please sort the track out so that the riders can race. I know people are bored with the track debate but something needs to happen. Surely for the good of Leicester Speedway?
  2. Didn't go on Saturday night as I took the opportunity to support an ex Lion in action elsewhere. Seems I missed one of the better meetings at BP sadly. Glad to hear that the racing was better than normal and let's hope it continues. Whilst I watched some very entertaining racing myself, I was very alarmed at what looked like a very low crowd of about 500. Hopefully not a sign of things to come at Leicester.
  3. Thats excellent news. Always pleased to hear of new supporters getting hooked on speedway.
  4. As for putting people off from visiting Leicester, family members who live nearer than I do and other friends have asked me about going. They've never been to speedway before. My answer has always been that you may enjoy it more once the track has been changed, for fear of them never going again because they weren't entertained enough to want to come back.
  5. So forgive me for bringing up the track word again but what alterations were made to the original layout by DH, against the better judgement of other people?
  6. Does every Leicester thread have to descend into a slanging match? Surely everyone is entitled to voice their opinion without the need to trade insults?
  7. I think for whatever reason we just have to accept that the track isn't going to be changed anytime soon. A great shame because it spoils what is a super little venue. Extremely grateful that the sport has returned to Leicester but, like an earlier poster said, the honeymoon period is now over. Whilst it is great that the team is doing so well I think most fans would tolerate some home defeats in exchange for some better speedway. Maybe I'm wrong though.
  8. Of course I didn't prefer it when there wasn't speedway in Leicester. I salute everyone that worked so hard to bring the sport back to the city. That doesn't mean I should just pay my money every week and not be entitled to an opinion. I stopped going to Brandon because I always felt the racing was dull and sadly that's how I feel about Leicester. Doesn't mean I'm anti DH or anti Leicester. Nothing would make me happier that to rave about the great racing there but that's not gonna happen unless the track issues are resolved.
  9. Having heard the interview I can only conclude that I have no idea what speedway racing looks like anymore. I will bear this in mind if I return to King's Lynn, Peterborough or Rye House this season. Leicester is a great facility with an awful lot going for it, and there is a lot of hard working people there who obviously put a lot of effort into making visiting a good experience, but the racing isn't entertaining enough. I hope the track issues, whether track shape or track surface, can be sorted but that is looking unlikely.
  10. As for the lack of racing at Leicester it was noticeable at Hoddesdon yesterday that, despite the usual sunny afternoon meeting problems with getting moisture into the track, there was far more on track entertainment. However on the relevant thread many posters thought the track was awful.....
  11. Having been at Leicester last night I thought, for an afternoon meeting, there was some pretty decent racing today. Hope the boys coming back from injuries are given time to find their feet again.
  12. Well done to the Lions tonight on pulling it back from the brink. Craig Cook looked a class apart. As for entertainment, sadly very little. Sure the Lion's comeback was exciting but the racing was as poor as ever.
  13. So what is the best option with what we have? The common consensus is that the straights are too close together which makes the bends too tight. I'm assuming the position of the straights can't be altered now. So will pulling the apex of the bends in by, say, 2m create another racing line that can actually be that? Or will it be too tight a line to get round without losing speed and therefore not giving the riders a usable option to the current quickest line around BP? Be nice to have some constructive comments please.
  14. It's such a shame we still discuss the track action at BP in terms of a great pass. Rather than a great race like the heats 13-15 I witnessed at the Showground last night. Speedway at it's best.
  15. Went to Peterborough last night. The track looked somewhat tricky. The first 12 heats produced approximately 3 passes. The last 3 heats produced speedway straight out of the top drawer. Racing of a standard we sadly don't get at Leicester. Nemo's track craft and passes in heats 14 and 15 won it for the Aces.
  16. Well done to the team for covering Lasse Bjerre's absence last night. Great to see Kevin Doolan on the pace and Simon Nielsen pick himself up and grab some confidence boosting points.Apart from Jan Graversen's move in heat 8 there was no passing to speak of. Whilst some people are just happy with Lion's wins, the lack of racing is taking it's toll on people's enthusiasm for attending speedway at Leicester. Which is a great shame.
  17. The track at Leicester will never be right for some people. I mean, Brandon is awesome isn't it......
  18. The alterations look minor and the track surface looked in rough shape. Maybe we should wait and pass judgement once the track has been worked on and four riders are actually racing on it?
  19. Whilst the jury is out on the track changes until the season starts, it seems appropriate to thank the team of volunteers for their efforts over the last few, and no doubt coming, weeks. Without them, and all the volunteers at tracks up and down the country, we wouldn't be fortunate enough to have speedway to comment on.
  20. So without resorting to the usual name calling/mud slinging/it was balllsed up in the first place comments, what changes do people suggest would improve the track bearing in mind that money is probably tight? Most seem to disapprove of the recent work?
  21. Any more news on the track alterations? According to the Star there's another practice session on Sunday March 3, 'following the earlier-than-expected completion of track work to alter the bends at Beaumont Park'. Can anyone shed any light on this?
  22. Jason Garrity looked very quick at Leicester today. Hope you Rockets fans get behind Simon Lambert and he gets the time he wasn't given at Beaumont Park.
  23. The inner kerb has been taken in on the first/second bend. I'm no track laying expert but I guess there's probably going to be alterations to the banking? I hope the weather remains kind to Glyn and the team of volunteers.
