  1. The way things are going over here give it a couple of weeks and Wilko will be riding for us??
  2. Deserved win for Scunny, overall the more solid team as for the Comets well, that tail was just a little bit too long tonight, always looking one race behind? Question, where is the "real" Matt Williamson, I dont like this version??
  3. No, what's stuffed our season up is our regular inability to ride as many meetings as everyone else, lightweight first four months then under pressure for the last three?
  4. Would have been a good idea but, I think the prospect of two meetings v Glasgow on Saturday was a bit too much considering we're at Scunthorpe on Sunday, tiring us out n all that?
  5. You should have added Jorgensen onto your list of under acheivers, as third ht leader 6pt returns are not the kind of support we need either? A nice 13pt Kings Lynn type performance every other match, wearing a Comets jacket, would be very handy, especially with Williamson's move into the team being a bit of a damp squib and the reserve situation not working very well? Ht14 is a nightmare home and away so we need more than ever the top end of the team working much better than we are to cover the shortfalls from elsewhere, but, if they don't deliver either, wins, especially away wins, will be hard to come by? Nice to see a good end of meeting 1-5 to get a point yesterday tho, we've let one or two slip away recently so, big up for that, proves we can do it when required so let's keep doing it, one's better than none!!
  6. Disappointing result, thought it would be tight but we'd be good enough to nick it? Doesn't read like a meeting to remember judging from the previous page so, pleased I missed it really, maybe we should have a look in the sales and buy some big blackout curtains to hang off the end of the stand, might help us out a bit when the "sun's out"!! Too many delays does nothing for the paying public and when your crowd is down and atmosphere even further it just doesn't sell well when you keep stopping? Perhaps when we start running more regular meetings things will improve and we can at least get challenging for a play off spot, a lot to do tho and we may be too far back even now but, we have to keep trying, someone could slip up??
  7. If Sheffield turn up in the front five the deciding factor will be whose reserves can fill the loose third places and turn shared heats into advantages? Fully expecting a tight match and as we're bound to be rusty after our "summer break" a narrow win by any margin will do for me!!
  8. Yep, looks a likely option for some, saves looking for individual dates and all your riders should be available for one so there should be no excuses for not putting on a second? Very likely to get the old argument about admission costs with that set up but, what do you do, there's another blank weekend coming up with the British GP and there are only so many Saturday's between now and Sept 30th, gotta come up with summat, weather doesn't always play ball either?
  9. 25 meetings to race in 3 months will screw us....."again"???
  10. Think I've got more chance of getting a pardon??
  11. According to our website, the next away match is at............. "Newcastle Stadium" 16th July, does this mean we'll get all this bollox again in about three weeks time should it go belly up? We didn't ride well 2nd leg and an effective 18pt lead, (after ht1) should have killed this meeting stone dead, we didn't and bothering about one heat doesn't justify the position we ended up in, it should have been sorted in the previous fourteen "not" a last heat decider? We cant afford an injured Craig Cook so he has to be helped from elsewhere in the team and until that happens these pressure situations will always end in tears, we didn't deserve to go thru, we weren't good enough, one heat was not the problem, not for me anyway!!
  12. Just as a matter of interest, how many points could be deemed as "enough" for Workington to stand a reasonable chance of winning against anyone, anywhere on aggregate? Cant believe they have bombed this match from such a commanding position, very very disappointing? Still, the good thing is, that's two more matches we dont have to find room for, alongside the other five that are still up in the air? A good day turned sour but, that's the Comets on the road for ya, you just never know what your gonna get, back to the league now, see what we can do in that, sometime in July I think that is?
  13. Not looking good already this season for rain offs etc, this is now five matches for us, inc today's at Glasgow, that need rearranging!! With the next couple of weekends seemingly not available due to one thing or another, the latter half of this season could get pretty messy?
  14. Next weekend is set aside for a KO Cup match, predictably what should have been the quarter final, had we got thru, weather permitting obviously, I would be very disappointed if this isn't used now for the 1st leg re run of the original qualifier? Weekend after we are at Newcastle in a league fixture, possible double header over there, again, weather permitting, and get this fixture sorted, 6/7wks is more than long enough to have gotten this re arranged?
  15. Exactly what I've been saying, pleased someone else has noticed??
  16. I had heard that also but nothing appeared anywhere to suggest that was the case!! That is correct Steve and it did take place on the 20th with the Edinburgh match switched to the Sunday!! If the GP Qualifier was on the Saturday of that weekend then that would probably explain why we didn't go for that date, no Cookie and not wanting to use any guest riders, just in case??
  17. That's the weekend Steve, our programme shows nothing at all for that day so was clearly vacant, never heard/read of any issues surrounding availability of the stadium/riders so, dont understand why at least the first leg couldn't have been run, from memory it was a dry night so, good possibility?? Obviously you would have had issues for the second leg so we probably would still be looking for a date for that? With the quarter final still to have dates arranged and a very busy looking fixture list, this could take a bit of a Captain Oates to get sorted??
  18. Haven't heard one single thing about any replay dates for the qualifying match between Comets and Newcastle since the original match ended? No idea what the hold up is but surely if the match has to be replayed then it should have been completed well before now, I'm pretty sure both teams had blank weekends in May so unless something serious regarding rider availability was at play then there were dates that could possibly have been used? There's a lot of matches this season and with rain offs likely, fixture congestion will be rapid so spare dates must be utilised wherever possible, going to be a long wait for the KO Cup to be settled again this season, started early but could still be finishing in October at this rate?
  19. League table suggested what should have been a comfortable away win, so from that perspective a very disappointing result? Following the updates, I guess the way it was going we should just be thankful we managed to hang on for the one? Still very iffy on the road are the Comets and this result wont be giving sleepless night's to very many, but I've said it before and I'll say it again, unless Craig Cook gets some support he's in danger of becoming another Carl Stonehewer, a figurehead for a team always two paces behind?
  20. Well, he couldn't have finished the race in any worse position than Wells SH but, we'll never know now!!
  21. Great win for the Comets in a very entertaining match!! Nip and tuck for most of the way after Comets had made a blistering start, some very good races tonight and how some guys got thru gaps they got thru was just unbelievable at times? Pick has to be Williamson/Wells/Jorgensen, Ht11, worth the admission money just to see that, all over each other for four laps, brilliant stuff, Jorgensen/Masters in Ht13 and Cook/Jorgensen/Masters in Ht15, some terrific racing!! One thing I couldn't understand tho, where was Erik Riss in the final heat, Monarchs only five down, draw would have been enough, guy was flying, had the momentum but they put Wells in with Masters, not exactly on top form and not in the best two scorers either so, unless Riss had a problem of some sort then I think that decision could have cost Edinburgh a deserved point as they were certainly good value for one? Still, a good three points for us and up to fourth now, making steady progress so, let's keep that going and see where it takes us?
  22. Looking forward to this match, dont think Edinburgh will be any sort of pushover with the riders they have and, when you consider we didn't do much against a pretty moderate Berwick the other week, they are certainly capable of nicking points here!! Still going for a Comets win but somewhere like the 48-42 end?
  23. An assertion of "April Foolery" to Topaz post RR, would I be correct in thinking your of the opinion Edinburgh will get nothing from this encounter??
  24. Very good win for the Comets and very nice to see us taking advantage of an "underperforming" opposition for a change, pretty similar to how everyone else has taken advantage of the underperforming Comets over the last couple of years, especially away from home!!
  25. Inevitable, didn't look happy at all but, pleased the management have made a move early as it's never really been Comets policy to shift under performing riders until it's too late, now for a replacement ready to hit the ground running? Best of luck Adam, a rider whom should have got more from speedway than he has!!
