  1. Looking at that lineup it shows a lot of riders that have come through 80cc and I've even seen some of them ride. The question that was asked last sunday though, was that how many riders (and what age they are now) you currently have in the 500cc that have come through the 50cc micro scene?
  2. Kalle Katajisto and Tomi Reima are both fine after their falls in Daugavpils. The track was apparently pretty bad and reruns were plenty. The track conditions were also mostly to blame for their falls. Lots of stuff going on during the meeting. Katajisto was phenomenally fast with his riding, only last in to the 1st bend each time from the gate. He even followed Hancock for the full four laps right in his tailpipe. Nieminen was apparently a class act too managing to beat Hancock and being the top Finnish scorer. The Laukkanen mystery was solved now, more was expected from him for sure. Hautamäki was lost with his setup but improved during the meeting. Better luck next time.
  3. No he's not. The U21 final is later in the season. MUCH later.
  4. Like you said, he's doing well. Only his third meeting yesterday in which he beat Ales Dryml after passing him. There's free practise at Varkaus probably everyday, but no meetings scheduled for this season.
  5. Ljubljana, big fast track that's usually slick... (right? ) Both were at the Finnish training camp in Hallstavik two weeks ago. It was a season starter for Keskinen (three blown engines for starters) where as Mäkinen had already done two visits to Poland. Finnish season starts on thursday before your meeting, so there are not all that much meetings behind them. Keskinen will ride in Stralsund though in the EC semi. Havent seen any of the other pairs, but cant see them doing better than Laukkanen and Mustonen did a year ago.
  6. Nicki got back what he gave away few heats before this incident. From the rerun shown on Canal+ there was nothing dirty in Dobrucki's pass on him...
  7. It's only names and numbers and they are usually live here
  8. This forum has about 15k??? readers, 9k posters and less than 50 people whining about Millard and the other one. Sky GP coverage has about 100-150k paying viewers and more on the side in internet and such... Not all of them no this stuff by heart...
  9. It would have given him a run off against Giruckis. In FIM competitions places 1 to 3 and possible reserves are always solved through a runoff. Heat wins have no role when a podium finish or a reserve slot for the next around are at stake.
  10. We are using the FIM codes currently. Thats the plan anyway at the moment. When going through older results like from 1990 to date they have: K - fell (kaatui) X - excluded H - excluded (hylätty) M - 2 minutes d T - tapes d - - non starter On some very old results (1950-1970) they have sometimes used "-" as a way of saying someone's finished last. Thats not all that good. The European Union should make a directive about all this. As it happens the elections are this year... Maybe I should run for a seat at Strasbourg!!
  11. Excellent!!! This will come very handy. Thank you very much!
  12. Appe Mustonen has withdrawn from the U21 qualifier in Elgane and Teemu Lahti will take his place. FINNISH NOMINATIONS 2009 Elgane, U21: Teemu Lahti, Kalle Katajisto, Niko Siltaniemi Hallstavik, U19: Katajisto, Mustonen, Siltaniemi EC at Stralsund: Joni Keskinen and Mustonen EC pairs at Ljubljana: Keskinen and Jari Mäkinen U21 World Cup in Pardubice: Lahti bro's, Siltaniemi, Katajisto and Mäkinen U19 E Cup in Moorwinkelsdamm: Timo Lahti, Mustonen, Katajisto, Siltaniemi and Mäkinen EDIT I Longtrack too, forgot... Artigues de Lussac: Rene Lehtinen Bielefeld: Kaj Laukkanen, Appe Mustonen EC Stadskanaal: Lehtinen, Laukkanen EC Hertingen: Appe Mustonen EDIT II Teemu Lahti is in the Gasarna side on the season opener next thursday in the swedish Allsvenskan. Aarnio has said he'll ride in the Bajen opener and Kalle Katajisto should be starting for Getingarna. Kauko Nieminen and Juha Hautamäki I dont know about, but they are defo starters for their teams in my books. Thats five Finns in the Allsvenskan! They only have 14 Swedes in the Elitserien... EDIT III Heard yesterday that Nemo and Hautamäki are confirmed starters on thursday. Sixth is also confirmed...
  13. It's a problem time to time to follow results from the internet, since people use different "codes" to mean different things. It's a language thing too. But lets now gather these on this thread, so we can check them from this one place if we happen to forget what something meant.
  14. Rules for this years Extraliiga were published today, about four weeks after they were discussed in the spring parlament. Couple of pointers: - A team in a league meeting can be made of four foreign riders. - A foreigner can represent only one team during a season - #4 is always the rider with the lowest average in the team, other than that the team building is free. The change in the foreigner rule was a, how to put this , quite drastic. To go from 1 per team to absolutely free seven weeks after the entry deadline doesn't seem all that rational. But maybe thats just me . There's free practise at Varkaus this weekend. Finnish season starts...
  15. Rospiggarnas p&p is also held today at Hallstavik.
  16. You should keep checking the FIM website. They've changed their style recently and the lineups and SR's are posted there first.
  17. After failing at the qualifier on saturday he was again the top scorer on sunday. It wasn't a Premier league team that they were up against, but that was not the point of the weekend either. Actions of individual riders and practise was the name of the game. After the weekend I've heard a lot of positive feedback on Mäkinen (edit: his riding). If he could just keep his act together and focus on working hard to improve himself... Then he has the chance to pick up on his form as it was 13 months ago.
  18. "Svaerje" would sound great on Sky... NOT No new news regarding Kylmäkorpi and his "ameriikan vitamiinit"/oxygen therapy. Looks like he's a no go for this one.
  19. Test match yesterday at Hallstavik. Mäkinen top scorer on the day and keeping his chances alive of a team place during the year, maybe. 20. Thanks iris123 for your help again. I can only write and send emails on my phone, havent had the time to read the book about it (they are for kids and women anyway ). A great day in Hallstavik yesterday. At times it was snowing and then again the sun was shining. The track was great. Everyone had practised the day before and I think Mäkinen was the only one that had previous riding experience from this season under his belt. He was the surprise package of friday, practically unbeaten all day, but could't carry his form to the actual meeting. Katajisto was the best in the actual meeting only loosing points after falling on the last bend against Reima while 2nd. Siltaniemi was very solid throughout the meeting and I was led to understand that he was given the "wild card" for the U21 qualifier. Lahti brothers both did OK, but not enough. Only rider to have any (possibly) bad feelings can be Timo Lahti. He was leading heat 18 by some margin before it was stopped when the three others all fell. That win would have given him the chance for a re-run against Siltaniemi and his chances would have been good in that one. Had a chat with Greg Hancock too and got the chance to see his modified Stuha frame that he's been using for 2,5 years now. Very interesting...
  21. And here I thought you were the one to ask this about... Miikka Hyyryläinen is also been mentioned. He's from Lahti, the same as Nieminen and I think they were in Sweden during easter. EDIT: It was a bit confusing to read the Svemo newsletter, when they were talking about a Finn for their "ungdomslaget". I thought this was big news, since no foreigners are allowed below Allsvenskan. Turned out to be more of an ordinary affair...
  22. For what I know and read from Aarnio's blog he's had a nightmare start to the season. Daugavpils is traditionally a very slick track with no banking on the curves. So not really a track for Aarnio. He was doing fine when Berwick was still a mx-track last season, but it's been hard for him to get things going this year. Katajisto on the other is considered to be the next big one in Finnish speedway. His problem on the other hand is gating, but if he gates, he's very fast. He has a very unique yet fast style to ride a bike. If I'm honest, I dont really understand how he's so fast. In my opion he should fall off more often, since he look's like a boiled string of spaghetti on his bike... Even with the heat win in Workington he only got 4 or something from his four rides (didn't even check). There are plenty of places in the Finnish camp to be filled during the season in international meetings still... Qualifier for the Finnish U19 and U21 places in Elgane and Hallstavik will be ridden on saturday. The riders will start with practise on friday. On sunday there's once again a test match between the Finns and Stjärnorna.
  23. One of the big issues is of course that the current 2-stroke 80cc engines will be banned in the near future and a replacement has to be found. Hey Anders! You know of any other finns in the Swedish 80cc league than Jooa Partanen and Vili Hautala, Smederna Mika Loppi, Elit Vetlanda Jiri Nieminen, Västervik ?????????????
