  1. Injury-prone isn't he? Thought his size 13 feet got a bit tangled up in those tight corners.Anyway has the new gaffer offered you your old job back?
  2. German,Polish, Swedish, Latvian, Yorkshire, Suffolk. Quite a mix of accents there! Maybe it works well at the Bates family plumbing business, so why not ? Just hope it goes better than the so-called "Cosmopolitan Lions" of (1975?)!
  3. I think Sedgmen needed a firm job offer by the end of January to be able to renew his visa. Otherwise he'd have to sit it out for a year.
  4. Matt Ford got financial problems then??
  5. Funny - was just thinking we've not heard from mrcts lately
  6. There could be one or two practical problems with that! Also, Mr Bates hasn't done the deal with Coventry, he isn't the landlord or the owner. That's Mr Hemsley.
  7. Well I hope for him that he's not acquired the whole area. Unless he's got a shedload of money to spend and likes dealing with councils!
  8. Yes, probably needs to get a team manager who can do the media stuff. He sounded a bit knackered so maybe best cut him some slack. First impressions can stick though!
  9. I thought his responses were a bit weird and at times fairly incoherent. The interviewer seemed quite well clued up. Bates seemed to say that he is responsible for the speedway operations, stadium, and the land around. That's puzzling, as I'm sure that Chapman previously clearly stated that Hemsley is still responsible for the stadium infrastructure and land, and if Bates has taken on what Buster had acquired, then he isn't responsible for stadium infrastructure and land. If Bates has taken it all over, difficult to see how the legal processes could have been done in that short a time! The other weird but came when he was asked a perfectly reasonable question about his position, should Leicester and Sheffield find themselves in the same division. So he said " well, that's just not going to happen". So hey there you Sheffield fans, your gaffer doesn't want to get promotion! The interviewer wound it up quite quickly I thought, probably a good decision. A bit later I wondered if it was actually Josh Bates who'd been talking.
  10. Nope! See flagrag post over in Leicester thread. He's usually right
  11. We're a tougher breed oop North, tha knows. Bunch of southern softies you Cov lot.
  12. Hmmm...Wouldn't be surprised if there's a clause in that lease providing him with some slice of the income in the event of increased activity. He may be many things but I don't think he's stupid when it comes to those kind of things!
  13. So looks like Mr Landlord Hemsley will be having some more income from another tenant!
  14. Wasn't convinced there was enough "substance" to the new set up when it was first announced although I suppose like many others I kept an open mind especially in the light of goings-on at Brandon. Whether it's a case of Darcy's cheque bouncing or a new sponsor changing their mind, or something emerging which wasn't spotted during diligence and negotiations, suspicions of a setback can't be good for confidence.
  15. Last seen leaving Beaumont Park, sometime in August??
  16. Yep, get all 4 of the Leicester v Coventry fixtures done quick and early
  17. A bust femur shouldn't be too much of a problem. This is a guy who puts his own dislocated shoulder back in joint, mid-race.
  18. The land can't be used for anything much, so instead of zero income from it, City Council is getting something coming in, even though its small change. Was there collusion between City Council and DH? Who knows. But they've taken a supine approach over the whole project's lack of overall progress for the most part, and only made an attempt to crack the whip with DH a couple of years ago - revised development plan, revised planning permission/requirements - and that was only after certain parties rocked the drifting boat. And the outcome of that .....he bunged some hardboard up at the back of the temporary stands, maybe tarted up one or two things, but the place is still a rubble tip. Suspect DH knew how he was going to raise money right from the start, just didn't tell people who were on his "side" about it, so for example Ermolenko ended up wasting his time and efforts. Did the Council know all along that was the plan, too? Then you had one or two councillors (and an MP - not Mr Vaz amazingly but the shyster Hewitt) who made sure their public profiles were to the fore when the project was announced and up to and beyond the opening night....basking in a bit of reflected glory. Very easy for DH to run rings around these people and be relatively immune from future sanctions except the toothless window-dressing that went on two years ago. So does DH need speedway to operate now? I think the Council might have a minor cack in their pants if it ceased, so even the paltry rent and rates DH pays will still be gratefully received....but would DH be all that much inconvenienced if the lease he has, is ever annulled. After all, how much of his own money did he really put in??
  19. I hope the City Council has finally managed to figure this out too, as they seemed to be acting as though LS Ltd was BSC Ltd. Hardly surprising as BSC Ltd was a dormant company until very recently and DH could easily bamboozle them (although an intelligent chimpanzee could have done that).
  20. Janet - arguing requires a level of mental skill and competence, but Oppositional Disorder is a condition in which those afflicted are only capable of very basic level and automatic denouncement or contradiction. It's a condition which has, worryingly, been on a sharp increase in recent years, fuelled by social media and events such as the EU referendum and the US Election. In fact I suspect the incoming President of the USA suffers from it.So it's hardly surprising it features on BSF although thankfully it seems to be mainly confined to a limited number of contributors!
