Sgp & Swc Attendances

Too true. 2 years ago - at the Dubliner pub on the main drag - 2 pints of Carlsberg & 2 Burger and Chips = £37.50 !!! NEVER again! -
Sgp & Swc Attendances
TwoMinuteWarning replied to TwoMinuteWarning's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I went to Parken twice, in 2006 and 2008, and it was noticable on both occasions that quite a lot of people were still coming into the arena up to around heat 12. I formed the impression (which may be wrong) that the stadium was selling tickets cheap after the meeting had started. When I returned in 2010, there were hardly any latecomers. And later I noticed that the crowd for that year had dropped considerably. -
Sgp & Swc Attendances

They have, I believe. The only source I can now find consistently is the Polish speedway weekly, Tygodnik Zuzlowy. I dont know how reliable the figures are, but then some of the FIM figures were inaccurate in my opinion. And we don't know how either source accounts for the sometimes copious number of "complimentary" (i.e free) tickets. -
I have updated my chart showing all the reported attendance figures for each GP and World Cup Final since the competitions began. The chart is at http://www.internati...o.uk/extra9.htm

Swedish Play Offs 2012
TwoMinuteWarning replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
Just like to say thanks to Premier Sports for the coverage in 2012, and to manchesterpaul for the scoresheets for each match. I think Dave Goddard deserves a medal for his commentaries - such a relief from the adrenalin fuelled nutter on another channel - but I do think that Premier could at least give him an on-screen credit! Lets do it all again in 2013 -

Gollob an expensive luxury for Hammarby this year - 69 pts in 40 rides. Dosen't look interested some of the time. -
World Cup Final 14th July
TwoMinuteWarning replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I dont think the Joker is any more popular with the riders than it is with many fans. The "blame" for the rule rests solely with the FIM. Who must also expect the blame for the injuries which are going to be sustained by some poor rider who one day finds two riders immediately in front of him suddenly stopping. Potentially it's an extremely dangerous rule. -

This is a disgraceful commentary by Pearson and Tatum. It is repetitive to the point of total boredom. The ONLY things they are discussing are the delays and the virtual certainty that it will not proceed beyond heat 12. I should think that any casual viewers will have switched off by now, thanks to their depressing commentary. Sky should sack the pair of them, they are doing the sport no favours at all -
Speedway World Cup 2012
TwoMinuteWarning replied to mdmc82's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Don't forget that under the 25-heat 5-rider teams that has been in operation for the last few years, there was no reserve then either! Each of the 5 riders had 5 scheduled rides. So nothing has really changed - we still have no reserves. I'm not saying that's right - it's not - but remember that the reduction in riders from 5 to 4, and the reduction in heats from 25 to 20, is presumably an effort to cut costs by FIM / IMG / BSI (not that they would ever admit it), so the addition of a 5th rider to 4-man teams would defeat the object. -

The last time that was tried, a few years ago in Leszno, 3 of the 4 teams had riders who became suddenly injured! It made a mockery of the whole thing. I would like to see 22-heat meetings, 5 riders per team, the number 5 having two scheduled rides against the other number 5's, and up to 3 rides maximum as a reserve for other riders in the team. P.S Love your minimax race cards! -

Feed on Premier Sports is excellent Dare I suggest that, on a dodgy track, and 3 days before the next Grand Prix, the GP riders are taking things a tad easy??? -

Agreed, commentator (anybody have his name?) has obviously done plenty of research, and knows the sport well. And no manic SHOUTING! What a relief. Thank you, Premier Sports. Oops ... what happened to the feed? -
USA have certainly got the toughest of the two "semi-finals": Poland v Denmark v Russia v USA (Bydgoszcz July 7) - they need to finish at least 3rd to make the race-off, and Russia are no pushover these days The other semi is: Great Britain v Australia v Czech Republic v Germany (King's Lynn July 9)

Why No Live Tv Coverage From Polska In Uk
TwoMinuteWarning replied to Haza's topic in International World of Speedway
Or maybe GSI bought the rights to STOP Polish speedway being shown on UK TV, which could further affect the low attendances at many tracks .... probably not, but just a thought !! -

WIAKARAKA PARK MEETING CANCELLED http://waikarakafami...index.php?id=19 -
Everybody seems to have forgotten the very first Polish rider to appear in the UK Max Rech was a fighter pilot in the war, he later settled in Devon or Cornwall, and rode for St Austell in their league teams in the early to mid 1950's.
