I am still struggling to see the point of this, does any rider really make so much on merchandising that his number that he is associated with needs to be that of his number in the GP? Surely this is all made redundant by the fact that he does not get to choose what number he rides under for his club.
I feel that this would fall victim to the weather too often, nice idea in practice but I could not see a whole league take place due to the sheer amount of postponements that will be inevitable in the winter.
Also would a NL rider take this risk of riding in the winter and getting injured putting a NL team place in jeopardy ?
Seem to remember that track covers were used at the Berlin Grand Prix in 2001? Made no difference at all because they were placed over the track once it had already begun raining.
Can many so called 'sports personalities' show half the dedication and determination that Tai showed this year in winning the World Championship, I think not, however I think the lack of knowledge shown by some of the journalists from the BBC that interviewed him this week sums up his chances of making the top 10 of the SPOTY.
A Swedish rider will be nominated for a wildcard position for the forthcoming GP series. Would Woffinden have been granted his place in the GP this year had Chris Harris qualified into the top 8 last year? With two GPs in Sweden next year a Swedish rider needs to take part regularly in the GPs, especially considering the 4 year contract that BSI have with the Friends Arena a Swedish rider is needed to give the locals something to shout about. Considering the questionable decision to hand Harris a wildcard on two occasions how can it be argued against a Swedish rider being given a wildcard based on commercial reasons.
