  1. I feel the same way the teams mean nothing to me. The racing is just the same as it is over here, with most of the races being won from the tapes up by the rider with the fastest reaction time and the better bike set up. Until they do something to change the bikes then all meetings will carry on in this fashion.
  2. Don't Forget. To go along to Donnington this Saturday and Sunday. Practice starts 11 am racing starts 12.
  3. I presume that all the guys who rode for team GB, set up and maitain all thier own bikes and equipment. If this was a team for the Road Racers, then they would have had a squad of team machanics, and bikes prepared specially for the race. In our sport it is no wonder we came last, they should have gone out on the top equipment, with a dedicated team of machanics. The British lads where just to slow, that can only be put down to the poor preperation of the bikes. How many of them had riden in Poland, who knew what to expext of the track. Even the tour de France riders have better back up then our lads. Time they started to look after them a bit better and to also make the most of the younger riders and bring them up to par because we will need them in a year or so's time to came in and take over. As we stand at the moment, we will be lucky if we evn qualify in the future.
  4. The way they treat our young up and coming riders is a shear disgrace, they need to up things at thier end of things if we are ever going to see first class riders from this country as the top stars not only in TH EL but also on the World stage. I would hate to be a young 15 year old starting out now in one of the bottom leagues. It is time to look after these young riders better and get the most out of them. Not let them just continue to ride year in year out in lower leagues and never reach thier full potential.
  5. What we need for the U19s and the U21s is a league setting up from all the top nations and they race every week or every 2 weeks with 4 riders at tracks all over the world to give them the chance notetter themselves but to get the needed racing on other tracks. I am sure it would not be rocket science to start such a league. Who pays for them to get this much needed track time is another matter. Without something being done to help our young riders to become future stars is another matter. The GB amatuer boxing and athelitic teams seem to get away with it so why not speedway, or are we now just a long dead forgotten sport.
  6. It is time for the people who run the sport in British speedway to move on and bring in people that really care about the sport. The riders who are picked for team GB are the same ones year in year out, that have been proved time and time again that they are well below the standards of the other worlds riders. What we need if for the U19 & U21 to to be able to go abroad and to race against other teams to bring them on, because all this dilly dallying about with them is just not bring any young riders on fast enough. They now ride at reserve in the EL but it is nothing any diferent to what they are doing in the NL or PL that they currently ride in now. The BPSA needs to give all the young lads all the help they can possibly give them, so that in 3 or 4 years we have riders that will be up there and that can give the other teams a run for thier money. As things are going at the moment come 2017 or 2018. We will still be putting out team GB with the same bunch of old tried and failed riders that we are using now. Lets hope that the powers above give these young lads all the help you can give them, in the next 2 or 3 years. So we can have a team to be proud of again. Because what we saw of the performance last night it was an absolute disgrace to British Speedway.
  7. Well done to Denmark. Close call and right down to the wire. Just shows that the stae of speedway in this country has never been so bad. They would have been far better, just sitting back and watching, because they way they rode just showed that they where well off the pace tonight. It just makes us look the third rate speedway country we have steadily fallen to over the past few years. Lets hope that in the next few years we can see some young British lads come to the fore front of world speeday again and start winning out there. I think one of the biggest problems being that British riders are failing to ride in the major races to give them that bit extra riding in top compertions. We are now a long way from the glory days of British speedway. It was very disheartening to watch them.
  8. Darcy seems to have this big mental bloke when he dosen't win races. I haave the opinion that he thinks he is better than all the other riders out there and when he fails to win a couple of races he goes out and then tries to hard and then 9 times out of 10 he comes to grief. Trying to ride to hard and to fast. Some tracks it works on others he hits the fence, or just falls of. Other than that he gives it far to much trottle that he can't handle the bike, with the front wheel going into the air and doing an impresion of Skippy the Kangeroo. If he learnt to control himself a little better than he would make a far better rider. You don't always win races by giving it 100% with your right hand.
  9. He is one tough cooky. Even more so if he is back racing again on Thursday. These lads must be something like Robo cop. Anyone who comes out of a crash like that deserves a medal.
  10. The worst thing ever introduced to speeway is either the Black & White colours or in this case the joker as it makes a complete farce of the racing. It should be removed from all racing along with the tactical subs. Teams should win on the merits og the riders not give them double points or swaping riders to get to the top of the pile with a double point win. Luckily the Danes are still hanging in there even with the Swedes playing a Joker. it is very close but the Danes deserve to win tonight.
  11. Nice to see speedway as it should be raced without all the top GP riders raceing of from the start into the sunset. Think the Shefiel lads where helt back about by injuries then we would have had a true meeting as it was they struggled at times with the injured riders. Must say though thorouly enjoyed the meeting Great to hear that the 2 riders came away from those terrible crashes. We need more meeting like this The EL is far to boring to have to sit and watch at times same goes for the GP's it is just a long string of riders with the first away from the tapes winning the race. Made a welcome change, to see riders riding as thyey should do as a pair to keep the other teams riders behind them. Well done.
  12. Think back to the days of old upright engines. When speedway riders where men no the glory boys we see on the tracks today. Still love the sport, but the changes to the rules and the changes to the tracks and the bikes have changed it to what it has become today. Over fast bikes on slick tracks, and it is only the riders than get from the gate well that win the races. We see the odd close races, but those are very far and few. When do we ever see 2 riders work as a pair, not very often because thier team mate is usually so far infront, he dosen't even know where his team mate is.
  13. Never used to be like this. I can remember watching close racing, with pairs of riders riding as they should do and fighting hard to keep back the opposite teams pair of riders. Now it is leap from the gate and follow me if you can.
  14. Sky's coverage of speedway has dropped to once every 2 weeks if you are lucky. When they where the speedway Elite League sponsers you got a meeting on there every week. Looking at the fixtures list on sky it is one tonight PL and PL again next week, so that should make a nice change actually might some some close racing for a change. How come they didn't bother with the GP's and the World Cup beats me. They recond they didn't get enough viewers to warent the outlay to show it. Eurosport seem to be getting into speedway, I just hope that they keep it up. If Sky decide to pull the plug on speedway alltogether then maybe Eurosport will jump in and carry on where they have left off. Can't say I am really into the Swedish League. It is to much like the EL just 4 riders following each other round the track, most of the time.
  15. I have been following the Swedish speedway, some good meeting some terrible ones that are no diferent from what we see at our EL tracks. It is the speed of the bikes that causes the problems no matter who is racing it is 8 out of 10 to be a long strung out race. I think we have to give the young Brits another couple of seasons, before they come to the national side we have a fist full of good young riders now who are almost there but not quite ready at the moment to come to the front. Great win and good to see a team GB win again after so long out of the limelight. Hope they do well on Saturday. They derserve to do well and all the supporters deserve to see our GB team on the rostram again. I think they are in with a good chance if they all ride thier hearts out as they did last night. And yes Ward is a brat, never liked him and never will do. He is just to cocky for my liking and when things don't go his way then things start to fly.
  16. Good that the lads won. But not that much exitement. Other tahn the couple of riders seeing red lights. Was Rossi standing on turn 3/4 with a red flash light. Just to make it more interesting. Must say thaough it is time the stuppid Joker double points fiasco was knocked in the head. We didn't see it happen tonight, but it has happened many times in the past, that the team winning then loses the match when another team play the jocker and draw level and then go on to win the meeting. It should be run as the team with the most points wins if the others are 6 or more points behind then it is thier hard luck. If they can't win by fair means, then why make it so they can win by foul means. It is just what it says it is a Bl**dy JOKE. Oof the Aussies it was Doyle who rode the best out of them. Ward was terrible, the Americans where a one man team with a couple of lucky ride from the other lads, saying that though they still rode well saying they where so young, another year or so they should be pretty hard to beat. The Italians where there just to make up the numbers.
  17. One standard bike, with factory sealed engine,s Better track sufaces, that gives better riding and more spectator enjoyment One league, split North and South, and more help to bring on the young British riders Also as an extra the reserve riders should be picked much fairer than they have this year, quite a few of them are well above the standard to be in the reserve berth and should have been in the main team, it has not done anything at all to help the young riders along when they are riding against riders that should never have benn given a place as reserve.
  18. The lorry was there at Leicester on saturday night. It was just behind the refs box. It gave some great shots from overhead on the races. I even passed it going home on the A50, they sure made a hasty exit after the racing finished. I also counted another 9 camera's around the track they may have been more. I have no idea of the cost of seeting up by Sky for filming a meeting but they must be huge. I was impresed by the way the backroom lads quickly got all the eqipment removed and packed away. But I supose it is just a job to them and they do it week in week out so it is easy for them. They looked a great bunch of bloke to work with.
  19. Up the averages and let the top teams bring on the top riders that thier money can buy, is a sure way to end the top flight of British speedway, because if that happens there will only be two or three teams left in that league as the others that can't afford to pay for top riders will have to call it a day or drop down into one big league. And how many supporters would there be who would want to follow thier team with only 3 teams in the league top stars or not.
  20. To true a lot of our stadiums have been stuck in the 1960's time warp and that is not just the music but the stadiums as well. They have been neglected for many years and look so old hat. When you see the Polish stadiums it makes ours look very Micky Mouse. I know the promoter haven't got the money to biuld anything as grand as the Polish stadiums but they just need to take a step backwoards and take a look at what is in front of them. Some stadiums in this country are just terrible and they don't do anything to attract the fans. With a bit of work and a few pots of paint they could soon make them look a bit more inviting.
  21. Thrillpool are you real. Without the teans and the younger ones still at school, going to see speedway with thier parent or granparents then in ten years time, all will be left are a bunch of old dodders in wheelchairs, I am 63 and getting closer by the year to meeting my maker. I would love to see more and more young folks at all our tracks around the country to help keep speedway going into the years to come. We need them to follow the sport in the future. Maybe you should start your own league with only over 70's allowed in the stadium and all the riders to have a minium age to be able to race of 60. See how long your league would last and the clubs because in less than ten years every or most of them will be long gone.
  22. I really enjoyed his speach after the match against the Lions as a Lions fan he is a great ambasdor for our sport and he comes across really well. Great to see him before and after the match going across to the young fans, not just spending a few seconds signing his name but actually talking to them. When he gives up as a rider then we will have lost a great guy. Hope he goes into mangement as a team manager he would be there to help his team come together as a team.
  23. I go to Leiccester Lions with my 9 year old grandson and he loves it. Not sure if it is with it being on a Saturday night with no school the day after but the Lions have quite a strong base of younger memebers there.
  24. That is the biggest problem with the sport these days the riders have just got to greedy. If they don't want to ride over here for what the BPSA states to make evrything fair and squre, then they should just stop away. Because speedway will still be there without them and the races may be better to watch.
  25. It is not the top names that make the sport. You can see far better racing without them. I wouldn't bother who rode for my team if the racing was good. What is the point of attracting the top GP riders to have to fork out I don't know how much in start money and extra for points. The sport would still be great without them. As for dilulting the quility of what is on show. Would it be any worse if we went every meeting to be entertained by close racing and less of this dick follow the leader stuff we have come to call speedway these days. If the riders don't want to come then you can't make them, without the clubs being held to ransom for ridiculess fees just to get them over here. I am sure that if the British riders got the chance of riding in a top flight league we would see a lot of improvement in the qulity of riders that we turn out in the future insted of the backwater we have fallen into in these last few years.
