Poll: Age Of Speedway Fans....
weatherwatcher replied to Phil's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
At every speedway stadium throughout the country there are loads of unsung hero's who spend many hours of their own time with no financial gain for themselves doing jobs in and around the stadium, with very little in the way of thanks for what they do. If the clubs had to pay wages to all this kind and generous people, who love their sport and think the world of their club, who tirelessly, spend hours doing those jobs, who if the owners had to pay that wage bill, we the fans would have to pay far more to get in to watch the meetings. So I think we should all say a very big thank-you to all the people up and down the country at our speedway tracks who give up their own time, to clean toilets, pick up litter and do all the other roles they undertake a very big thank-you, because without you our speedway stadiums would be even more un-welcomiming -

Sounds good to me. So lets just go for 2 and a half years then. That would give him half a year to do some yoga and meditation to bring his mind, that is if he has one under control. He must be a real thico or he just likes constantly getting into trouble, which he seems to do on a regular basis. If he really sorts his life out and has the right attitude when he comes back, there is every possibility that he could still become world champion , because he has the talent, he just seems that he goes of the rails far to often.A real shame because he has everything going for him in the sport, he has some of the best sponsers, who will be thinking twice no doubt with all the rubbish, he and his oppo are saying at the moment. It would have been far better for them to have just kept quite. What they have both said has been nothing but sheer ridiculas and it is not doing his case or the way both of them look to genuine speedway fans. Both of them are bringing the sport into disrepute. They knew and where told at the court hearing that it would take 45 days and what it means is. They have to wait for 45 days not as Darcy said within the week and we hear them both going on about beinmg kept waiting and not hearing anything. They will not hear anything yet because the 45 days are not up yet. Don't they get it are are they both that brain dead that they don;t understand what 45 days mean. -

How can the BPSA keep letting Midllo spout his silly mouth off to the news media and also his ridiculas comments on twitter and they are doing absolutly nothing to stop him. I would have thought by now they would have placed a gag on him or at the bery least have given him a heafty fine. From the rubbish he has been printing over the past couple of weeks thay should also ban him from managing Poole speedway for the coming season, then that would really give the hard hat fans who are saying that Darcy is a super god and can do no wrong something else to talk about and give the Darcy 2 year ban to come a rest for a bit until they declare it to the press. If I was Matt Ford I would tell Middlo to be quite as he making the club and British speedway look very stupid. So I say 2 year ban for Darcy starting from the begging of this coming season and a 12 month ban for Middlo begging also at the start of the coming season for puting the sport in direspect, by making coments above and beyond his station. -

If you read what I said I quoted that ghe should get a 2 year ban which he deserves. If he dosen't soon change his way he will a forgoten name within the world of speedway or he will be know as the idiot that turned up for the GP after a night on the tiles before the meeting. So he should get what he deserves and that is the full limitr that can be imposed on a rider that comes to a meeting with alchol in his system. Middlo deserves to be sacked for all the coments he is making in the press and on Twitter. The BPSA should step in and put a stop to his antics as all he is doing and all the other idiots that are making stupid, we think Darcy is inocent fans should sit down and take a good look at the facts that he had done something wrong and this time he can't get away with it. The rules states 45 days after the hearing so how hard is that to understand, even my 10 year old grandson could get that one straight. Role on March 16th, so we can then get on with our speedway, without Darcy Ward, who can sit and twiddle his thumbs for 2 years and get some new mates to sort his head out for him, so that in 2017 he can come back and prove to us that he has finally learnt his leason. -

Not sure what year it was must have been 2008 or 09. that the Austrlian team came to the world cup meeting at Kings Lynn, they sat joking and playing about,They where acting like a load of clowns and so sure they would win the meeting, but it all went pear shaped for them, it was a picture to see their faces when they lost and had to get through the next round to qualify. They came to that meeting a totally different team, so I pressume they got a right old dressing down, The same Middlo, was also in the act mucking around with his two young stars, Ward and Holder, when he should have been more concerned with his own team. Darcy had that care less attitude for most of his following Career. Last season I saw a dramatic change in him, where he was not sure, that he was bothered riding anymore, it was just his attitude when he lost races, looking like a little boy lost, with his heada bowed and then going and sitting in the pits with his head in his hands. I think there was more going on in Darcy's life, then anyone knew, the drinking sesion before the GP was just a lpart of this very depressed young, lost rider, who seemed to have lost his way in life. He needs to get his life in order, before he ends up as a rider, who could have been a world champion, but fell at the last hurdle and was never raced again. -

Will be glad when this whole drama is over with. Not to long to wait to here that Darcy has been banned for 2 years, Middo has been sacked as manager for shouting his big gob off, and all the I love Darcy fan club realise that the lad has done wrong and will get his just rewards. As said a few posts ago, I hope he sees sense and finds some real true friends who will put him on a level coars, because those that he associates with now are not doing him any favours. So how many days have we left of the 45 because I have lost count. The tweets and news aticles will go down in history as the worst in our history, how can they even think that he is being done wrong by having to wait. If he comes back racing again after the ban and stays with the same bunch of friends and advisors, he will soon end up in trouble again and it will then be the end of him a great speedway racer, who has been lead astray and he will soon be forgoten only being remembered as the talant that could have been. -

Read the report and there was nothing in the article that gave away anything. Other than the fact, that we all know that Mr. Ward has to sit back and wait now. Had to also laugh at the the other article in that same paper that stated that the Mr. Ward could possibly sue the FIM for putting his career on a long hold. He should have thought of this when he sat in the pub drinking, the night before or the early hours before a GP. Sorry but he deserves all he gets, if the hard line Poole fans think for one moment that he is being mistreated, then they are a very sorry bunch indeed. -
Bspa Meeting With Ukv&i?
weatherwatcher replied to SteveLyric2's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I see at last we have managed to get back to the topic in hand. Just seen that Taylor Poole is one of the first bunch of Assies that have been officially named that his visa has been refused. So the issue with injured riders maybe getting a visa application has now gone out of the window. It will be very interesting how many actually get the nod and how many of them fail to get visa for this season. It may just get harder and harder for them as the years go by. It dosen't look that there is very much that can be done to alter the rulings they are making. -
Poll: Age Of Speedway Fans....

What needs to change is the majority of the speedway stadiums. That have not had anything or very little done to them for years. They look very tired and dilapidated now. It seems some of the owners are very much against spending anything on the infrastructure in the stadiums. Most of them are still in the 1960's mode. I go to Leicester a new purpose built track that is clean and friendly to the fans. When you go to other stadiums, not all of them but some it is no wonder that the fans stay away. It is not the older generation that stops people going, you don't actually go to look who is there, you go to watch the meeting. I went in the 60's and 70's when the barriers where wooden posts with steel cables so at least we have come on a long way since then, but we still have a long way to go. When you see speedway in Poland you can see why they have such a huge fan base, the stadiums are all far superior to anything we have over here and they make an effort to make the fans feel welcome in a stadium that is all seating, with top notch facilities Plus they charge a lot less admission than over here, they may earn less, but most of the clubs have the worlds top riders over there, something that most have turned their back on. Making British speedway a second rate el to what we had a few years ago. . -

I never said he would get a 4 year ban. I was only making a statement at what others where saying on this thread. If he gets the 2 year he should get he can still come back and make a statement again on the track, I hope he learns to keep his mouth shut and also to behave as a true gentleman. He will still be young eneough in 2 years time, that is if he has the heart in the sport, because of what I saw from him for the better part of last season, that spark had burnt out and he looked totally bored and couldn't care less if he was riding or not. He needs a rocket up his backside to get him to sort his life out. He should also find some role model to help him with the problems he has. The ones that give him advise now are doing him no favours at all. -

weatherwatcher replied to Seymour Dix's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
You make a 27 year old sound like an old age pensioner. If he has as much natural talent, that every speedway fan knows he has then he should still have it in him to make it to the top again. At the oustside he will get a 2 year ban, which he deserves, he has time and again dragged bad news into the press with his actions and for the Poole management to say that he a golden shining wonder and that he has a few problems that we will help him with only makes them look bigger fools or tools. If Mr, G. Hancock can still be up there riding and still beating the worlds best only goes to prove that if you have the heart to go out there race and still win, you can do it no matter at what age. -

If you think the feeds on Wars's twitter are bad has anyone read Middlos. They are an even better laugh, see that Middo is still helping Darcy out by taking to a football match at Chelsea and a good night out was had by one and all. Can't see if he evn got a 4 year ban that his career would be ended he is still young enough to come back if he truely loves the sport, still not 100% sure that his heart is still in it. -

From what I saw of Majic on the TV last season, he took the role of captain very seriously, a rider that will make the top of the tree and a true captain that liked to make the most and get the best from the riders in the team. I can see him getting to the tops of the GP series maybee not this year or next but haas plenty of time in which to do it. Why Poole and his sponsers have stuck by someone that only brings bad press time and time again beats me but they do. A brilliant rider, that is ruining his career, by the way he acts and behaves off the track. -
Darcy Ward
weatherwatcher replied to Seymour Dix's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Would have been far better just chosing Majic and forgetting Ward. He should get the sentance that is persific for the case of trying to ride, not just at the lower levels of world speedway but the top of the sports showcase event. No ah well you have been suspended for over 6 months so we will just stick with that and let you ride again this season and forget the whole thing. From the day the decision is announced he should face a long and hopefully life awaking period in the life of Mr. D Ward, prise idiot off the track. Just give him the 2 year he should get and lets hope that if and when he doe's return that he has learnt some basic common sense. -

Last week we had 3 teams that where still not up to full strength as you say only The Lions have now to make the name for the last rider, but I still say that this has held up teams being able to make the selections with riders srill hanging on for the place at Poole, what happens to those that have been waiting and now find that they have left things far to late to find a team, will Poole let them ride evry few weeks feeling sorry for them I very mush doubt it. -
Darcy Ward
weatherwatcher replied to Seymour Dix's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
So it now appears that a number of other clubs have to wait around for another 45 days in which to here the fate of Darcy Ward before they can name the remaining riders in their teams all because Poole are waiting to see if they can sign him or not before those riders that are also waiting on the desision, are waiting to see if they can get a place in Pooles team. We are getting very close to the start of the new season and teams are being help up by this stuppid desision of who will get the nod to ride for them. If I was one of those riders I would have left and found a club that really wants me to ride for them not be a last minute choice. Because Superman decided to go and have a few few pints the night before a GP. Lets just ban him for 2 years and hope that it will do him some good and if and when he does come back he will have learnt his leason. To become a top class rider, that we all know he is but off the track he is a first class idiot. -
Even worse than last years only showing speedway once every 2 weeks instead of a weekly slot. So it may be that they are only going to show it now once a month. It is time now for another broadcaster to step in and take over the reigns. Hopefully with a broadcaster that is comited as Sky seems to have put the sport on the back burner we could get back to seeing a lot better coverage than we are getting from Sky. It needs someone that would give a good exposure of the sport and can't see why they can't have EL one night and PL another night. Or is that asking for to much. How do Sky stand with holding the veiwing rights, would they hand over the rights if someone else stepped in.

Bspa Meeting With Ukv&i?
weatherwatcher replied to SteveLyric2's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Right. As I said yesterday and I hate to repeat myself. Can we get this thread back on track. It has now gone into a slanging match. Has anyone got any news on what is happening to the clubs getting their sponsorship back or how the riders are going on getting visa's for this coming season as it is now getting very close to starting. So please can we put the other matter to bed once and for all. Will check tomorrow and if it is just the same I will not post on this thread until it comes back onto the topic in hand. -

Can't be like the ones at Leicester then as they are well behaved and don't race around and always wait at the end of the meeting to talk to the riders when they give a post match report, to the crowd who stay to listen, to me it is these 10 and 11 year olds that will very soon become the 20 and 30 year olds. Unless we do more to get the crowds in soon speedway wil soon be a dead cause. Is it the young un's that are at fault for running about or the people they are with, my grandson sits with me in the stands other than when he wants to go to the loo and sits and enjoys every race. As do most of the other at the Lions, so I say we need them as like me most of us are getting on in years and if we can pass the love of our sport which I have followed for years to someone a far sight younger than me and at an age when I first went to see speedway then lets support them, it is up to those who bring the children and the promoters to let make them assured that they will not be allowed to run and race about during a meeting, a speedway track as with any motor sport venue is one dangerous place, even more so for the younger memebers of the public if they are allowed to run and race around. -

Snackette, just shut up please. This is a thread about the visa problems for the riders, not your personal rants and moans, most people on here are sick of listening to you know, so either keep to the topic in hand or just don't post. I don't normally get fed up with peoples posts but this one takes the straw. I is just your personal opinion compared to someone elses. -

No problems with breath test for riders in all meetings as the costs are small to do the test, they still need to have random test for the riders for any other banned substances as the cost of this is far more. Yes Mr. Ward needs a 2 year ban to show that the FIM take this matter seriously -

It is time that everyone started to bring lads of around 10 year old to try and hopefully get more young fans interested. Lucily at Leicester we have a great following from the younger members of fans, and it is very good to see. -

weatherwatcher replied to Seymour Dix's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think he is quite right what he said in that article. Darcy Ward has been having problems for most of last year with the sport, you could clearly see that he had lost his way, you only had to see that head shaking when he came off the track and sitting in the pits head in hands, I think he has real problems and he needs the right people to talk to him to get his life on track. If he comes back this year, which I doubt because he will get at least 12 months if not the full 2 year ban, he will still not have got his life back on track that is if he ever was in that frame of mind to become a sensible caring person. He needs help, he is a huge talent, that is going to waste, if he dosen't sort his life out he will have a very short passage in the speedway history of a graet rider who just wasted his career -

I can fall into 2 catagories as I am now 63 coming on to 64 and go to at least more than 3 meetings a year and also take my grandson and his dad if not working and my grandsons friend is going to start coming with us this season. So an old timer who like to get the younger generation involved in our sport. -

I am sure that day will come very soon, would not be at all suprised if they got the majority in the coming elections. Then the real fun will start. The only riders you will be able to see on our tracks will be British riders as they plan to stop all imigration, so if they do as they say and pull out of the EU all the European riders will be gone along with the Aussie lads and the Yanks. That will be real fun trying to make up 8 EL league teams and all the PL teams. The PL will have to depend on all the 16 and 17 year old NL boys and the NL will then have to use the Northen and Midland Devevolopment kids. Not sure who would make up thye places for the EL teams, but it just may come a lot sooner than later. How many true fans of speedway will still be on the terrace if this happens, I am sure all the prices for admission will have to drop by at least 50%. Still we may get to see some really close racing then and have a batch of British riders in the GP's in a few years time.
