I agree with you Dave but at the recent Boston Speedway Riders Reunion one or two riders were claiming to be under age when they started riding.

Hi Dave have found something about Ray Dole this is from the mid 1980's. http://wwosbackup.proboards.com/thread/815

Taken from the Bspa website. IN a further enhancement to the British Speedway website, we have re-introduced the Rider Index to the system. The index has been completely updated during the close season and includes information on every rider competing this term in the UK. Information for each rider includes their date of birth/birthplace, British club career, major honours, club honours, Grand Prix record, Grand Prix highlights and World Cup record. As and when there are any rider moves, team changes or relevant information changes during the season, then the index will be updated accordingly. We trust that this will again prove to be an invaluable assistance to media outlets, programme editors and supporters throughout Britain, as we strive to continually upgrade the service provided. You can view the index by clicking here - http://www.speedwaygb.co/riderindex2015 On the subject of Rider Indexes we have also added one for every rider who competed in the old one-off Individual World Finals between 1936-1994. The World Final index can be viewed here - http://www.speedwaygb.co/worldfinalindex The World Speedway Championship moved to a Grand Prix format in time for the 1995 season, where a statistical record of the full GP series can be found here - http://www.speedwaygb.co/sgprecords The complete World Championship Roll of Honour is available here - http://www.speedwaygb.co/worldchampionship

Can anyone give me any details on Jim Ryman Australian rider who rode for the Boston Barracudas in the 1970's. Contact details how to get in touch with him would be greatly appreciated. Last thought to be on a boat doing chartered boat trips in Australia. Would or could be possibly known as James A Ryman. Married a nurse from the Boston Pilgrim Hospital Lincolnshire in the 1970's. Thanks in advance if anyone can help me find his whereabouts. Edit The nurses maiden name possibly known as Christine Dawn Powell married to James Allen Ryman at Spalding Lincolnshire 1974.

Picture this Charlie Webster interviewing Chris Harris in the pits after Bomber had a small prang. Nige: Well Kelv that was a surprise Bomber decking it. Kelv: Yeah for sure nige. Nige: Lets get some reaction from Charlie with Bomber in the pits..... sorry Kelv the paddock. Charlie: OK Bomber what's that heap of scrap metal in the corner. Bomber: Well Charlie as Kelvin would say that's my motorbike its all bent except the handle bars which are straight and should be bent. Charlie: So what are you going to do to make it go faster and win your next heat Bomber. Bomber: Well er Charlie we'll make few alterations. Charlie: Like what Bomber. Bomber: Inflate the rear tyre with air and see if it will go a lot faster. Charlie: No kidding Bomber. Bomber: No. Charlie: Well its back to Nigel and Kelvin. Nige: We apologize for any bad language that Charlie was thinking. Kelv: Come to think of it Nige I think we should also apologize for the industrial language we both used early doors when we both trod in the same piece of dog dropping in the paddock earlier on when we were looking at the motorbikes. Nige: Yeah absolutely Kelv I blame Chris Louis paddock report for that. Kelv: Woah for sure Nige must miss it on the way out don't want that in the motor on the way home minging to high heavens. Nige: Yes Kelv and if the match gets to heat ten and whether it rains or not and the away side are leading more than 6 points they will get 4 league points. Kelv: Cor!!! no kidding Nige. Nige: Remember another exciting episode of speedway next week folks, citzens and plebs goodnight. Kelv: Goodnight. Mean while Jim White in the Sky Sports News Headquarters is hearing breaking news about reports through Sky Sports sources that they are telling him that there is tension in the pits at one of the nights meeting and that Charlie Webster denies ever thinking any bad language and that both Mr Pearson and Mr Tatum had got it all wrong. Jim says we will hear about that story later on in the programme. More breaking news from the Sky Sports News Headquarters that Floppy Norris and Chris Kamara will be co commentating on next weeks Elite League match while Charlie Nigel and Kelvin sort there differences out.

So if we perceive that Ched Evans should not have a job in football, then perhaps then should we have expected or indeed accept that Tony Blair should have been running the UK government while been in Rupert Murdoch's marital bed with Murdoch's wife. Pot and Kettle again.

3. Peterborough v Weymouth v Boston v Mildenhall on June 18, Vic Harding rides in heats 9 and 12, is this correct - shouldn't have Martin Yeates rode in heat 12 ? Possible error in the race formula as this was the first season the NL 4's was run. Sorry Steve cannot help you with this one this time. Have got the Boston home programme only. This was the riding order for Weymouth at Boston 1.Martin Yeates 2.Vic Harding 3.Chris Robins 4.Gerald Purkiss (Replaced Jack Walker) res. Trevor Charley If Weymouth were riding in Blue and riding in the same riding order at Peterborough as they were at Boston then Vic Harding would have been in heat 12. By the way the rider in heat 9 should be the same rider that rides in heat 8 because that rider rides in those two heats unless replaced. In that case with same riding order would have been Gerald Purkiss if riding or Jack Walker who he was replacing at Boston. Hope this helps you a little.

Boston V Bristol (inter League Cup) 14 May 1978
Barrycuda replied to steve19620's topic in Years Gone By
Glad I could have helped you. On a side note. In the following home programme the now late Gordon Parkins wrote in his programme notes entitled "Barracudatime with Gordon Parkins". This is a quote from this column "One thing that did annoy us was Bristol's involvement of the 'Guest Rider' rule for Henny Kroeze. This rule does not exist in the National League racing but the meeting referee Arnold Lee upheld Bristol's action upon interpretation of the Regulations that Senior League rules took the precedence whenever the two Divisions raced each other! All the same 'Bulldogs' could have replaced Henny Kroeze from within their own ranks had they so wished!". Somes up what the EL & PL could do within each team today in that above quote.
