I hope I am wrong about this but I expect a poor turnout on Saturday afternoon. The weather forecast is not very good (light rain in the morning), the early start time will put some fans off and the full price admission cost will deter other fans from attending what is, after all, just a warm up practice match. I expect the crowd to be less than half of what the it will be against the Bees on the following Saturday. The early start has put me off so I will be interested to hear from those who do go what the attendance is like. On the subject of attendances generally we have no facts to go on as to how attendances compare one season to the next but, if you look back through the Supporters Club accounts, you will see that the income from the 50/50 raffle has diminished since 2011.

Confirmed full whack on Lion's Facebook page.
-
I expect you will have to pay full whack!

For all you Lions anoraks out there the 2016 Speedway Regulations have now been published - see http://www.britishspeedway.co/2016_regulations_final.pdf

Jan Graversen still not signed up anywhere either!!!!!!!!!

I suspect that bends 1 & 2 will not be done before the start of the season. Whether they will get done when there is a blank Saturday in the season remains to be seen. I feel sorry for Glyn in all this. He should have been told to get on with it last Autumn not after Christmas when we can expect the worse weather. Also if the improvements don't work out guess who will get the blame!
-
The Lions are so fired up that they have not put his photo or details on their team page on the website!
-
Agree entirely!
-
Daft as it may seem I reckon the Lions promotion are hoping that he turns into a heat leader (even no. 1?) during the course of the season!
-
Are you certain its the Lions who have not paid Jason? Don't forget he was guesting for other EL teams as well as riding in Poland and Sweden.
-
Thanks Glyn. That's really helpful. Unfortunately the forecast doesn't look too good!
-
If you look at the photos on the Lion's web site you will see that they have taken at least 2 metres of bends 3 & 4 so I would guess that they would want to make sensible changes to bends 1 & 2 as well. Glyn is waiting for better weather (this may take some time!) to do bends 1 & 2. Perhaps Glyn could come on here and tell us when he hopes to start on 1 & 2.
-
Neither would I!
-
Half of me doesn't want to believe this but seeing how speedway is run I expect it's true!
-
According to the Lion's website there has been a problem with uploading the fixtures. Also the dates are not provisional, as shown on some websites (BSPA in particular), but confirmed dates. Wish someone would get their act together!
-
You need to look on http://www.speedwaygb.co/home.php .
-
They are on the BSPA website.
-
It's not all of them - just most of them! But, as you say, it looks as if something's going on. As usual we are left guessing as there is nothing on the Lion's website.
-
Thanks Glyn. Lets hope we get some dry weather soon then!
-
I am trying to stay calm and carry on but my paranoia went up a notch when I saw that Glyn was hoping to hold some training days in February. He will need the new bits of the track to have settled down by then so it does not leave a lot of time.
-
Yes I know that and Glyn has posted that he needs to wait for dry shale. The point is that none of the photos on the Lions website show any alterations to bends 1 & 2 - not even a line of red flags showing where the bends will be cut back to. Also on the Lions website it states "The foundations and a top dressing of shale have now been laid and all that remains is to re-lay the inner kerbs.". If Glyn is just waiting for dry shale before doing bends 1 & 2 why did they not do the earthworks and alter the drains on bends 1 & 2 whilst the machinery was on site for bends 3 & 4. O.K. I might be paranoid about all this but as far as I can see, and nobody has come on here and proved other wise, only bends 3 & 4 have been done so far and bends 1 & 2 remain untouched.
-
Its still not clear to me if bends 1 & 2 have been changed as well as 3 & 4. Could we have a photo to clarify things please?

If the season ticket holders are going to have secret perks how on earth are potential season ticket holders going to find out what they are without the management telling people on their website or Facebook pages? Also perhaps a nice kind season ticket holder might come on here and tell us what the perks are so that we can all have a good laugh!

Having followed the discussion about changes to the track and how the circuit at Beaumont Park compares to the one at Blackbird Road I have been digging into Alan Jones' History of Speedway in Leicester and have discovered that the size of the track was changed 5 times after it was originally laid out at 348 yards (356 metres) in 1928. In 1930 it was increased to 353 yds. (361m)and in 1937 it was increased to 360 yds. (368m). When the track re-opened after the war in 1949 it was increased to 382 yds. (391m) and then in May that year reduced to 364 yds. (372 m). In 1951 it was increased to 380 yds. (389m) at which distance it remained until the stadium closed in 1983.

Seems Lions fans are now complaining about concessions for season ticket holders instead of the lack of track alterations! Can't please all the people .........................
