  1. He looked so comfortable on the bike - watching him from the back straight he was coming off the 2nd bend so smoothly! How long has he been riding a Godden Jonny? If last night is anything to go by it certainly seems to be working for him!
  2. Apologies, I misread your post - that’s brilliant, thank you!
  3. I waited around for a while in the hope that an auction would be happening but it didn’t seem like anything was happening - shame if I missed it, but I hope a good amount of money was raised!
  4. Agreed - he gated well in a couple of races and perhaps was just over riding slightly in races that you’d reasonably expect to be difficult for him. Give him a couple of meetings and I think he’ll be picking up a few points here and there.
  5. An impressive display from most of the Lakeside riders tonight, with Adam looking particularly good. More than anything it was good to see some speedway after a long winter! Any idea if anything is being done with the race jackets? I could be wrong but it looked like they had been signed by the riders.
  6. Does David Mason ever team ride?
  7. Very impressed with my first visit to Rye House! First of many I reckon.
  8. That's a shame - I was planning to stay near there overnight after Cardiff for the U21 the next day.
  9. Couldn't agree more. I think most fans would have liked to see the team built around at least one of them, if not both. Great to see them both riding in the top tier though. And anyway, I'm a lifelong Lakeside fan, I should probably forget all about Kent now they're both in the NL 😄 Looking forward to the Lakeside / Eastbourne / Kent derbies. Good lad, we need more of that in speedway!
  10. Great to hear Shanes had such a good debut for the Pirates, I really enjoyed watching him down at Kent. Very entertaining rider. One for the future I hope!
  11. Sounds like a great trip Chris. I try to get to a few different tracks each year, but I don't usually string that many meetings together - enjoy!
  12. He didn't at first, but from this side of the gate it certainly looked like Zagar insisted and gave it a nudge with his front wheel.
  13. That's why I very rarely post on here these days - sometimes negativity is completely justified but at times it can be a bit relentless on here! I can understand why the promotion want to encourage use of Facebook and Twitter, especially given that it's arguably the best way of engaging younger fans, but I can't see any harm in the forum existing alongside for the fans who prefer that format for discussion. If a new Lakeside fans forum is created, I'd be interested in signing up.
  14. Thanks so much for the helpful replies - perhaps I'll start planning a trip!
  15. I'm tempted to head over to Berlin and check out the GP round there. I havent been to an ice speedway event before (I'm a speedway fan looking to try some new things!) - would someone mind explaining what the format of the GP is like and in what way it is split between the 2 days? Presumably it's possible to get tickets for just one day?
  16. Hi Julie - I would be interested in one of the medals if you still have one available?
  17. As a neutral for this fixture, some of the comments by the texter on the speedway updates site absolutely cracked me up! Highlights include: "Worth heading down to the A46 to see some passing because there won't be any here." "Could lose a bike down the massive rut on the inside of bend 1 but no one has hit it yet." "Great gate by 2 Bees. Joonas seemed intent on riding King into the burger van rather then riding together" "Danny 'cowboy' King might want to go and grab a trusted steed rather then the bike he is on tonight" "Harris then wound it on and produced a stunning and ultimately pointless ride to pass North on the line." Wherever you are Silverbee - sorry that Coventry didn't win as it's never fun to lose at home, but thanks for the humour (and to the speedway updates site)!
  18. Haha ... well I'm glad you boost the atmosphere when you are there! Each to their own, people are welcome to enjoy it however they want to, but personally I like a bit of noise and visible enthusiasm
  19. Keep on leaping - we need more fans like you!
  20. It seems to be fashionable to blindly comment that Lakeside don't travel well (as we haven't been much good away from home in recent years) but I'm glad that some people can actually be realistic and see that overall Swindon weren't weaker with those guests and were arguably stronger, particularly with Hans putting in a true #1 performance. I'm really pleased that the Hammers managed to get a point, and I don't think it'll be too long before we get some more on the road. I've said it quite a few times lately, but this team has been built to travel better this year - for some reason some people seem to ignore who is actually in the team and just assume that we'll be the same away from home this season. I don't think we're the strongest team on paper but we've taken some risks that could pay off.
