Lakeside V Leicester Elite League 27.03.15
Mjolnir replied to barrow boy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Adam Ellis had a much better night for Birmingham last night, so hopefully that's given him a bit of a boost for tomorrow's meeting. We'll need AJ up to speed to deal with Doyle - hopefully he's feeling better! -
Lakeside V Leicester Elite League 27.03.15

A very good guest! -
Great stuff, glad you got Josh's race jacket I agree, it was an absolutely brilliant and very memorable day!
-
I bet Nigel hasn't taken it off yet! Glad to hear that plenty of the other items sold too - wish I could have stuck around for more of the auction!

What an absolutely brilliant day! It was fantastic to see so many fans come together to raise money - I reckon a lot was raised and I hope it's enough to make a big difference. The atmosphere was great throughout, but the applause when Ricky came out at the start is something that will really stick with me. Being a Lakeside / Kent supporter I'm not a PL regular but in some ways that's what made the whole thing so special - fans and riders from all parts of the speedway family coming together. It was my first visit to Owlerton, and I must say it's quite possibly my favourite track that I've visited (besides my home tracks of course!). Facilities, presentation, track, racing - all excellent. Although having bags searched and hearing all the shouting about standing in the yellow area was a bit unusual! A special mention for Stead, who was incredible last night! I was pleased to get a set of Ricky's bike covers in the auction after the meeting - it's something a bit different in the collection as I tend to pick up a race jacket at the Ben Fund meetings. Ideally I would have stuck around to see what else sold and for how much but I had a long drive home. Did anyone stick around for the whole thing? Are many of the items going on eBay or did a lot of the items sell last night?

Marc Owen looked very good at Lakeside this evening!
-
I'm wondering the same - the Lakeside announcement said it was Danny and Danno with no mention of Sheppard. I think the Kent pair might struggle but it'll be track time nonetheless!
-
I'm looking forward to seeing Danny and Danno at Lakeside on Friday!
-
Excellent news that Ben will be riding in the PL for Redcar!
-
I have a small badge collection, around 30 or so, that I started a couple of years ago when I started going to away tracks more often. They're a sort of record of where I've been as I'll get one at each track or event each season - I look forward to adding the Ben Fund / Swindon 2015 badges next weekend! I only have one race jacket so far but I hope to get my hands on some more. I always enjoy looking at speedway memorabilia. It sounds like you have quite the collection of badges! And in glass boxes too! Is there a particular favourite in your collection?
-
That looks about right to me!
-
So how much does that leave us remaining for the 7th rider?
-
Also a good point!

Good point!

Fantastic news! If Lambert returns as well then that's all of the riders at the top my list to return next year! Although I noticed this was said about Ben on the Kent website: "Last year he had a spell at number one the first time in his NL career hed reached the top spot in a team and is poised to start 2014 in the number one race jacket for the Kings again." ... so perhaps Simon won't be back at Kent next year?
-
That's a very good start to the team building!
-
Jack Kingston has been confirmed for Mildenhall - I look forward to seeing him visit Kent next season!
-
That's a real shame if that is the case - I was looking forward to having another NL team to support! Although it's definitely better than nothing, and hopefully it will lead on to full NL the year after.
-
Having watched him at Lakeside all season as a fast track rider I think he could score even more points there than at Kent or Rye House - and he was very popular with the management and fans so I wouldn't be at all surprised if Jon Cook chased after him for next season. As I said though, I do think it's unlikely as he's also very popular at Kent and is obviously Len's asset. I do think it would be a shame for the fans if he didn't line up for the Kings again next year but with all the teams looking for riders near the top end of the averages I'm sure Ben will end up where he wants to be. I'm really hoping that he'll be one of Lakeside's assets that the team is built around along with Marc Owen. If not then I hope he's back at Kent if the work commitments are no longer a problem.
-
Danny Ayres is surely nailed on for a team place! I hope that Simon Lambert is back too. If Lakeside and Rye House enter NL teams next season I wonder if Ben might not be at Kent ... although I do think there's a good chance he'll be a King again.

Both Birmingham & Cradley Riding N L At Perry Barr In 2015
Mjolnir replied to lucifer sam's topic in National League Speedway
Brilliant news for both clubs and for British speedway! NL will definitely be even more appealing next season, and I've already been enjoying it since Kent opened. -
Having watched him this season at both Lakeside and Kent, I think he'd probably score more points riding NL at Lakeside than he does at Kent. I agree, it would be a shame for Kent though. If CTA don't continue as sponsors, I hope that Kent have got an even better deal lined up!

I didn't, Islander set one up first and I created another one by mistake. You're in the right one now, hopefully the other one will be merged in or removed at some point.
