This meeting looks like my idea of Speedway hell with a huge gulf in class, barely a rider i like/rate in the line up and being held at Stoke (the worlds most welcoming club). I wouldn't attend if i was air dropped outside Gloomer Road and handed a free ticket.

Somerset v Birmingham CS 10/4
Sings4Speedway replied to The H Man's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Feel like this is a hiding to nothing for Brum but equally hard to gauge anything from. If Schlein & Harris don't go through the card then they have had mechanical problems. Will be a tough test for the home reserves though and will provide a little indication of the direction the Rebels season is heading in. Ive been hard on Paco but he has done well so far and will be interesting to see how Grobbelaar gets on as there have been encouraging noises about him where in straight contrast i couldn't care less how Todd Kurtz stagnates for yet another season. Fingers crossed whatever the scoreline that one of the countries best race tracks produces some decent entertainment for those present. -
The safe fact is that with Batch, Doyle, Holder and the remainder of the Aussie crew making up a third of the riders due to compete on the 18th if the track is even slightly iffy there will be a lot of fuss being made.

Excellent from a Scunthorpe supporter side anyway. Basically his family has paid for him to come over, be set up with equipment etc so he might as well hang around a bit longer.
-
Do the Visa rules still apply now he is out of the team? Namely will he / his Father be paying for his stay in the UK while he travels around and gets in loads of free practice at the EWR? Or will he still be taking the required salary, accommodation etc from Scunthorpe and indirectly the paying supporters?

I don't know the numbers involved but the basics are that Wight likes both tracks, Wright will be one of the top performers in the league this year and had Wright been offered a deal on terms with that offered to Harris or Schlein i don't doubt he would be at Somerset right now (even with the poor way he was treated previously). Redcar could put him a deal forward as one of the top 2 in the side and thats where he ended up. I feel the Rebels loss is definitely the Bears gain this year.

Whilst taking neither side in the Belle Vue debate as that has been done to death previously i think everyone knows the SCB inspections are tick box exercises only. How many times have people seen a ref walk onto the edge of one corner then back to the box for a track inspection or poke at one air fence panel and deem it secured only to see them lift later in the meeting and riders disappear underneath them.

Thats it. Help required. How do i put someone on ignore?

If somehow Danny has a disaster and scores under 2 points a meeting from the next 3 all those attending will have witnessed a rider busting a gut with effort.
-
How badly are the crowds going to be affected due to this delay. There are plenty who won't risk attending a first meeting with a new track surface any more so the pre Easter Thursday meeting which was always liable to be a bumper event could now turn into a fraction of the original number. IF the unthinkable happens and the meeting gets abandoned then it will sink the Easter Monday meeting also which will have a large financial knock on for the season.

Im sorry but its clear List wasn't ready for racing at this level and shouldn't have travelled over. He threw his leg over a 500cc bike at the beginning of the year/late last year i believe. He and his family have thrown a lot of money away on this venture because he has been lured across the world with questionable promises and dreams (lets face it there is plenty of criminal activity that takes place in similar circumstances). But the ultimate blame has to lay with Scunthorpe & the promotion, they have a responsibility to ensure riders are up to the required standard to be out on track rather than take a gamble on someone who may be a superstar or not (lets face it British riders are not often afforded that level of faith). Jedd List could quite possibly find his Speedway career finished before its even begun.

Suspect the crowd will be much bigger a week later on the the Thursday of the bank holiday weekend. If it goes pear shaped expect some very ugly scenes or a much smaller than predicted crowd as every man and his dog(if they are allowed in) knows its going to be a balls up.
-
If practice and/or the first meeting on the 11th goes wrong for Swindon the knock on effect could be catastrophic. The following two meetings are held on the Thurs & Monday of Easter weekend so big crowds must be predicted and if it all goes pear shaped that is a lot of unhappy customers to deal with.

When Walker wasn't "ill" . In fairness to Sheldon & Josh they both came in mid season and were playing catch up. It went wrong before a wheel had turned when Cupitt got his 6th chance and the manager tried to use a illegal rider.
-
I think if the tail was Flint, Walker & Cupitt then Cradley would be delighted right now.
-
Oops i had forgotten about Whitmore. I think The top 4 will get plenty of points providing Halsey stays interested and McGurk will pick up his share too. Surpised at though Spencer as despite riding pre war equipment he has always been quick in the past.
-
Did anybody go along and see Cradley practice last night? If so how did the side look? I think this could be a very strong side this season.

The above is spot on, its been long overdue that the clubs should be dictating the deals on offer and if riders choose to accept what is offered or not that is their prerogative. Riders are not bigger than clubs and Craig was clearly trying to get the club to change the policy just for him. Should he have been announced prior to a contract being signed no which is wrong from both sides but Cook has effectively allowed himself to be left out as he didn't secure a deal a P'bora have to find a late replacement. Its just another in the long line of saga's that follow CC around and will likely continue until he has upset every club or drastically re-evaluates how much he thinks he is worth. -

What odds on Rory being treated like a proper number 8.....namely standing around all evening and then getting a token run out in ht 14
