  1. Apologies i had been following his Swindon form closer than his Brum form which has been slower to start however i do believe that Zach will go on to a world class level and certainly would never be considered in the firing line.
  2. Im really starting to feel for the Brum supporters as the poorly built team is really starting to bite. Winning sides are built on riders with bargain averages or who have been improving steadily year on year, this team has been built on sentiment and there is little place for that in the sport if you want success. Zach Waj has stalled at the start of the season and should really be performing better but is likely to come good, Ash Morris is the best value signing in the side but asking him to bust a gut as 3rd heat leader in a losing side is a big ask every week. Oyster card will be considered a success this season if he treads water but is likely to continue his downward slide and Newman looks to be having the same season he has for the past 4 (i thought he would finally kick on but thats been said before). I assume Thomsen is paying for his rides as he would have been dropped from every other team in this league and possibly below it. Im not really sure what is the way back though as breaking the bank on signings that just aren't there won't work, sticking with the same side and hoping is costing matches and supporters. Perhaps sort the track so that the poor gaters can at least come through the pack and offer up a side of crazy entertainers? Im not sure of the answer but its clear one needs to be found sooner rather than later.
  3. Well if they were included in the purchase price at least Buster is getting every pennies worth.
  4. Certainly makes the Panthers look like they now have the best reserve pairing in the league and should be good for plenty each. Wright will battle hard but the rest looks like a huge miss match. The reserve differences should stop it being a total riot but still Robins by 10+
  5. Crikey things have got serious if they have started enforcing wristbands.....that tyrannical Chapman
  6. Great to see such a large number in the 125 class. The 250 numbers look a little alarming and adds to the fear that more and more riders are looking to make the jump from 125's straight onto 500's.
  7. Good spot. I was working on his 4.55 which he started the year on. So basically he would have fitted until today. Often the difference between winners and losers is the winners do not hesitate when an opportunity arises.
  8. Providing averages haven't been skewed Bacon for Shanes would be a good call, he showed he could be competitive in the top flight before he got injured last season and has been on the rise year on year. His record of winning heat 1 in the Champs this year shows he is very capable of beating the standard of rider he will be up against.
  9. With the greatest of respect should the Lions need additional Saturdays later in the season that the Cubs are occupying then the junior side will be pushed back to their Sunday race day.
  10. I believe Lawlor is still floating about but has temperament issues and no NL place for regular rides. JPB is a waste of time as proven previously. Everyone loves the pie man but if i was genuinely looking someone like Luke Harris could really progress given help, Alex Spooner is a has bikes will travel rider, otherwise its a complete rookie but see what can be done to assist? Ben Rathbone would always have the best equipment in the pits?
  11. very true however the only other 2.00er that looks like being discarded is Chessell and he will likely retire if that happens. Very limited options left though with distances, Sunday race days being blockers. I fear patience has run out with Phillips though (justifiably so) and a fresh face even scoring same low/no points would be better regarded if they were showing some improvement.
  12. Certainly seems like the restrictions on using the race night of choice is hitting some harder than others? Although was last nights attendances affected additionally due to the repetitive nature of the visitors? There has to be an element of fixture planning sense applied at some point as its clearly affecting takings and 1200 weekly doesn't sound like a sustainable model for top flight speedway.
  13. I guess the follow on questions to this are is the track equipment sub standard and in need of upgrading or are those operating the equipment not sufficiently qualified to do so? (its certainly a big coincidence that the wonder wheel, bowser and hydraulics all broke on the same morning). Im certainly not digging at the hard working volunteers but if people need more guidance that is down to the club to ensure it is supplied.
  14. Good nights work from both sides but the overall view is that Swindon would be happier. Close result and you have to feel that Lampart would have bettered the score that RR returned. It does expose the tail when he is missing but the rest of the side is only going to keep getting better. Personally i feel this Robins side is a Bacon for Shanes swap away from being Champions. Unfortunately for the Stars they are probably 3 signings away from it.
  15. Certainly be interesting to hear the gate numbers after this one? High proportion of home support anyway but will fans be happy to turn up and see the same team get another thrashing or will they be bored of watching the same riders in quick succession and stay away?
  16. But card issuers will refund and losses against contactless fraud and see it as a trade of for swifter processing. Should fraud occur via PIN its a lot harder as there are questions asked regarding how your pin info was gathered in the first place.
  17. Swindons top 5 to get 45 between them and Waj to get the decisive point in Heat 2.
  18. You ate and lived to tell the tale. Things definitely are picking up at Stoke.
  19. Backed the wrong Stoke exile as Rob Shuttleworth would have been a far wiser choice.
  20. The RR choices throughout were just bizarre. Ht1 95% of team managers would give the reserve who had never been to the track (Kelly) this one so they were prepared for ht2. Ht5 as already stated Wallinger was out in 4 & 6 so to give 3 on the bounce was crazy especially when off the pace and sliding off unchallenged. Ht8 The majority here chuck out the strongest option in the "easiest race". Normally this is where Wally would have gone but as he couldn't beat an egg on the night Brooks would have been the next logical choice but he had been wasted in ht 1. Thats not the benefit of hindsight or armchair management that is how the vast majority of team managers would have played last night out and the vast majority would have achieved at least an away point for the Fen Tigers. Time will tell if its costly.
  21. Have to say that i have never had an issue with age of any rider in my mind if they are good enough they deserve a place regardless of years old/young. My major objections is to riders who offer little and block up places whilst going nowhere like Wallinger last night. Ledwith looks a good/cheeky signing and will enjoy a swan song season before a raised average forces retirement.
  22. Good solid all round display from IOW to take the points last night, impressive return from Wirtzfeld again and solid scores from the engine room. Despite the heroics from Danny Ayres along with Edwards & Leek it feels like an opportunity missed to get something from the meeting ? Was Vasey in charge because the RR rider picks were frankly odd including 3 rides in a row for the poor Wallinger who's pointless return was costly but hats off to the Warriors who delivered and took home the points.
  23. Will have to break this down into chunks as i just struggle to read the blurb above. I don't rate Shelby as a rider but don't slay him on every thread i can. Been using one of Tai's 2008 bikes? Im sure he will be delighted to know you have shared his love of museum pieces. There are plenty who bust a gut and work log hours to race and i take my hat off to them all, i have no issue with that although it doesn't make Rutherford special in the slightest. Its a forum and my opinion is that Rutherford is occupying a team place that would be better used going to a rider who is going to develop and benefit from it. However i am not a promoter and the opinion from Stoke is that a rider in the NL who has been hovering around the 3.5 mark constantly but has some better days is worth the use of points, as the season progresses it will become clearer who's judgement is better.
  24. The fact that Polands additional squad members Dudek & Drabik would take the 1&2 positions in most countries teams shows the alarming gulf in quality.
  25. Big test for IOW in the NT group opener. Plenty of interest with Ayres & Edwards quick around the Island up against Wood and Morley. Plus the new reserves with both Wirtzfeld & Kelly in strong early form there could be some excellent entertainment on show tonight although i feel Brooks will be the difference maker for a narrow away win.
