  1. Sadly this can happen in the sport and whilst very annoying for all involved (riders, families & spectators) the priority lays with the injured rider. Wishing whoever it was a speedy recovery.
  2. The cart or driver? Well it seems to be one good meeting one bad at Stoke so i had better check the calendar to see whether its worth a visit when im next up in that neck of the woods.
  3. Bo jangles i have been harping on about this for years. I hate RR as it really drags meetings out. Personally i would like to see it limited to twice a season per side max (to allow for breakdowns traffic etc) then the rest of the meetings use a number 8. Perhaps adjust the riding order if necessary i.e stick one reserve in the main body and use the number 8 at reserve? Keep guests for doubling up riders (and somebody please sort a sensible fixture list out!) but enforce number 8's the rest of the time. It will not only provide valuable track time to graduating riders but also help with the flow of meetings not to mention the exploitation of RR that some teams choose to utilise.
  4. True but always harsh on riders like Perks who improve and then get the chop.
  5. Very poor decisions by Rye House IMHO. Yes Kennett has had a poor year away but a 10 point rider at home is not easy to find. Add in that he has been stuck at number 1 all season because neither Scotty or Bomber have upped their games either. Now Eddies average has dropped another club will benefit rather than Rye. Then on to poor Ellis Perks who has been the star of the new system and is dumped due to numbers. Hardly inspiring any riders to want to step up. Ive no doubt he will get picked up elsewhere but his life will get tougher as he is now saddled with a higher average. If he fails to secure a new team place the Rye promotion should hang their heads at stifling the progress of a talented young Brit/Aussie.
  6. Penny drops. However another team of guests is hardly inspiring.
  7. Never thought having Bowen in the side was an issue. It was the inclusion of Clifton that prevented Ayres or Shanes returning and would have made the team look far more solid. As for the match up it has to be Eastbournes to lose. Hoping i might be able to pop down for it (depending how much work gets in the way?) as whatever the outcome it should provide some entertainment & thats what i desire from my speedway these days.
  8. Really? Thought Coles was declared in the IOW side? Unless there are changes on the Island also? I might not be a huge fan of Stoneman but would hardly be enthused about this move.
  9. So who else is attending? Going to be a long list i suspect
  10. Crack in the back end sounds like a picture i wish he hadn't shared!
  11. Thought the preview on the Kent site read as as bitter and deliberately provocative. Whilst a bit of rivalry is always good i feel the press office is getting slightly resentful about recent events.
  12. Another genius move. Rutherford has been loyal to Buxton and has spent most of the year riding out of position and still gets dropped. Halder will be unlikely to return next season and now so will Rutherford. Buxton have a tough time securing riders as it is without the constant chopping and changing of the side. As for the honest explanation from Mr Pipe? Its got more spin than an ashes tour.
  13. A lot of people ordering late? Last minute decisions to travel or do prices drop nearer the time?
  14. Liam tends to set his bikes to drive really hard which can cause them to lift. If he gets out too wide at P'Boro and into the deep stuff there could be problems. Tom is a good gater anyway and has an excellent setup however he has become impatient and is starting to develop a reputation for rolling / jumping at the tapes which is costing him.
  15. The sport is a numbers & performance game and will always be harsh on some. Campos is never going to be on my exciting riders list but he can do a solid job and score the additional points that IOW need to get some wins on the board.
  16. Don't think he wants to be. As it stands he can remain a freelance rider taking bookings as and when he wants (or until an actual average catches up with him) and as he is in demand hes not going short of rides.
  17. Roberts looked pretty well helping around the pits at P'Boro yesterday although i didn't get to talk to him regarding the current state of his injury.
  18. Thought about this after the positive reviews from Mildenhall yesterday but the opposition was stronger which made it a better spectacle i suspect. I did initially think the Hammers would do ok if they fielded there top 4 but as they are not and theres no Bowen i suspect the Dream Team will run riot so going to save my pennies.
  19. Is he replacing Leek or Roberts? Either way its another strengthening signing.
  20. Personally i enjoyed the meeting and the riders seemed to also. Definitely less dirt than has been previously but gave the riders confidence to attack it and either set up to drive on the slicker inside or use the spectacular wide line. This resulted in plenty of passing, several races with no distance between first and last and yet minimal dust. Id imagine the issues Friday played a part but there was definitely a feel good factor around the showground and if the entertainment stays like that i will keep making the journey to enjoy it.
  21. Very unfortunate. Would Cook & Hazeldon fit? Id imagine so and whilst not big name signings they would certainly both boost IOW's points tally.
  22. Might not be popular with the Eastbourne fans but from a league perspective i think its great that Stoke look strong in this one. The past few years have seen the league decided based upon matches between the top four as every other match was an almost certain win. This year the whole league looks far more competitive and all the better for it.
  23. Anybody know what averages the likes of Spooner o'keefe and woodhull are hitting? The first two have almost certainly done their 4 meetings?
  24. All very good points made & certainly there is no easy answer i was just wondering what the current rules actually are (if there are any?). Imagine for example if Dan Bewley had decided to remain unattached for his whole debut season? He could have guested for the whole season to the highest bidder and dramatically effected results and overall the league.
