Certainly looks likely given the guest appearances that he's made plus the limited amount of effort shown by one of the reserves. Given that Spooner is guesting for Mildenhall on Sunday as an unattached 3 pointer i suspect an announcement won't be made until Monday?
-
Fair enough. To be honest i thought Jake was taking a year out but given his twitter status it looks like he has itchy gloves. Id be very surprised if he was anywhere but Eastbourne so i guess the delay is who the other rider coming in is going to be?
-
The problem is that Coles is mates with the Dugards, has moved to the south coast and has a job down there as well. Im not saying that Eastbourne have ever done anything but put the needs of the club first but i suspect Connor will be given more time than another unconnected rider. Bit of a merry go round but if Bacon went to Newcastle, Greaves to P'Boro & Coles to Ipswich it would give all riders tracks they are more suited to without impacting their NL teams.
-
He was told to return to the pits as he had lost a chain cover when doing a practice start (ironically had it fallen off at the actual start no action would be taken) not sure if he would have been timed out anyway but going round the tapes just confirmed it hence the accompanying Benny Hill music which personally would have been better reserved for the air fence replacement attempts.

Think Morley could certainly do a good job especially at Home & despite struggling for P'Boro IF Tom Bacon became available i think he could also do a very good job for the Diamonds.

Peterborough Panthers 2017

Only on his birth certificate. Physically & enthusiasm he is 19. (Mentally probably about 9 ) -
Struggling to gather much enthusiasm (once again) for the pairs meeting. Looks pretty much like a glorified practice session although it would be nice to see Ben Morley back but a tenner for 12 heats of riders who are there week in week out seems a little dull. Normally i would get my extra fix at Mildenhall but with Kings Lynn in town it doesn't look much of a match so i guess its a coin toss between Eastie & P'Boro for this weeks pennies.

Ipswich Witches Vs Glasgow Tigers Thurs 4th May C1
Sings4Speedway replied to Pob's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
As correctly stated James has several continental contracts signed for grass/longtrack and would be foolish to break them. He is very aware that his best prospects of becoming world champion are down that route rather than speedway. He is also clever enough to realise that his continental stiff could stretch on for years whereas a Championship position could only last a season. I guess it boils down to which 10 meetings he would miss? if they were away the guests could be found who go well at the respective tracks? -
Birmingham Brummies 2017 Hat Trick
Sings4Speedway replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in National League Speedway
I have always been of the belief that Danny King recommended Hume. Smith guested for Kent @ Brum and JPB obviously cut his teeth at Buxton. Either way all 3 of these riders along with Tom Bacon all did their early development elsewhere with Birmingham scooping them up once the level / averages fitted. -
Nobody is expecting miracles but with the amount of effort shown by the Warriors promotion surely its not too much to ask the same from their riders? Mullins may have been plagued by mechanical issues most of the night but history suggests he has a tendency to pull up at the back. At least if a rider tries for 4 laps they will endear themselves to the fans like Jamie Sealey appears to be doing.
-
Top 4 for the islanders doing their jobs but the tail is hurting them. Govier back to early, Sealey giving plenty of effort which appears to be more than Mullins is offering. Does he realise this is his last chance saloon? Swindon select all chipping in points and look early favouritesfor the final.

Kings Lynn V Eastbourne May 3rd
Sings4Speedway replied to Hunters's topic in National League Speedway
Cheers. Works nicely for Eastbourne then as Brennan won't get a new average until June (possibly end of June depending when the Kings Lynn match is rearranged). People are just pitching names & suggestions after all it is a discussion forum. Plus i haven't heard any suggestions for an unattached 3 pointer who has more Arlington experience than Niall. -

Strudwick has a new GTR so if he could get some set up pointers from Brennan he could do a job at reserve for a few meetings. As for changes its who can come in causing the big problem, Knight has already opted out so as a big name its only Shanes who is available but does he want weekend racing? Are the averages done by date now or 4 home 4 away? -

Has Cottham been back on a bike since his last mishap? Does he even want to come back? -

It shows how crazy the sport is at present when suggestions of average manipulation are suggested in the NL (and worse that it actually happens). In any other sport any indication of match fixing is severely punished and rightly so. I personally dislike RR especially in the NL and feel it should be unattached 3 pointers used. If Eastbourne are going to be proactive perhaps they should look at identifying a 3 pointer and giving them some laps around Arlington in advance so they are as well prepared as they can be if/when required. -
Big mistake for Kent to host a Buxton select on a bank holiday and very flakey from Buxton. After 2 weeks of poor meetings and now little opposition I'm definitely giving this one a miss but fingers crossed the weather behaves for those who do attend
-
Guest assumes the average of the rider they are replacing.
-
If by meaning the Kent team declaration is illegal because they have a rider named within the 1-7 who is ineligible to ride at present then i would certainly agree with you. As for the SDL side it was certainly legal but was it in the correct spirit? No skin off my nose either way i just hope those running Weymouth & Exeter on a voluntary basis are not too disheartened by it.
-
True although it rears its ugly head every time a team runs RR and effectively spoils most heat 8's. As for the nos assets in the NL its truly ludicrous. The teams that nurture, give the initial breaks & take the initial risks on rookie riders no longer have the ability to make them an asset or prosper from the success if a higher tier club wishes to buy them in the future. How many higher tier teams (Scunny aside) are doing anything to help the progression on the next generation of riders?.
-
Well thats 6 quid i won't get back. Im normally hugely entertained by MDL/SDL but last night was 8 processional races between some very mismatched teams. Kent tracking 3 NL riders doesn't really sit with the spirit of these leagues with me & i certainly didn't get the sense from the stands that the majority had been entertained. There has been some track work during the past week but it appeared to leave turns 1&2 cutting up quite badly whilst 3&4 remained slick. Some very dodgy starts which would have been pulled back at NL & excessive 2 minutes when it was Kent riders being waited on. I applaud Kent for running in the league and providing invaluable track time to riders and perhaps next time it will provide some level of entertainment.

Lakeside V Kent Friday 21st April
Sings4Speedway replied to waco's topic in National League Speedway
What are the rules regarding guests? I thought a guest had to either be from another declared 1-7 (equal or lower than the average the rider they are replacing, extra allowed when its a home match etc etc) or an unattached 3 pointer? I can't see Hurry fitting in to either of those categories? Obviously as a challenge match Lakeside can field whoever they like but moving forward is Hurry allowed to be utilised? -
Makes sense and quite right. However the premise of the the sale of the GTR engines is that anyone can buy the exact same one that Freddie is using & there was some kind of time guarantee before a V2 version will be released? If he was simply testing on a hired track then fair enough but if he was using one in a competitive meeting then it goes against everything that has been declared so far.
