I was told Turner signed a few weeks ago so guessing thats fallen through?. Either way as covered by other posters the season is over, 3 matches left and no possibility of getting in the playoffs so why waste any money on new signings.

Survival of The Premiership?
Sings4Speedway replied to Najjer's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
A huge factor is that one size doesn't fit all. Talk of clubs like Poole, Oxford and Glasgow being incentivised to move up? what incentive, lose the preferred race night of current supporters, lose the ability to turn a reasonable profit at a level that is providing entertainment. A huge amount of teams in the UK are running at least one level above where they can survive/afford and invariably these teams are then tracking weaker sides, losing matches and sliding slowly towards folding altogether. Barry and co on IOW are not geniuses but they know what their audience responds to and how to operate within their budget, of course the Nora approach won't be for all but thats the point, with so many individual business 'people' the rules and operating model will never reflect fairness across the board. Plenty of sports have seen boom and bust over the years maybe its simply Speedways inevitable turn? -
To be fair Jack Smith hates Iwade, he was tripe when Belle Vue came last season and i was shocked he bothered to make the trip this time (probably wishes he didn't). As for Brum the name ive heard thrown around will excite nobody (again)

Disaster for Kent in front of a decent crowd. Mwssing with the track a few days before a meeting and chucking down shale just because they have been donated it is madness. Losing a rider through injury is always dissapointing but losing the faith of loyal paying fans is even worse.

Looking back over the predictions thread and the vast majority had Berwick in the bottom two. Have to admit that i didn't see as many poor home defeats coming but it was an uninspiring team when built and not sure if the changes have added any strength at all.
-
Can see an absolute Oxford maullibg dished out today. 1-7 side by side only Naylor looks better in his position than his opposite number. Its going to take any team something special to stop Oxford this year.
-
No reason that the whole team couldn't get full or paid max's. Only squabbling would be who gets the bonus ride in heat 15 (all hypothetically of course).
-
To be fair he has been out practicing and was on the IOW the week before but i get what you mean definitely fast for no actual recent racing. As ever the talent will always remain but how long will the focus and dedication. A 35 year old in need to two decent bikes (and other kit) with a history of poor machinery maintenance and temprement. Its always a pleasure to watch Steve but would anyone want to rely on him every week?

Wolves vs Kings Lynn
Sings4Speedway replied to Fozzie4388's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It has a salary cap for the majority of the squad but with so many exceptions (can't actually remember how many). Either way the caps are far too high and 3 clubs into administration this year already. Far too many speedway teams follow the same principles of tracking teams they simply cannot afford. -
The only reason i know is because i was questioning how they lined up and was equally surprised.

Wolves vs Kings Lynn

Because thats working so well in Rugby Union.....clubs need a budget to work to that is proven to be affordable otherwise the few that are left will go like many before them. -
Lyden has to be at number 2 as his average is 3.50. If all three riders (Lyden, Wood and Simpson) were on 3.00 it would have to be Simpson in the 1-5 owing to him previously having a higher average than the other two.
-
He quit the NL team too. They then swapped in Clegg. Think the morale is good at Northside currently don't know if KB would offer a great deal to the side.
-
My bad should have put without....
-
So riders like Clegg, Kinsley, Mulford, Kingston who all started the season without NL spots or Bebee, Rathbone or Douglas who started on the sidelines rather than being able to take the place occupied by Congreve. If there is a limited amount of heat leaders why lobby to increase the points limit (other than to accommodate Bickley and Hook). As it happens nope not the biggest fan of the Marson situation either but just like Wood theres nothing i can do about it. I will always admire your commitment and support of your club Blobby but as an outsider looking in my view (for the limited value it has) is that the Edinburgh academy is a distance away from where it could/should be.
-
Including an aussie in his late 20's as a 3 point rider who isn't even achieving his average. Hard to argue that any brit young or old, ready or otherwise wouldn't add more value to the sport than that.
-
But the points limit was raised so that certain commonwealth riders could be accomodated , ive got nothing against them personally but where is the benefit to GB speedway to include them? Mildenhall and Oxford made poor reserve choices but teams do that every year, some riders are clearly not ready some are nothing new there even if its plain to see. Turners not racing in the NL......yet.
-
Lets be honest Roynon would have got a place anywhere, likewise Spooner so maybe Simpson/Lyden would have gone without. However with Hook, Pearson, Turner and Congreve blocking places there are always 2 sides to a coin. Then of course theres Dayle Wood fiasco, Edinburgh only have self interests and are able to dictate what they want by the influence the promotion holds.

Wrote it all before i went out . Fact is Edinburgh removed Simpson and Bickley from the team and added Clegg and Parker, the next day Simpson dropped to a 3.00 average and 14 days later hes reintroduced missing just 1 match (and in fact became free to take several guest booking in that time). The rule used to be that if you were taken out of a teams 1-7 you could not be redeclared into that 1-7 in the same season (bar 28 day injury cover) now riders can be reintroduced after just 14 days which makes average manipulation potentially rife.
-
So Parker sent packing after a single meeting and Simpson returns on a 3.00 with Clegg slotted into the side. Don't know who voted to introduce the 14 days return rule (rather than the previous not that season) but its been used to clever but farcical effect and just belittles the sport even more. With this, the insistence include Commonwealth riders and still tracking poor sides i have to question if Edinburgh's NL side has done more harm than good since its inclusion.
