  1. Genuine question is Matt Marson in the UK or AUS at the moment? I think Leek didn't have enough money to go racing but maybe a short season would help?
  2. I feel Harris is unlikely but equally it would be foolish to release Spooner without a replacement in mind / lined up unless there are multiple changes which again feels unlikely. I guessing as IOW have only just withdrawn it won't be Campos, King and Wirtzfeld deserve a chance somewhere but given the other teams maybe Kent will be bold an add another 3.00 pointer
  3. IOW have withdrawn from the BSPL and therefore cannot run in the league. Roughly translated as we don't agree with the way you are running the NDL and want no part of your tyrannical rule. More will come out in the wash but IOW view speedway as a product across the leagues and not just about success for their own club/finances. Even purely based on this season they would face pulling apart the team they built whilst a lot of replacement options have been snapped up, paying the various licences and insurances for a much shorter and uncertain season, relying on being able to secure sponsorships from company's likely struggling due to the pandemic, the list of reasons for any team not to run is quite compelling but i still think the reasons are deeper and more long term.
  4. That team would take some stopping too be fair and looks much stronger than anything built so far. Not sure if the bridges are still burned for Harris as Len doesn't forgive easily and was upset when Luke declined to be a club asset.
  5. Yeah ive heard several threats regarding Lydd without any action but there was an amateur league that was due to run out of Eastbourne a few years back under a different banner but riders were told they would be suspended if they took part so it never got off the ground. Being enforceable isn't always required just the threat to many who wouldn't be able to afford to take the governing body to court over it can be enough.
  6. Lawlor at Leicester? Smith has really gone off the boil. I agree and dont see many benefits for Clegg. The Stoke links have plenty of push for both team places but im not sure how long Alcock will remain protected.
  7. Personally id look at hosting challenge matches against ex/ghost teams, the individuals/pairs events they normally hold plus practice days. But the BSPL could get petty and stop license holders from riding (done multiple times before). Alternatively the short track fraternity might be getting very excited right now.
  8. That might explain it looks good when out front but doesn't mix it as well in a pack / tight first corner.
  9. Dont feel sad for IOW i suspect they could emerge from this stronger and more free of the BSPL shackles.
  10. This is where we have some level of agreement. No riders should have 3 spots and there should be caps on top averages allowed at both NL and CL level. Its clear there will be more opportunities for riders emerging now, great for those heading in and a couple of slow burners will ultimately benefit. Its a brutal sport and there are plenty of good riders who dont get chances and lesser ones who get repeat chances.
  11. I dont claim the M/SDL are the saviours of speedway in fact in recent years some of the riders on display have done the league more harm than good. Its easy to argue the merits and clauses of the MSDL and the NJL and clear we will never agree which is a better product. What i do echo is that all track time is hugely important, all tracks that host it deserve success and the volunteers are incredible.
  12. With respect you are in full support as the path suits your own family agenda. If things change in a year or so would you remain so supportive? There is no doubt that IF the rising star system remains then clubs will need to show a bigger interest in developing quality riders than they have in recent years be that on thier own or forming club alliances. But if the standard isnt maintained the gap between the leagues will only grow.
  13. Hopefully Mildenhall can run some challenges/ individuals to fill out the fixture list and generate income. I wonder if thier fees have been reduced to accommodate ? I genuinely believe the BSPL cares not for the lower leagues and has proven once again that they view them as 2nd best. With NDL gone fans would be forced to follow a higher level or walk away.
  14. Excellent intelligent Promotion removed check, ghost teams closed down check. NL and MDL on its knees check. Lower leagues almost ruined so fans forced to view higher league speedway....mission accomplished
  15. Been wrong before and will be again. One thing for certain is that i have never been so disillusioned with the sport as i am right now.
  16. I feel for Berwick as they have joined the league at a dubious time and possibly a touch blinkered but we shall see. Locality should be behind abilty but we will see. Thats werevwe differ as semi pro motorsports go speedway is expensive
  17. 125 races are generally entertaining but 3 heats of the same riders often brings the same result. If you want locality to be a factor might as well split to north and south divisions. Anyone who thinks the sport isnt expensive and doesn't involve brutal travel isnt well enough prepared.
  18. With the greatest of respect to the other's mentioned i rate keiran Douglas much higher and would be criminal if he didnt get offered a place
  19. Lives on IOW but stranger things have happened in speedway
  20. Whilst i dont personally enjoy the NJL format i do respect the hard work put into it and its great to see it flourish and generate some riders at the end of it. I just dont see strong heat leaders and complete league newbies serving up mixed racing. They might as well change the format so they are kept separate. Time will tell who makes it and who doesn't but i think a lot of rider's are picking up places due to location and necessity rather than ability.
  21. I will attend the well balanced meetings just like i have past few seasons but take no joy watching poorly matched sides and riders at any level. Im not against the points limit reduction but there should have been a cap on the top averages to help build more strength in depth sides. New 3 pointers vs clegg and flint will offer little in viewing. It will just be about which of the newbies improves. Im again all for offering chances to riders and getting rid of dead wood but only riders who are good enough and not just for the sake ofi t as they are young and have a bike.
  22. Now that the BSPL have ruined the National League and existing MSDL. What has happened to the plans for the savior bringing Premiership Junior League? After all ghost teams were forced out and the great fanfare announcement there has been nothing since. Surely the BSPL haven't gone back on thier word?
  23. The published ones being a cut in team building limit , no play offs and no cup comps. As a stand alone club facing potentially 6 home fixtures with a diluted product due to how teams are being built looks a harder sell. Throw in the removal of ghost teams its equally unlikely any MSDL will take place either . I can only appauld IOW for being the only ones brave enough to do the right thing.
  24. I think his license is still locking in Laurence Rodgers glovebox Seriously though Bickley, Flint, Verge and 4 x 3.00ers. Team building this way is going to leave a rubbish product and only encourage spectators to watch at a higher level... oh wait thats what the bspl want.
  25. Congrats to IOW for sticking 2 fingers up to th BSPL bullies. Pushed arguably the best and most visionary promotion team out of the sport. I have no doubt that the Island team will bounce back better whilst the rest of the leagues continue to crumble.
