  1. Pedantic? The point about Bewley was and is a valid point. You say that I have to accept your point of view - I don't. Some things are inevitable and must happen - night follows day, the sky is usually above us the ground below us. But doubling up/down is not in that category.
  2. More to it than that. Do you think it suited Glasgow to be dictated to by being deprived of Bewley when either the rider himself or his top tier parent club decided they would rather he didn't ride for Glasgow yet he could ride for BV just the night before. That scenario wouldn't be the case if it weren't for doubling up/down. This factor wouldn't necessarily be eradicated by riding different nights as the case in point with Bewley. This as well as injuries and not being allowed to sign replacements created far too many instances of R/R and Guests this season and it just seems a complete shambles with many becoming fed up with the sport and reducing their attendance. When there were 10 or 12 teams in the top tier and 19 or 20 in the second there was no doubling up/down and there were enough riders to go round. Time they relaxed the work permit rules for Aussies and also brought on far more young home grown riders into the sport and really developed it from the ground up.
  3. Agree with that. I disagree. It was put there, it can be removed. You say "none of us like it" - which means a significant number of people will reduce their attendance and it won't pay so it won't be sustainable and it won't survive.
  4. Don't agree with that at all. It was put there, it can be removed. Not enough riders - false. I don't have enough money for a Lamborghini but I've just about enough for a secondhand Mondeo. We will just have to cut our cloth to suit and if it means 6 man teams or 5 man teams then so be it. I want to see riders riding for one team, the shambles that has been the 2017 season has had much to do with doubling up/down combined with injuries and not being allowed to sign replacements so fixtures full of R/R and Guests. Trying to explain this to non-speedway friends and colleagues and they shake their head in astonishment at how badly run it all seems. From my point of view there's no point in continuing with doubling up/down cos I won't attend such a shambles, its the main reason why I've lost interest and reduced attendance.
  5. You say that but did they!!..... We've seen how different spectators at the same event witnessing the same Nicholls/Greaves incident saw the facts totally differently..... Think you'll find if you apply "Duckworth-Lewis" or conversely if you apply "Stableford" you will probably get a different result.
  6. By the looks of it he was paying far too much attention!!
  7. Well that does explain a lot!! Time both of them were weeded out!!
  8. Agree with most of your points, including the one quoted above. Only minor grumble I have is your wording of "Re" training would suggest that Mr Dishington has either previously received training or that on said initial training he attained a competent standard in the first place, either of which premise I greatly doubt.
  9. Has only crept into speedway in the last few years?? You're kidding me!! Its been going on for at least 30 years. I do agree that it should be outlawed and I agree with your proposed penalties.
  10. Murrayfield? No, you're right, think probably better with the national stadium in Manchester!
  11. Tbh the venue just aint there as far as capacity is concerned in the case of Ashfield in the West, and from all aspects in the East in the case of "the dump!".
  12. You forget that England is only one of four countries that make up the UK. So why not give Wales one, Scotland one, etc. Agree about the national stadium and should be used for big events. As far as the GP's are concerned can't see any need for other than the current Cardiff arrangement within the UK. As you'll be aware, there's political/financial clout reasons why certain other countries have more than one grand prix. Assume accidental that you "liked" your own post!
  13. I've a cracking team shortlist, only trouble is it would probably need an 80 point limit
  14. There are a lot of bums in speedway, I should know I'm one of them
  15. Seems elevation or lack of it is an issue. Maybe they need to relocate the ref's box to a newly built crow's nest type arrangement?
  16. Good to see the two best teams this season in the final and the result in line with the league positions (sorry Ippo, if it had been the other way round I'd have said the same, I've just never been in favour of the playoffs system). Congrats to Sheffield, well deserved. And commiserations to the Witches, well deserved runners up.
  17. As somebody that doesn't believe in the playoffs system, I personally feel that the team that finishes top of the league are the champions, so as far as I'm concerned Sheffield won it fair and square and the Witches deserved runners up. That said, if there has to be a play-off then the two best teams in the league are in it and it would be no mean feat either if Ipswich pulled it off. So best of luck to everybody, hope its a cracking meeting worthy of the occasion and no injuries.
  18. Just confused tbh, two intelligent beings and all. Although hold on much of my crap is probably less coherent.
  19. Better than that it was a joke by the original poster who actually said.... "Anyway after the first leg we could have brought Greg Hancock in and it still wouldn't have made any difference." Substitute any others as takes your fancy: "Anyway after the first leg we could have brought Cristiano Ronaldo in and it still wouldn't have made any difference." "Anyway after the first leg we could have brought Santa Claus in and it still wouldn't have made any difference." "Anyway after the first leg we could have brought Spider Man in and it still wouldn't have made any difference." "Anyway after the first leg we could have brought Lewis Hamilton in and it still wouldn't have made any difference." Sorry, appreciate that Lewis Hamilton is otherwise engaged at the minute so scrub the last one.
