  1. Gomolski and Newman are still working out their kinks. I've seen them nearly trip over each other before. Kacper was definitely in win-at-all-costs mode in that meeting. He's improving his own race pace, team riding can come later. Best pairing we have at Poole for team riding IMO is Janowski and North. Magic is the best we have at team riding. As much as I like Holder, he tends to just focus on his own race. At the risk of repeating myself ( I suspect this topic is a follow on from one we started in the EL section) Darcy is one of the best team riders I've ever seen. It's almost habit for him to look along the line as soon as he's made the start to see what he can do to help his teammate. Big rides win races, but solid team riding wins meetings.
  2. One of the best team riders I've ever seen is Darcy, something he didn't really get a lot of recognition for. Slowing down and blocking doesn't really have that 'wow' factor, but can really make all the difference to the result. Hearing Hans refer to it as 'babysitting' made me hope we never sign him at Poole. Bomber is pretty good at looking out for his teammates. Shame you can't clone him. Garrity is a real talent no question. Trouble is he reminds me of Nicki Pedersen. Bags of natural talent, but seemingly little regard for the guys on the other 3 bikes. Although he's been pretty good lately so fingers crossed it's something he's growing out of. As much as I like Havvy and find him endlessly entertaining, I kind of wish Sarjeant had a different manager. If he could dial back the jump starts, he's a bloody good rider, but Havvy sticking solidly to the 'every ref has it out for him' line isn't helping anyone.
  3. The Doyle incident is actually something he's not bothered by. In the same breath as his anti-team tweets, he's chalking Doyle up to hard racing.
  4. The good news continues... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-34154147 His recovery is a real success story.
  5. Glad I have more faith in my club than you do in yours. If Coventry get a good replacement for Kylmakorpi, (and I've heard a rumour of Pawlicki) you're a very credible threat. Let's not forget it wasn't that long ago you were top of the table. Swindon are definitely in with a shot of winning, and I certainly don't hear the same defeatist attitude from their fans. Hell, maybe Bjerre will remember he's a good rider and start bringing his A-game. (stranger things have happened)
  6. Even putting aside what Chris has gone through the last few weeks, I get it. He's still finding confidence after having a potentially career-ending crash. He's usually amazing at home and lately the GPs also, but for some reason he's still inconsistent away. He's had some great away scores, but also some single-digit ones. As said above though, whatever his result at the moment, he gets a free pass as far as I'm concerned. I still find it hard to believe that a guy who's going through what he's going through could ride the way I watched him ride on Wednesday. Mmmm taste that bitterness!
  7. To be fair, they fought harder than the scoreline suggests we just rode like we had something to prove last night.
  8. The score didn't reflect how good the racing was tonight. Most of the points weren't scored at the gate. Kacper was as good as I've ever seen him. Some of the most exciting first bends of Speedway I've seen this year! Holder firmly had the bit between his teeth tonight too. I still don't know how he manages to focus at the moment, but his speed tonight was incredible. Obviously anything can happen in the playoffs, but I'm really proud of our 1 - 7 tonight.
  9. Obviously the Speedway community's mind is on more important things than this meeting, particularly at Poole. But I have just arrived at the stadium and it really is a beautiful day for Speedway. Whatever the result I'm hoping for a good safe meeting with quality racing. And full Darcy fund buckets.
  10. According to Leicester's Twitter account they're expecting weather to dry up from 12pm and it's going ahead. After watching the GP, as well as Holder understandably focused on other things, I'm not convinced Magic is riding fit. He scored a lot lower than expected, and when the cameras showed him after winning a heat, he was holding an icepack on his neck and grimacing. (until he noticed the camera and hid it)
  11. I'm hoping Darcy knows you guys won tonight and it put a smile on his face. At this rate it could very well be a Poole Vs Swindon final, and I'd be perfectly ok with that.
  12. I believe Piratecast are having problems getting permission to do a T-Shirt. Maybe as the official fund is using the logo (Which I know was made by Lee) they maybe working together to make an official shirt?
  13. As a Darcy fan, I have no issue with this at all. I know he isn't universally liked. There are riders I dislike, but I would never wish what Darcy's going through on them, or anyone else, and I'd certainly send my best wishes to them if it did.
  14. Havent gone through all 8 pages, so apologies if this has been covered before. But for me, it's not for us to say what's acceptable. The riders know what the risks are and they have all decided to accept them. The Isle of Man TT usually has at least one fatality a year, the event carries on because there are enough people who can weigh those risks in their mind against the thrill of doing something very few people can do and something that they love doing. Speedway is the same. It's more dangerous than F1 by nature, there is no external protection beyond a helmet and kevlars, the tracks are tight and slippy by design. Every rider that swings their leg over a Speedway bike knows this, and does it anyway. But this is also (I believe) why we as fans care about our riders. Like we have recently for Lewis Kerr and I'm sure we will for Darcy. We appreciate the risks they take and that because they do it, we can continue to enjoy a sport we all love, even when we don't.
  15. Not sure how this one's gonna go to be honest. I'd usually expect us to beat the Lions, but with half the team (understandably) concerned with other things, and I still haven't heard how Maciej is. I know he rode on Sunday but he only scored 6 points so I can only assume he was still hurting. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
  16. In some ways I was hoping for our first meeting back to be against Swindon. Maybe I'm just being a soppy old git, but Darcy has a special connection to both our clubs and it would've been nice to have our supporters come together.
  17. So many rumours going around at the moment. Not going to accept anything until I hear a direct source, and not one that's been translated on the Internet. Due to the crash being put on so many auto-play videos on social media, I couldn't avoid seeing it. Looked horrible.
  18. I know I've had nothing to do with what's happened to Darcy, but can't help feeling bad that I've just jinxed one of my favourite riders! Hope it's nothing too serious, but back and neck pain is no joke... EDIT: According to Jack Holder on Twitter he has a broken shoulder and wrist! Get well soon Darcy!
  19. I thought he finished 3rd? Or was he supposed to be doing heat 15 as well? I only have Twitter updates to rely on.
  20. Magic has the highest average in the league. Averages aren't the problem. Availability of reserves is. Everyone except Lakeside and Coventry are riding tomorrow.
  21. Matt Ford said don't be surprised if he rides for Wroclaw but still misses out on Monday. He reckons the Polish teams push their riders more and this is a 'must-win' fixture for Wroclaw. (Funnily I was speaking to a Wroclaw fan who said the opposite, both teams are already in the playoffs so the match tomorrow isn't that crucial) If Magic's ok, I'm all for them running it tomorrow. There's a big difference between 'running scared' and respecting your opponent. With both teams at full-strength It'll be a good one. I somehow doubt the Robins fans would be so confident if Ward were the one injured.
  22. I'm hoping it's rained off. AJ is no substitute for Magic and I'm not sure the Bees would allow Bomber. Swindon are on a big high. Aside from Darcy, Summers is a great signing and Batch has come on form of late. We spanked the Robins last time they were here, but they're virtually a new team. A really good one.
  23. I thought Swindon looked good to win this one, but I didn't think the Stars were going to roll over that easily! (well, except Bjerre naturally) Doesn't sound much like the team that beat Coventry last night.
  24. You've clearly not been there on a Christina Turnbull night.
