Scunthorpe Scorpions 2016?
beaky11 replied to Paul Johnson's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Unfortunate that Andreas has had to do that was impressed with him on Friday and think he was unlucky with his score, can see a minimum of 2 changes being made now due to this, unfortunately Alex has looked off the pace and I can see him being replaced. To replace Lyager and Davies we would have 14.9 to play with, options we could go for are: Ty Proctor - 6.68 Lewis Kerr - 6.59 Or another assed rider, would love someone like Mikkel Anderson but can't see that happening! If we go with one of the 2 above leaves us with between 8.22 and 8.31 to replace the other rider although I haven't a clue who's available for them figures and would come tbh, I wonder if it would be possible to talk Porsing into coming back to the premier league on a 6.58 and looks a class rider in this league! -
Yes after looking at this he has not had an operation on it hence why he is not having to go through the same stages, it seems to me that he is trying to rebuild the leg muscles and strengthen them without the operation as this is possible but not as good of a fix.

Regarding a rupture to the ACL I am currently in my 7 week post op of an ACL replacement and I have just been able to fully complete a turn on a gym bycicle, I would be very surprised if he is already practicing as it takes tremendous effort to do things such as re-train your leg to move correctly when walking etc

I'm sorry to disagree with you Neb but I'm from Scunthorpe and watched the racing there for years until I moved to Berwick 2 years ago, I have to agree the racing at scunny is in a different league as its a racers track and you can overtake, how I wish Berwick had a track like that as watching 4 people follow each other but not able to pass as not enough lines does get tedious at times. The part I disagree on is the fans, they are unbelievable, the atmosphere they generate and how welcoming they are is amazing, I've never known a track where everybody goes back to the pub after to discuss the meeting for hours and their knowledge of speedway is amazing you can have great conversation about it. So racing may be a lot poorer but the fans are top draw and it's why I love watching my speedway in Berwick, if it wasn't for the fans here I don't think I'd be as bothered tbh

Be interesting to see the changes Rob & Dave decide to make, realistically I don't think scunny could afford to bring in Compton or Procter but id rather see our asset base build and sign Lyager, he looks a great prospect. So if Lyager comes in for Morris then my guess is the other rider leaving will be Holub, think he has potential but we can't afford to wait for it so that leaves us 6.75 to replace him with, we could bring back MPT but we would still have a point to play with, I am honestly unsure what we are going to do with this one and fancy Rob and Dave to pull something out of left field and sign someone we don't expect, can't wait to see who! -

So with Holub now having his new average as 3 we now have 10.75 points to play with to replace Ash Morris, as much as I'd like to see Lyager come in shouldn't we be looking to see if we can bring in another big hitter to compliment Douglas and Auty ? -

Scunny have been riding with Zdenek at 5 for R/R but with him being back for this meeting I believe we will go with him at 4, Davies at 3 and Dougles at 5. I can see this being a very close meeting but I think scunny will edge it but will be within 7. Really looking forward to my first meeting of the year! -

Ah damn forgot about Bellego signing for Redcar, i'd heard Klidnt might becoming available as well but he blows hot and cold, Birks i would definitely not have back at the EWR. I'd have Blackbird back got a lot of potential if he can stay injury free, Lyager would be good but he is on a 7 assessed so its too high. What would Rob Mear come in on ? and is there any riders in the same situation as Poole who didn't ride UK last year who could come in ? What about Kozza Smith ?! -

Gutted to see Taylor Poole go, was looking forward to seeing him around the EWR! Not many out there on the average we are looking for but a few riders i wouldn't mind seeing are: Anton Rosen - 5.14 well below the average but looks a good rider David Bellego - 5.98 Just depends on his commitments to Poland on Sundays Lewis Blackbird - 6.16 if he decides to return to speedway Long shot but Nicolai Klindt if he left or we got him away from Rye but don't think this one will happen -
Did Berwick miss a trick this year not bringing Jake Allen in on a 5 point average instead of Weathers on a 4.96 ? Would have started out at reserve and has got the potential to put a lot on that average i think! Maybe after what happened last year he wouldn't come back or they thought he was still on a 7 point average who knows but will be good to see him in the PL
-
The point you are missing with this is simple. Yes in 2012 he may have had a 3.58 average but in 2014 his rolling average was 3.00 when the season finished at Scunthorpe. The rules as far as i understand it are to be eligable for number 7 you have to be: British Eligable for NL have a current PL average of 3.00 or not rode PL before Perry meets all this criteria but Max Clegg (3.48) and Rob Branford (3.40) Don't meet the criteria simple as this i think!

I think your right there! Scunny's team gonna look something like 1.Auty 2.Poole 3.Holub 4.Davies 5.Douglas 6.Wilkinson 7.3pt rider I think the only question mark left is the number 7 and people seem confident it will be Danny Ayres so have to wait and see. -

With people saying the rider is a surprise, what about Rob Mear ?! Obviously back for Lakeside in the EL and I think his previous EL average was 4.44 so not sure what that converts to in PL but think he may be a good signing! -
Wasn't there confusion last year when everybody thought Doolan was getting announced as an asset because they said something about KD is getting announced and it turned out it was Keiran Douglas had signed as an asset not Doolan ? This might be what they have mistaken on the Ipswich thread

This can't be right as Sheffield have signed Nathan Greaves as their number 7 and he rode for Workington last year. Also if that is the case think of how many possible riders couldn't ride the draft: Matt Williamson Ellis Perks Liam Carr Tom Perry Olly Greenwood Dan Greenwood Ben Morley Benji Compton Etc Going back to the team, I would have Ellis Perks back at number 7 has rode premier league before and looked really good in the U-19's also i would consider Benji on a 3pt average think he would go well as he knows the EWR As for the number 2 it is a tricky one. Not many around on that average to fit that don't ride sundays in Poland or longtrack like Pepe. Maybe look at one of the drop downs from the EL. Looks like Porsing's average may not be too far off although i am not sure on this -

Can't see the next signing being Bellego not with his Polish commitments on Sunday's was always a big struggle for him riding Saturday's at Berwick. Would like to see something like this 1. Josh Auty - 8.00 2.MPT -5.96 3.Zdenek Holub - 7.00 4.Alex Davies - 6.26 5.Ryan Douglas 6.68 6.Carl Wilkinson - 5.33 7.James Shane's - 3.00 Would also quite happily see Ellis Perks given another shot at the reserve berth looked good in the British under 19's and if we had a bit more room in the averages be nice to see someone like Richie Worrall or Skidmore in the team. Good well be Leigh Lanham at 2 in place of MPT in that tea as well will be interesting! -
How about something like this ? Jorgensen 7.8 Pjiper 6.53 Barker 7.56 / Alden Doolan 6.95 Vissing 7.54 Garcia 3.00 Wajknecht 3.00 42.38 Depends what Aldens on but that total is with Barker. I believe Coty will put on 2 points with his own bikes over here and I think Wajknecht will be one of the best NL 3 pointers!!! What's people's thoughts ??

The part that I don't understand in this is the loan agreement, I was led to believe as was the case with scunny at the start of the year when we loaned Howie from Wolves that he effectively became your asset for the season, the is was also said by rob on the website. So when Glasgow came in for Howie they had to speak to rob to get the number and permission, I don't understand the differences between what has happened with Howie and Barker ?

Me having lived in Scunthorpe all my life until recently moving to Berwick it obvious the differences. 1st difference is that there aren't as many hardcore fans in scunny as there are in Berwick so you don't get the people wishing to shell out for it. Secondly the track isn't situated in the town so it's harder to access which means you don't get everybody going back to the pub afterwards to talk and enjoy the meeting. I honestly believe it has some of the best racing in the country and any that I have witnessed can recall countless classics at the EWR, if only it had the fan base and facilities with the B&G like shielfield would make it top class
