Ben Morley has too high of an average to come in to replace Josh, with the new averages we have could potentially get Liam Carr in on a 3 point average, probably best available and been getting some good scores in the NL
-
Cracking win for the scorpions, think the change with Nielsen at reserve will make us a lot stronger especially with MPT at number 1 now. Only other change potentially is someone for Wilko if there's someone out there who fits. Also expect to see at least two more changes for Berwick now they have 4H & 4A completed to get proper averages

Stefan has been signed by Scunny as a full time replacement for Wallner so is with Scunny for the rest of the season.

Seems Scunny have had the same idea and announced Stefan Nielsen as the replacement for Fritz Wallner tonight -

Wow cracking choice of guest for Scunny with Mark Riss he was excellent for Edinburgh at sheilfield two weeks ago and will be a great replacement for Fritz, hoping young Josh gets going and gets a few points on the board, think Scunny will win but think it will be within 7 points! -
Berwick 2017 50th Year

I worked it out to be 10.76 left. Will be interesting to see which way Berwick go, 2 5+ pointers to keep Liam at reserve or so you resign Perry and then have 7 points for your final rider ? Also if you do sign Perry are him and Liam still eligible for British rider reductions if so that's definitely the way I'd go and have a very strong top 4! -
Berwick 2017 50th Year
beaky11 replied to balderdash&piffle's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It would work as you can use Tom Perry as the 3 point reserve, as previously posted last years number 7's can take a place at number 7 this year as long as they are still on a 3 point average, hence why Matt Williamson is the 7 for Workington as his average is still under 4 -
I wonder if your management are in discussion with MPT, bit of a track specialist around Rye House and only on a 6.98 think he maybe a very good rider for you!
-
I am honestly not sure, the rules don't seem very clear, on one hand it says newcomers to the championship are on a 3 but others say 2 and the BSPA Twitter said lowest foreigner average is 4 /9 I am confused on this
-
what about something like this ? 1. Ryan Douglas - 7.18 2. Lewi Kerr - 5.98 3. Josh Auty - 7.01 4. Nickojaj Busk Jakobsen - 6.50 5. Rory Schlein - 7.16 6. Fritz Wallner - 4.00 7. James Shanes / Jack Smith / Josh Bailey - 2.00 / 2.00 / 2.05 Would be quiet happy to see MPT back on his just under 7 point average but I think this would be a very strong team and I think Schlein could potentially be a strong number 1 in this league Also a few rumours that TJ is going to Rye so would rule him out of being at Berwick would love him back at Scunny and I think he could potentially be an out and out number 1 round scunny! so you could have... 1. Thomas Jorgensen -7.45 2. Lewis Kerr - 5.98 3. Josh Auty - 7.01 4. Kyle Newman - 6.31 or Carl Wilkinson - 6.12 5. Ryan Douglas - 7.18 6. Fritz Wallner 7. 2.00 reserve
-
Yes but read the tweet linked to it which is this.... UPDATE | Where a rider has raced and averaged between 2-3 he will start next season on that true average ie Josh Bailey. So no it's not pretty clear tbh
-
It doesn't actually say this though, it says riders who have not achieved a 3pt average i.e Josh Bailey. I believe from this all new NL riders to the Championship will be on a 3 It reads when a rider has raced and averaged between 2 & 3 then they will start on this
-
Can you please show me where it says this ?
-
I disagree on this, my understand of that is that they haven't achieved a 3 as they haven't had a try at achieving a 3 point average so will come in on a 3, it's only people who have ridden enough meetings to get an official average that can be below 2 I believe. Also BSPA confirmed this on there twitter feed, see below: https://twitter.com/speedwaygb/status/794198277994541057

Berwick 2017 50th Year

Nice team but I think you'll need to check the latest greensheets Doolan - 6.99 TJ - 7.45 Carr - 4.81 Branford - 4.60 Bellego - 7.63 Garitty 8.55 And Smith will come in on a 3 -
I understand what your saying about Josh but in the meetings Jack Smith came in at the end he scored better than Josh had hence why it's a tough decision. I do honestly think it will be Jack Smith at number 7 at reserve for the coming season
-
Exactly hence why I put that, it is an interesting one because you have to weigh up the benefits, would it be better having Josh back and the extra .95 to play with or would Jack Smith be worth the extra point. On last years display I think I would definitely go with Jack and find the reserve on that average, potentially Ashley Morris, Rob Branford or Tom Perry
-
Great to see flying Ryan back with the Scorpions for 2017. Will be interesting to see how the teams take shape now with the new 40 points limit. Would love to see Fritz, MPT and Lewi back in the Scorpions and I'm pretty sure Josh was announced last year correct me if I'm wrong ? Team could be something like this: 1 Ryan Douglas - 7.18 2. Lewi Kerr - 6.16 3. MPT - 7.01 4. Fritz Wallner - 5.00 5. Josh Auty - 7.10 6. 7. Total = 32.35 So would leave us 7.65 for the last 2 riders including your British Number 7 Would like to see Jack Smith at 7 which would leave us 4.65 for the last reserve but no idea who that would be yet. Will be an interesting 2017!

As people have mentioned it's the costs that's the problem. I seem to remember Tai when he was being interviewed said it would cost him in excess of 300k to complete the 2014 season with traveling to Poland, Sweden and Britain as well as the GP's taking into account bike costs, flights, travel, accommodation and mechanics and that was even before he took into account his living costs. You can see why speedway riders need sponsorship to compete
-
Due to Liam obtaining a new average of 4.11 Berwick only have 12.4 to replace both Hummel and Seb Alden with now so if you replace Hummel with Morris then you only have 7.87 for the number 1

Scunthorpe Scorpions 2016?
beaky11 replied to Paul Johnson's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The team itself are not allowed to drop an assessed rider until they have completed 4H and 4A meetings, but the rider has the choice to quit the team. In this unfortunate circumstance Andreas chose to step down due to his apprenticeship. I don't think scunny would have chosen to drop him, think he has massive potential. -
Could it possibly be down to the standard of the riders, yes in the premier league we have very good riders but in that U-21 meeting you had 3 future world under 21champions, 2 now full time GP riders and one in Dudek who probably would be if it wasn't for his ban ? Maybe due to the standard of them they were able to make more lines from the track and make a couple of extra lines work going into the corners, just a thought here
-
I may be wrong on this but isn't it the FIM who would have prepared the track for the U-21's ? Yes it was probably the same people actually doing it but being instructed what to do by somebody other than the usual track curator ? Maybe they need to look at it that way and look at what was being done different that night to create that standard of racing ?
