  1. Incredible atmosphere, slow first half due to over zealous Morris / Sarj (though was there a tape problem again - seemed from the 1st bend to be very slack). Over zealous referee. Second half really took off, after Summers horror crash - was delighted to see him back on his feet. Good racing, huge crowd, great atmosphere in the end. Bomber Harris is quite a wee guy, got him to sign my program - not fat at all. Fireworks, disco lights, dancing, singing, carry on. Great people. Enough? No I wouldn't have thought so - hopefully a good guest (Worral appears to be favourite - Stevie). Cooks fall (not injured thankfully) really seemed to make the difference and I was astonished that we came away 7 up. I can't make it tomorrow, but all the best to all speedway fans at the meeting and hopefully no injuries. TBH I'd love to see Edinburgh getting bought by a proper business man and getting out of Armadale. We can and should have two of the biggest speedway teams in Britain, as we certainly have the best derby. Glasgow looking for friday nights is now OFFICIAL.
  2. Going to be a lovely night, but bring your long johns. Really, really looking forward to this weekend as a season closer.
  3. BOMBER HARRIS COMING TO GLASGOW... just a shame there's no Tigers Kevlars for him. He'll get a shock when he sees what we are putting on up here.
  4. Starting to get excited..... and I just read on the BBC Website that the CHEAPEST match day ticket to watch Jose Morinho have a nervous breakdown is £52. For that you get two matches featuring the most exciting clubs in Premier Speedway and still have enough for a pie and a pint. Lets hope the crowds really turn out for this and fill both teams coffers full. And it gets some new faces seeing what an entertaining sport speedway is. And Edinburgh get pumped.
  5. Ha ha. I understand he playoffs argument, but at the end of the day it has pluses and minuses. From a Glasgow perspective it's been a thrill of a season and this is the cherry on the cake. My head says we won't do it, but I couldn't see us taking Somerset - so you never know. One thing is for sure, I remember some grim days for Tigers (Blantyre etc) in the past, so when the nostalgia factory starts - can I just say our home cup final against Edinburgh was the greatest atmosphere I've experienced in 30 odd years (although not a regular attender for many of those). And to be able to have a derby with your biggest rivals that's not a hate filled cauldron of bigotry and rage is great. I just wish SKY were here to see the mayhem!
  6. Come on Sarjeant. Do exactly what you did on Sunday - wake up the referee and tell him the race has actually started. Palovarra didn't do so badly at that Olympique night and there is a good rider in there. Cook, lets be honest, has got better and better this season - to the extent that his performance at Poole for Belle Vue was absolutely spectacular - a joy to watch. I have him and Sedgeman down for a big haul, so it's down to Lawson and Summers for us. I love Kauko, terrible season for him and wish him well, but R/R is by far the option for us here as he's hardly had a ride this year. What a season for Scottish Speedway. Incredible. So looking forward to Friday, but no doubt the nerves will kick in.
  7. And provided. All the moaning about Sarjeant should be water off a ducks back. He proved everything yesterday by not letting it get to him. And if the refs are paying special attention to him they should be instructed that their role is to enforce the rules against every rider in the heat. No-one is going to moan if anyone is lawfully excluded.
  8. Ticket prices tigers £17. TBH I'm fortunate enough can afford it, and we are getting our moneys worth this season. But hopefully this isn't putting anyone off. One things for sure, regardless of the speedway, Ashfield will put on a good show.
  9. Track seemed to cause Somerset most of the problems going into the first bend, which helped us, although Neiminen and Lawson both fell victim at different points. Andersen seemed to really struggle at times. Sarjeant, Summers, Lawson won it for us. Grajconec and Starke not firing on all cylinders, Danny Ayres just a bit out of his depth at this point in time. Somerset are a class side and I didn't picture us going through. YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
  10. It was an incredible meeting. Had everything.... it was just electric pretty much start to finish. To end up even after 29 heats was nail biting stuff. Sarjent a hero. Good few up from Somerset and thanks to all the Monarchs who came along. I saw people from all over at the meeting, Workington, berwick etc etc. * Edin are charging 20 for tickets on the night but standard prices if purchased in advance. Glasgow not announced yet.
  11. I can feel a lot of excitement in the air. Might be our biggest home crowd since monarchs in the cup. Still think it's a very difficult tie, but HERE WE GO!
  12. As said, tie is open going into Sunday - I'd have taken the score before the meeting. Only seen updates - what was up with Kauko? He had quite a nasty fall last Sunday.... looked again like collarbone region so maybe he's not 100%
  13. My pre meeting nerves are at it already. I can't take a repeat of the cup final, checking myphone and watching the 5-1's coming in.
  14. First went to Berwick bandits, must have been about 35 years ago (and I'm not old) on holiday on the coast. I'lll definately get down in 2016 as often as I can.
  15. Yes Baba that's how I feel. I hope we can carry a very close result to Ashfield and make it an event. A couple of gates from Sarjeant required, who cares if he gets any waarnings. And Victor on form. If everyone rides like they can, we are in with a shout but it looks tough.
  16. I think he would come to Poole for a year. Why not. It would be good money and he won't be in the GP Series other than as a guest next year. I don't know what they get paid in Poland, but admission and merch is so much cheaper than here - then it can't be vastly more than Poole would pay. This year he's been riding for Falubaz (a hero over there) and a couple of other Euro teams. Patryk DuuuuuuuuuuuDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK
  17. Of course Somerset will get the best they can - I haven't worked out the averages though, but I'd be surprised if he scored less than 8 on the day.
  18. A very tough one for us, Somerset look so strong when you see the team they have. However, we have Summers riding phenomenally at the mo. Lawson hopefully back on form, Morris looking good, Neiminen fit and everyone else in the points so we have a chance. But they must be favourites. I just don't want a drubbing down there to make the Sunday a face saving excercise. Under ten points I'd be delighted - but certainly wouldn't be shocked if it was worse. Weather looks good so please please please lets not mess it up down there.
  19. But it's not to do with the boozing - it's for rider availability. I prefer the Sunday, but we may need to change to accomodate foreign league times. I don't see Friday being an issue in terms of Possil at all. If you have venture around the vicinity it's a nice enough bit - plus it's during the summer, so it's light. It is a predominantly working class area and there is a lovely bowling club just across the road where I'm sure people play all through the summer in the evenings. There are buses / trains / car parking right outside. If it doesn't happen, fair enough but I'd like to get the opportunity to use riders who are in the Ekstralige for exmple. Anyway, probably won't happen.
  20. Definately - not knocking the run itself, but Glasgow was at a halt. A twenty five minute journey to Ashfield took 2 hours.
  21. Ideally we would buy the Ashfield bar and turn it into part of the club, I don't think it's the most salubrious of places to be next to the field of dreams - fair enough something like that at the back of Armadale wouldn't look out of place, and might be popular with our east coast friends, but it's not in keeping with the new surroundings.
  22. I enjoy a trip through to Armadale on Occasion. So I'd miss being able to do that, and I really want a succesfull Glasgow AND Edinburgh club (as long as we beat them) but tbh Fri suits me. That's it decided then, I'll stick a request in. Half seven start, pies and pastries from half six. No dogs, goggles must be worn.
  23. Lets get to 100 pages - then roll over into next season #gogglegate
