I'm sure Glasgow atm are offering good cash, but I also believe the environment must appeal - wouldn't have thought the Facenna's would be deliberately throwing money away. Glasgow havebeen poor relations for years so for me it's just great to see things going better, and also facilities put in place and fans of the future being brought along. Must agree about the Glasgow Edinburgh rivalry. There's a couple of idiots but by and large it's good natured, and for both clubs it's fantastic. I bet loads of clubs would kill for a derby like tat.

Meeting 27/03/2016 rained off. FFS.

Josh for the Monarchs? Somebody contact Monarchs fans trust and ask them to arrange a new Direct Debit. Party on!
-
He was a tryer (particularly in the final ) and a throughlly likeable character. So good luck to him if not.
-
We now have three riders in Place - I'd be interested to see what people think about the other 4. I'm assuming Lawson will be the only other name from last year - although Hynek has never been mentioned by anybody at all. Particularly if Worrall (as seems to be assumed by people on here) signs how does the bottom end pan out.
-
And this is what I meant. It is why there are 3 riders above him, and he is a number 1. Again, I want him back but I don't see the point in denying he had a few bad meetings (by his standards). If he consistently rode at his best next season he would be the best in the league in 2016. I'm not slagging the guy.

Peterborough Panthers 2016
damosuzuki replied to mudflaps's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
This rule will be lucky to last two seasons. A good idea but no doubt wide open to abuse once people realise exactly how it works (and I don't tbh). -
Good luck to Edinburgh and all that but they've got a cheek. If they were a football team they'd have been punished for signing players they couldn't afford.
-
Why would he drive? There are daily Easyjet flights from Bristol to Glasgow for considerably less than £100 return, and tigers have accommodation.
-
That's why I thught Sarj has gone. Lawson is an assett so we'd have to loan him out. Plus, although he has been inconsistent, if he had consistency he is one of the very best heat leaders in the PL. And I believe machinery may have played a part last season - plus Edinburgh's triangular track.
-
Barker has seemingly quietened down since his foul-mouthed-drunken--tirade days at Cardiff. If as suggested above we sign Worral and use Lawso, yes it's a strong top 4 but leaves an inevitably week bottom 3.
-
Who should put a stop to it? Matej kus has been impressive this season. And his average isn't too crazy like some of the names quoted recently.
-
Glasgow can only sign 5 riders MAX. so I don't think they'll be upsetting the whole premier.
-
I've been wrong about everything so far, so feck knows.

Glasgow next announcement midday Wed..........?

Top class Belle Vue this season I hope. Surely they made a fortune with the last few meeting at the old Stadium. 2016, beat Poole comprehensively in the Playoffs. Please.

I still think you would get more value out of Cook, though. He's 100% professional, tough, mature and extremely fit. At the end of the day you pay for points and Cook would be up on my list just behind the real elite riders. He is Mr consistency. Keegan vs Gazza. Even as a Glasgow fan he has been a joy to watch this season. The final of the international thing at Ashfield showed just how quality he is.

I went to football regularly for years and saw many, many occasions where thousands turned up to watch a total non event in terrible wind and rain swept conditions. In fact wasn't Man U Man City a joke the other week there? I agree that you need to get core product right and that's far from perfect in Speedway, but don't kid yourself in football. Thousands turn up week in week out to watch utter s**** football. Speedway isn't going to attract that tribal element (thankfully) but there is a big audience out there for minority sports and all the razzmatazz matters to them. Also if you, say, have young daughters. Are you going to take them along to a hovel with dirty toilet facilities, dangerous terracing, cold, miserable etc? The presentation is now a very important part of it. I can guarantee if a family comes along and the place is a dump, the food's crap and there's nothing to keep the kids busy - e ven if you have a great team on the track a lot of people won't come back. Hence why I think Harkess' comment this year (good work he's done fully appreciated) were absolute mince. Having said all that, I agree with everything you say about the tracks and thelength, inconsistency of preparation and racing lines.

Just one of those ones where average wise he was on shaky ground for 2016. Definately has a ton of potential and I hope he does well for whoever get him next season. He rides for a big Swedish side though, I thought he would cut out the UK maybe and go all continental. Apologies for hijacking the thread and if you've seen this but was looking for videos of Danny and found this video of one of the best heats of Speedway ever Kent vs Heathens https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cMxgC4UkjY

All sorted for next season. No doubt announced shortly.
-
Not really, as everyone is getting the same choices at #7. Still about 7.5 points for the other two if predictions re: the top 4 are correct. We rarely had a full side for the majority of season after Kozza and Nicks injuries,Kauko's misfortune and Victor's other commitments. Amazed we did as well as we did tbh.

Big fan of Sarjeant as well, he's really learning. The gating thing made me laugh. I seem to remember Cook was known for this at one time. The kid has lightening reactions, gives 100% and the crowd baying for his blood didn't bother him. As proved at home to Edinburgh in the PL final. Tbh I thought we'd keep him - but if we sign Barker and Worral it was mathematically impossible to keep all three of Lawson/Summers/Sarjeant. Good luck James.
-
All the best victor. Scored a good few points at the right time.

Forget it.
