Hi Gordon, yes there was a few dips and bumps on the track the first day. However, all the riders and families I spoke to said they enjoyed riding the track and was complimentary towards it, so must look worse than it was to ride etc. What I can say is that on Day 2 whilst the riders were having their off track training, Team Warrior worked tirelessly on the track all day, even battling a down poor of torrential rain half way through the day so that it would be top for the riders on day 3. Again, the comments on day 3 were that they liked it on Day 1, but it was even better on Day 3. So you can be the judge of that once the footage for day 3 is uploaded. Many thanks, Andy

Hi David, quite a lot of people, myself included come over from the mainland each meeting. The cheapest way I would say is to book the FastCat from Portsmouth. Book your ticket through the www.wightwarriors.co website and you get a discount on the ticket. You would have to pay for parking for the evening in Portsmouth, or find a free spot somewhere. You can book a FREE Taxi up to 24 hours before the meeting by contacting the club on speedwayontheisland@yahoo.co.uk which will pick you up from the ferry crossing point and take you to the stadium, and after the meeting the taxi will return you to the ferry point FREE of charge also. However, the most fun way is to drive over from Portsmouth, come up to the Premier Lounge after the meeting and talk to the promoters and riders etc, and then catch the 11pm ferry back with most of the riders and other fans. Makes it more of an event. Andy

Hi guys, this coming Saturday, over on the Island we are having a pre Valentines party named "For The Love Of Warriors Speedway" where there will be much fun and frolics going on I am sure. A part of this evening will be a question and answer section with promoters Barry Bishop & Martin Widman on the mic. Whilst there will be many questions taken from the floor I am sure, we wanted to open it up to the speedway community and invite you to post any questions you would like answered on here that we can present to them on the evening. This section of the evening will be filmed and placed on the Warriors Media Channel with all the answers to your questions. Many thanks, Andy

Relive the birth of the Warriors, and follow our journey in the Warrior Way from the start, through 2016 and beyond! The Wightlink Warriors with Speedwayportal.com have launched a new section on the Wightlink Warriors official media channel where fans can relive the whole of 2016 from the start. The Wightlink Warriors media channel already provide a wealth of information about the club such as sponsors, riders, My First Skid, Interviews, behind the scenes and Isle of Wight attractions and is designed to complement and interact with the Warriors Website. Andy Hague from Speedwayportal.com said "The team are constantly contemplating and implementing new ideas to bring the Warriors front and centre with their media channel and online presence. We strive to do all we can to use the most important platform, the world wide web, to bring the fans and sponsors as much footage as we are able to, and show the fans that are not able to attend the Warriors home meetings, the atmosphere and excitement that has been created on the Island with the Warrior Way.” Barry Bishop Commercial Director of the Wightlink Warriors added "We know that our media channel on Speedwayportal.com proved a massive hit with fans and sponsors alike in 2016. The Warriors have an ever increasing presence online, be that from our website, media channel, media partners or sponsors that put the Wightlink Warriors on their websites and we know that this will pay huge dividends helping us to continue to spread the Warrior Way across the Island, UK and globe. We want to interact with as many people as we can and explain and show them about speedway, the Wightlink Warriors, the Warrior Way and the Isle of Wight. Speedway is exciting, thrilling and family fun and all our show windows need to portray this and Speedwayportal.com is leading the way. We know that we have to use every tool we can for marketing and we are not shy about being creative and innovative and targeting a particular age group with a different type of medium. I am confident all our fans will love the opportunity to review 2016 and the start of something wonderful as we prepare for 2017". View the season here at www.speedwayportal.com/wight-warriors-home and choose our journey so far section or one of the other brilliant sections packed with the Warrior Way.

So with the turn of the year upon us, another season been and gone and with the 2017 in the near future, what are your thoughts regarding the Warriors going into the new season? With the launch of the new Warriors Website, 6 riders signed for the team, 3 of which are new to the club. Major track work currently being completed along with fence repairs etc. Great new and current sponsors aboard for 2017. What are your thoughts? Andy

Hi guys, as greg, pitstop and Islander15 have said, Bryn's passing has been acknowledged throughout the speedway world on nearly every platform, such is the impact Bryn had in the sport and as a person. As a club, the Warriors are currently in discussions for a fitting tribute to Bryn, as soon as there is more news on this I will post it up on here. For those that don't follow the Warriors on Facebook, below is a few words by Barry Bishop "I have been contemplating what to write about Bryn Williams all day, while working on the Smallbrook track with the rest of the track team. I have to say that Bryn has been on my mind all day while we removed the bend 4 camber, sorted the home straight and took down the back straight safety fence ready for replacement .... and then It dawned on me that while thinking what to write about Bryn I was really doing his bidding, what he would have wanted me to do and to continue to work to make Smallbrook the best it can be for the island and beyond. Bryn really was Mr. Speedway - he did it all. Even though he loved every level of speedway I believe his passion was always grass roots speedway. He was always at the Southern Track Meetings commentating and when I did the worlds First Ladies only speedway school there was no one other than Bryn who I wanted to send out reassuring and informed commentary over the tannoy system at Iwade on that amazing day. Behind the scenes here at Smallbrook he travelled each week with Chris and took on a variety of roles including press officer, programme contributor and track announcer. With his own personal style he brought considerable knowledge, comedy and enthusiasm to our show. Bryn was stubbornly passionate about speedway but he was a selfless warrior to the sport and he was indeed a knowledge bank and stato for each and every rider. He loved the Isle of Wight and was first in the queue at our fans forums when we decided to consider bringing speedway back and Bryn always offered advice and caution when he felt it necessary. I shall miss you Bryn, not only for your speedway knowledge, written word or presentation skills, but because you were one of the nicest and most decent people, not only in speedway but on the planet. A dedicated believer in positivity and not only what speedway is today but what it can be tomorrow. God's speed my friend. Until we meet again."

Hi guys, if you are there tomorrow do come over and say hi if you get chance. You won't be able to miss us, just myself and Tim tomorrow from team Portal, with microphones and cameras everywhere!!! Also, the meetings generally get finished around 9, 9:15pm, so if you have time before your taxi to the Fast Cat do come over after the match to the premier lounge. A lot of the riders etc come up and socialise before leaving for the 11pm Ferry, so makes a good round off to the evening. I will be in the pits from 4pm until tapes up, then filming from the balcony of the premier lounge on bend 2 followed by interviews in the Premier Lounge after the meeting. Hope to see you guys tomorrow. Andy -

Isle Of Wight Wightlink Warriors 2016
SpeedwayPortal replied to SpeedwayPortal's topic in National League Speedway
Hi guys, it's been an awesome couple of weeks over on the Island on race nights. Attendances are on the up each week, and it's great to see more and more travelling supporters not only from the away teams, but also others living far afield becoming regulars. The track is becoming more consistent and the racing has been superb especially the last 2 meetings. The last 2 matches were both won by the Warriors in a last heat decider. We even had some attendants arrive in their private Helicopter, landed in the next field to come and watch the meeting. Now that is what I call a Drone to watch heat 15 in!!! This week also saw a film company called Procamfilms come along, watch out people I predict some awesome footage coming soon from them! Don't forget all home meetings are covered by SpeedwayPortal.com, and are available to buy on DVD from either the track shop or on the Warriors Media channel. £7 each. Last night at Somerset the meeting was abandoned before the re-run of heat 4 due to rain, which means all the boys from both teams have bikes to clean today! If you do get a chance, do come over to the Island, there's an awesome buzz about the place and everyone is very approachable for a chat. Andy
