Hi guys, it's been an awesome couple of weeks over on the Island on race nights. Attendances are on the up each week, and it's great to see more and more travelling supporters not only from the away teams, but also others living far afield becoming regulars. The track is becoming more consistent and the racing has been superb especially the last 2 meetings. The last 2 matches were both won by the Warriors in a last heat decider. We even had some attendants arrive in their private Helicopter, landed in the next field to come and watch the meeting. Now that is what I call a Drone to watch heat 15 in!!! This week also saw a film company called Procamfilms come along, watch out people I predict some awesome footage coming soon from them! Don't forget all home meetings are covered by SpeedwayPortal.com, and are available to buy on DVD from either the track shop or on the Warriors Media channel. £7 each. Last night at Somerset the meeting was abandoned before the re-run of heat 4 due to rain, which means all the boys from both teams have bikes to clean today! If you do get a chance, do come over to the Island, there's an awesome buzz about the place and everyone is very approachable for a chat. Andy -

Hi guys, my apologies for not getting on the forum recently. However, I am back now and this coming week the media channel will be updated and tweaked along with working with the guys on the website. All of your comments are welcome and taken on board, and we will look into them when working on the website etc. It was a shame that the 4TT meeting was rained off, but the opening individual meeting was a great success and a good start to the season for the new promotion. The first team match last Thursday at home to Kent was a brilliant meeting, although the Warriors didn't get the result they were going for. There was some great races with multiple passing maneuvers in many heats, and the crowd was up from the previous week, although the forecast for that meeting wasn't good so I would suspect quite a few gave it a miss. The track did produce a lot of dust, well quite a bit actually, however with that exception the track held up well and was consistent throughout. Regarding the attendance figures, like teaboy279 I too am not a good judge of those numbers, and I guess if I estimated it I'm going to either be over or under, so I prefer to stay away from those figures. But I would say we were happy with the opening meeting crowd, and Thursdays meeting was a step in the right direction so all is buoyant and good. Many thanks Andy P.S, DVD's of the first individual meeting are now on sale. For £7, you get the full Vince Mapley Individual Meeting and 2 bonus features, 35 minutes of press and practice day and all the footage taken from the rained off 4TT meeting. All are shot on dual cameras by Speedway Portal, and include interviews, live commentary and much more. If anyone is interested message me on here and I can get them sent out to you. -

Countershaftcounter, I don't think it's an elephant in the room anymore as people have voiced their opinions on the logo both on this forum and other social media outlets. Opinions from all angles have been listened to and the decision has been made to go with this logo, so naturally it will feature on the clubs merchandise. Would be great though to get your feedback on last nights 4 announcements on pricing/press day/first match and 4TT? Many thanks Andy -

Warriors v Falcons v Wildcats v The Saints The second meeting of the season for the Warriors looks to be an absolute cracker with a 4TT between Isle of Wight, Exeter, Weymouth and Southampton on April 14th. The meeting will see all 8 Warriors joined by another 8 riders to make 4 teams of 4. Warriors will be split amongst the 4 teams, with riders representing teams closest to where they live or have previously been associated with. Commercial Director Barry Bishop said, "This is going to be a fantastic meeting with 3 famous sides returning to the track at Smallbrook. We hope that if this meeting proves to be the success we think it will be, we can repeat it in the years to come. Personally, I cannot wait to watch this meeting and welcome our friends from Exeter, Weymouth and Southampton to Smallbrook." Islander 15, glad you like the pricing structure. A lot of thought and discussions have gone into these figures to make sure that whilst it works for the club, the fans get the maximum benefit that can be passed on through the admission prices. The Wightlink Warriors will open the 2016 season with the Vince Mapley Memorial Trophy meeting. The meeting will celebrate the life of Vince who was a member of Team Warrior until he unfortunately passed away at the stadium whilst helping the team at Smallbrook. The season's opener will take place on Thursday April 7th and will include all 8 of the Warriors in the individual meeting and they will be joined by a further 4 riders. The trophy will be contested over 16 heats and with other surprises coming along it's sure to be a great meeting. As it's the season opener it is bound to be a night full of pride for everyone who has helped in the return of speedway to Smallbrook. Warriors Skipper Brendan Johnson said "Over the years of racing at the island, Vince was always a top guy, from helping me unload my race van to just being there for a chat if you needed it. He was a a true gentleman, so for our season opener to be in his honour is great and I will be trying to win it with pride. I would like to thank each and every member of Team Warrior, our sponsors and the promotion for getting the Warriors back on track in 2016." -

The Wightlink Warriors will be formally introduced to the fans, sponsors and press on April 2nd. Rider introductions to the media will be followed by a structured practise session where fans and sponsors will be able to see their team get to grips with the Smallbrook race track for the first time in Warrior race jackets. Admission to the rider introductions and practice day is free to all, and it is planned to follow with a “start of season” party that evening in the Premier Lounge at the stadium. Timings for the event will be released closer to the date.
