  1. I understand that but chances are the NLRC won't be finished till 3.30 at the earliest, then there's the presentation should either get in the top 3. A 5 start at Peterborough is just not enough time. A 7 start would've been attainable for both.
  2. That's a question for the relevant people to answer. I just don't see how there was ever a time where they'd make Peterborough in enough time to get set up etc.
  3. Ludicrous to think Morley and Bowtell were ever going to make Peterborough for 5pm start. I'd suggest they were never riding at Peterborough today.
  4. Are the winners of this promoted or do they take on the bottom side of the top division in a play off?
  5. This forum truly is a wonderful place. You can't state an opinion without it being shot down instantly.
  6. Didn't feel the meeting was as bad as suggested on here. The races between Harris/Garcia, Cook/Lawson and Campton/Starke were all really good. Three strong races at Ipswich is usually good going! Riss looks completely lost at the moment, lacking confidence. Lawson was good value for his points, some decent races with Cook. Garcia started strongly but appears he had bike problems later on according to his twitter post. Kemp did his job, got caught out in heat 12 on the first and second bends and that was that for his race. Campton was all over the place and struggled. Heeps just can't gate, can't see him being back next year. I still feel a team will take him but Ipswich is not the track for him. You can say the same for Covatti. For Glasgow, Cook and Harris were really strong and if they both ride like that, they do have a chance of sneaking the title. Sarjeant was impressive, scored more points than I expected. Starke was also impressive, looked fast and provided entertainment. Vissing was average but scored enough for them. Nicol seemed to struggle, not sure if that was his first visit to Foxhall? Really pleased for Jack Thomas with his second in heat 14. You could see how much it meant too him. Hopefully it goes some way to making those long journeys to Glasgow week in week out feel worthwhile for him. I'm sure it's been a draining season for him but delighted to see him pull that off and deserved for his efforts this year in trying to further his career. Glasgow just might surprise a few in the play offs with a strong top two if they can both perform as they have. Much could depend on how fit Greaves is or the guests chosen if he doesn't return.
  7. Would be amazed if Louis doesn't a huge change up over the close season. Garcia has been great, I doubted him personally but he's done fantastically. However, I think at 5.5 he may have ridden himself out of the side. Riss seems to have completely lost it recently, if he can rediscover his form he's worth a shout next year.
  8. It may be amateur but he still has to be professional surely?! He can show he cares without acting like he has previously. I'm sure people appreciate the fact that he has kept speedway going at Mildenhall but it is a promotor's choice to run a speedway team is it not? He's done a fantastic job but I just told don't believe he does things the right way. But hey, like you say, all about opinions.
  9. Looking forward to this, should be a tight meeting. Think the witches will win 48-42 if Garcia and Kemp are on form. A decent meeting in prospect certainly.
  10. I accept that fans like him because of passion, which is clear, but to me he lacks professionalism in the way he runs the club. Don't get me wrong, he's built a fantastic side this year and I really do hope the team can win it all this year because that will be the success he deserves. I just think he takes it too far at times and his comments are often unnecessary. The way I have heard him talk to riders around the pits of opposition also has been frankly remarkable and I firmly believe he lacks respect at times. Plymouth at home last year being an example when him and James Easter decided to call out the Plymouth team on the PA despite the fact that his own side also couldn't get round the track!! I think the fact I'm a Mildenhall supporter is irrelevant, if anything it qualifies me to comment more having seen his actions more than fans of other teams. Danny Ayres is different, he's a rider, not a Promotor. I believe that Mr Jolly has a lot more responsibility within the sport to act in the right manner. However, a fantastic result for the team last night. Hope Ryan isn't too badly injured, the real surprise of the side this year, has been superb.
  11. I think this is the final most speedway fans were dreading but to play devils advocate, there are positives from this Cradley team. For supporters of Cradley, having a team, whether that be a league side or just in a competition, is better than having no team. Admittedly, the situation with riders is far from ideal with Drew Kemp and Jordan Jenkins having ridden for Cradley in the tournament. However, it should be noted that the Cradley side has provided more racing opportunities for a number of young riders such as Bickley, Hampshire, Edwards and the two previously mentioned. It's also good that Cradley have done well enough to annoy Mr Jolly!! I may watch most of my speedway at Mildenhall, but that man doesn't half talk rubbish. He would start an argument in an empty room, his constant attempts at winding people up are ridiculous and I wouldn't be surprised if he is the most disliked man involved in National League speedway. As a Promotor of a team he should be a lot more professional but unfortunately he never seems to learn his lesson. On to tomorrow night, can only see Cradley winning. Much will depend on which Max Clegg turns up but I'd expect Cradley to hold an 8-12 point lead on Sunday. If Cradley can take the same side to Mildenhall, the winner of the trophy is anyone's guess. Let's hope for two cracking meetings, with all riders staying safe.
  12. Because it's one less GP where he could potentially make a final and improve his chances. Needs a big finish to the season if he ends up requiring a wildcard in my opinion.
  13. Massive blow for Zagar missing out. Must reduce his chances of gaining a wildcard.
  14. Anyone know the play off dates? Regardless of who faces who.
  15. Horrible ending to a fantastic meeting, hope Jason is ok. He really does have some dreadful accidents.
  16. Just imagine being a Belle Vue fan and having a track like this to watch speedway every week.
  17. That may just be the race of the season. Incredible, simply incredible.
  18. Drew Kemp is a seriously impressive talent. His maturity and control on the bike is far beyond his years and he seems to have it all. Let's hope he can avoid injuries and gain opportunities abroad early and make a real go of it. His paid 21 max against Eastbourne for Mildenhall earlier in the year was exceptional and he is just getting better and better every week. I don't think it'll be long before we see him manage to beat a number one in this league.
  19. Pleased to see Connor put in a strong performance. Was very disappointed when Ipswich released Connor but it seems to have been a blessing in disguise for him, securing team places at Sheffield and Leicester. It's clear he never enjoyed riding the Ipswich track and being released enabled a fresh start. Should the league set ups stay the same, Connor should have Championship and Premiership speedway next year and make the move up from the National League, hopefully as a National League Riders Champion.
  20. Was never a huge fan of Cookie before this season, but was delighted when he made the GP's last season meaning two Brits were permanent members of the series. Having followed Cookie over the season and seen the way he has interacted with his fans and given opportunities to those who have helped him has been absolutely superb and people really shouldn't forget that. It's nothing to the riders to give these opportunities to people but for the fans it's a huge memory to treasure. I am gutted for him that it hasn't gone to plan this year and he has struggled. Whilst his self confidence isn't the highest, his lack of track craft and experience have been his downfalls in the Grand Prix and it was a huge shame he didn't secure his place in the run off with Lindback in Germany. Track craft again was a big example of his issues there! However, moving back to Cookie, what he has also done for his fellow riders is fantastic and he has used his position within the sport as a GP rider admirably and whilst at times he has let himself down this year according to some, the majority of his actions have been superb. I'm all for British riders riding in both leagues personally, there isn't a huge difference between the leagues and if someone wants to ride, let them. I'm sure many fans go to tracks specifically to see Cookie now he's back in the Championship. Congratulations to Cookie for the win yesterday and hopefully he can have a good end to the season in the GP's.
  21. Best to wishes to Dan, hoping for positive news in the coming days and a speedy recovery. Everyone who follows speedway knows the risks that are taken by the riders and how dangerous it can be but it never makes it easier when someone is seriously hurt. Best wishes to his family also, must have been horrendous for his father and nan to witness the accident. Fingers crossed Dan can recover fully and resume his highly promising career. A very highly thought of youngster by many within the sport, clearly shown by all the get well messages seen across social media. Nice to see Craig Cook attempting to raise some funds for young Dan too, fantastic work again, much like his work for Mitchell Davey. He does seem to not help himself at times with his actions but he has shown this year that he truly does care for the sport and care for his fellow professionals. Great work Cookie.
  22. Gutted for Cookie tonight. Whether you like him or not, the way he has tried to involve his supporters in his Grand Prix journey should be admired hugely. Really hope Cookie can bang in at least two semis in the last five GP's to give himself a chance of a wildcard. I think he'll struggle to do it but you never know. Either way, he qualified by right last year and has got so close to pulling it off again, hopefully that will be recognised.
  23. Very good meeting tonight, best I've seen at Foxhall for a while with plenty of passing. Redcar were good value for their point, Jorgensen particularly impressive. Possibly harshly done by with his heat 13 exclusion too, depending on the angle people saw. Berge and Jonas Andersen improved over the meeting, however Barker, whilst all action, looked slow and couldn't make much of the impact. The reserves struggled, never looked comfortable. For the Witches, Schlein, Covatti and Heeps all did a decent job. Covatti was unlucky with a puncture and Schlein cutting him off in heat 15 when he possibly thought he was Jorgensen. Mark Riss looks a very good signing at home, clearly very comfortable at Foxhall. Garcia tried hard, throwing himself around everywhere and I'm sure he'll improve around Foxhall which will be needed against higher quality reserve pairings. As for Wallinger, there isn't really much to say. I didn't expect him to score a point but watching a Championship rider having to free wheel into the bends in his first race was a new experience. He might get Redcar away next week but I'd be amazed if he's still in the side for the next home meeting. You have to feel for him as he's completely out of his depth, an incredible decision from the promotion which needs explaining. An 'enthusiastic approach' is certainly not a good enough reason to sign a rider! Tom Brennan, Nathan Stoneman, Josh Bailey and Ryan Kingsley are all clear, stronger options. I presume Bailey has an average so probably can't guest but the other three must be able too and I'm sure they won't turn down the opportunities at Foxhall. On a sidenote, really pleased to see Connor Mountain win the Top Gun Individual at Sheffield tonight. Congratulations Connor.
  24. Yes, they certainly should. I hope that rule is brought back in next year.
