  1. A very good question, gustix. PreviewsDecember Stoke02/01/2017 12:00 1600cc Bangers TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS, 2 Litre Bangers, Lady Bangers, Hot Rods, Junior Bangers The ULTIMATE KINGS OF CRASH TEAM WARS! Gates Open 10:30amNO advance tickets required, you may simply pat at the gates from 10.30.am, credit and debit card welcome - BUT you can save £2 a ticket by booking your tickets in advance by credit card or debit card by calling the office up to 22nd December. Admission ' on the day ' Adults £16 Concession /NUS £14 Child 12 -15 £6 Accompanied Under 12's FREE Trackside Parking [ limited ] £5 Raceday Magazine £1 Copyright © 2016 All Rights Reserved - Startrax | Site by Chris Frankum Members of British Stock Car Association (F1 & F2) & Oval Racing Council International So it would look like the basic admission charge is £3 higher for the next banger racing bonanza. But if you book your ticket in advance and pay by card, then you save £2. Strangely, there seems to be no mention of the nonsensical Booking Fee that Belle Vue charged last year. And you get a Raceday Magazine for your pound rather than a weedy bit of a programme! So that brings the basic adult admission price down to £14 and seeing as the crash bang fun seems to go on all afternoon, this probably represents rather better value than the speedway offering. And of course, the 2nd January meeting welcomes back the Lady Bangers, so it seems pretty good value to me!
  2. Not by me! If your prices are realistic enough then you don't need concessions for grown ups. If NL promoters can't make a go of it with £10 admission, they either need to get more people through the door, get more sponsorship, pay the riders less or knock it on the head. uk martin, you didn't answer my question - do you think £1 per minute of racing compares well with other offerings?
  3. And indeed, perhaps speedway is neither an entertainment or a sport but a business. Formula 1 used to be a sport, it used to be entertaining but is now just a business activity. In reality, speedway is probably a mixture of all three but following some of my recent visits to some ropey set-ups, I might vote for None of the Above!
  4. Well, they must be pretty strong rumours if people know that the new tenants have got big wallets. Wow! At this rate, they might even be able to afford to pay the rent. Happy days, methinks.
  5. If prices are set at a realistic level then you don't need concessionary rates for old-timers. Do you think £13 to get into Stoke, plus £1 to park your car and another £1 for a programme (total £15) represents good value for 15 minutes of racing? No, of course you don't. £10 admission including complimentary race card with accompanied children (1 per adult) free sounds about right to me. Or do you think £1 per minute compares well with other entertainment providers?
  6. Well, all this sounds very encouraging. Clearly, you know the identity of the new lease holders and their budget. When do you think this information will be available to the rest of us? Thanks
  7. Well, there we go. If me and you like some of these changes, then we have got to be in with a chance of something coming out of this conflab. Hooray!
  8. So the great event is next Tuesday. Anybody and suggestions as to what might be on the agenda apart from lowering the team average? Hopefully, they are not going to re-brand the thing the National Leaguership or anything like that. So will it just be 30 minutes of mutual back-slapping and then off to the bar? Or just possibly, might there be some dynamic new initiative to re-invigorate the League such as lowering admission prices, putting on decent second halves or banning rider replacement. Fingers crossed.
  9. 39.5? I thought that team average was coming down for next year? Friend Pipe has suggested a figure of 35.
  10. Welcome to Lakeside! Yes, Ommer Mon, NL is undoubtedly the place to be and I eagerly await some Hitmen v Hammers clashes.
  11. Nathan Mole illustrates my point. Have clear, simple and unambiguous rules and apply them equally to all. Speedway has enough challenges without getting bogged down in interpreting over complex rules and everyone falling out with each other.
  12. Well, that's all well and good but unless the same rules apply to everybody, then the whole thing degenerates into a farce. Precedents are set and people start saying that if Team A did it, then Team B are going to do it. Before you know it, the recriminations start and fingers start pointing and people are shouting favouritism. The rules are the rules. If people don't like the rules, then see about getting them changed.
  13. Good attempt, Islander15 but I am led to believe that one or two of those mentioned in your list were not planning on returning to Buxton for a further season. But Friend Pipe does mention in his latest offering that the signing of young Mr Williamson has encouraged a couple of the waverers not to jump ship. Not quite sure how they would get on when Matt is away on other business but we shall see.
  14. Thank you, foamfence. I don't do the Twitter thing, so I probably hadn't seen that.
  15. ..............or if foamfence has gone for a bit of a lie down, perhaps someone else would be kind enough to give me a link? Thanks Good grief! I was not aware that anyone had suggested that you were a liar. I have always regarded you as an honourable person.
  16. Okikoki. Do me a favour, foamfence, put me a link up to the chairman's statement about the progress that is being made. Ta muchly
  17. Everything seems to have gone a bit quiet on the NSS front. Has anyone heard anything definite on whether they have found someone to take the lease on? Perhaps, they need to get any potential new leaseholders very carefully vetted by Manchester City Council's legal/financial bods. Obviously, it would be nice to hear something about any new leaseholders before Christmas but I suppose the City council have to extra cautious after the problems with the previous tenants. Hopefully, with a new lease in place, Belle Vue Aces can start making some plans for 2017. Fingers crossed.
  18. So one down, six to go. Mr Pipe told the tifosi that he would be building the team to the rumoured 35 points limit. On that basis, it will be interesting to see where the remaining 25.51 points is going to be allocated. 1. Matt Williamson (9.49) 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Look out for Jason Pipe in a pub near you any time soon, as he unveils more International Men of Mystery.
  19. So the new Buxton No 1 is.......................................................Chris Morton. Only joking, it is Matt Williamson. But then I had already told you that. Nice one..........hooray! .............but obviously, decided to keep this information to yourself and not share it with your friends on here. Nice. I know the numbers for this week's lottery but obviously, i won't be telling TurnTwo. So there. Not a great guesser, methinks!
  20. Well, that's interesting HAMMER180. What are all these promises that have been made?
  21. I took my mum to a northern NL speedway venue once. I said look at that rider, "he is from Australia". She said, "couldn't they get somebody more local?" She said, "I think I could do with going to the loo". I said, "if I were you, I would try and hold on until you get home". She said, "well, that didn't take too long. Do they do it all again in the 2nd half?. I said, "perhaps we'll try the cricket next week, mum".
