  1. Not that long since the BSPA had a very good deal with a certain Sky TV - for some reason(s) and after many years of enjoying the cash, they don't appear to have done anything with it? Unless you include giving out a commission to a certain Mr R or paying "top" riders more than they could afford to do so.
  2. Not sure if this is the correct thread or if it's been posted elsewhree but found this on facebook........ "Positive negotiations are currently well advanced to bring speedway back to West Yorkshire for the first time since 1997. Issues such as the track, perimeter fencing and intended pit area have been scrutinised and agreed upon, with professional guidance and no structural limitations remain preventing the sport being re-born locally. Though the track will be to FIM standard, the new team is envisaged to compete initially at National League level and race as the YORKSHIRE DUKES!"
  3. Sad news last week about the death Alan Knapkin. Wore many hats in his time at Odsal. RIP http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/local/localbrad/16093056.Tributes_paid_to_speedway_star_who_was___39_a_credit_to_Bradford_sport__39_/
  4. Seems BT have only bid on one of the football packages on offer & of course Sky have taken up the majority - then again without football there wouldn't be too much on Sky. Seems it works out at something like £9+ million per game over three years. A couple of packages left at a "bargain" £5+ million per game. Hopefully there will be some Speedway news now that the all important football deal is done?
  5. With regard to stats in football - Sky Sports are obsessed with them. Most meters run, most touches of ball, most assists, most tackles - the list goes on. Then again it's probably just a time filler on Sky. I'm no football fan so don't find the stats of any interest and I very much doubt fans are either? Team managers and coaches yes, in fact many clubs employee someone to compile the stats. With regard to football the one stat that would interest me is just how many times these "professionals" fall over every match.
