2009 Sgp- Who Will Win?
diamond@heart replied to Wildcat's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Would like to see Nicki win it again and if he does it will still not shut the boo boys up. I think Crump and Andersen will mount a stronger challenge in 09. Nicholls has to perform better this year as if he does not he has to consider the fact that he is simply not good enough. Would like to have a British rider to cheer on but am I asking for too much. -
Scott Nicholls
diamond@heart replied to schumi's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Totally agree, I don't think Nicholls adds anytbhing to the GP, he has enough chances to prove he can cut it in the GP and has yet to do it. I think this should have been his last chance and if he should be in the GP let him go through the correct route like most riders have too. I would give his place to Holder, it might be too early for Tai but you never know he may rise to the ocassion. I go to Cardiff each year, I like to see the Brits do well but I am often cheering for somene else who I feel has a real chance. -
Congratulations Nicki
diamond@heart replied to Lis's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Congrats to Nicki on your 3rd World Title won in style proving your the best in the world. Heres hoping for No. 4 in 2009. Sad to see some people on here cannot admit when they are wrong and still have to have a go at Nicki. -
I personally think that Bomber, Richardson and Nicholls should have been rested for the round at Coventry and we should have fielded a team of youngsters including Bridger as to be honest, in that particular meeting we were only in this meeting to beat Czech Rep as we did not stand a chance against the Danes. Therefore we were only really fighting for 3rd place. Time we start giving a few more of the youngsters a chance and they need a chance to try and prove themselves.

Swc Round 2 Coventry 14th July
diamond@heart replied to skid row's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think Nicholls, Richardson and Bomber should have been dropped last night and we should have fielded a team of youngsters to give them additional experience. I was of the opinion that we were never going to compete with the Danes and the Swedes to a certain extent and so we only had to beat the Czechs (which we almost did not do). This is why I think it would have been more prudent to field a team with Tai, Kingy, Kennett, Stead and Allen for example to give them some experience. We could have had Nicholls, Rico and Bomber in the pits assisting and advising. I think we are putting Tai under too much pressure and some are expecting him to waltz into Thursday's race off and beat everyone. We are putting into a meeting which puts greater pressure on his shoulders, not that I don't think he has the talent and ability, I just feel it is unfair on him. On a final note, I watched the whole of the meeting last night waiting for team GB to turn up and I'm still waiting and we should remove the word team away from Team GB as a team we are not. The Danes, Czechs and Swedes were seen to be talking to each other after every race, but the brits were not, which is why I think we were so rubbishe and the fact our capital is an ego not a captain. -

Anyone stayed at Mercure the Lodge on Tyndall Street, whats it like?? -
I thought it was brilliant, top marks from me. Only thing I would complain about was the Baywatch theme, WHY!!!! Loved Fanfare for a Common Man, took me back, heres hoping your back next year. You need a song next year for riders choking under the pressure (Step forward Scott Nicholls and take a bow )

Can I just point out that contact was made with Nicki on both times by both Adams and Bjarne and although Nicki stayed down for a while and did not appear injured, he only did what Gollob has been doing for years, giving his pit crew time to repair his machinery. This constant Nicki bashing is getting pathetic now Also, Nicki did not get two riders eliminated by staying down, I think the referee chose to disqualify them.

"british Fans A Disgrace"
diamond@heart replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Totally agree with Pedersen and I think certain British fans were a disgrace, a number of them calling him scum and cheering when he came off. I think I was one of the few who wanted him to win the final just to shut a lot of them up and I think Nicki is great and great for speedway. It is true what Nicki said, he did not exclude Adams or Bjarne and the only person who should have been the object of the crowds boos was the referee who was a damn disgrace. -

Gp Qualifier - Czestochowa
diamond@heart replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Yes would love to see Rico back in the GP series, would swap him for Scott 'no chance of inning a GP' Nicholls anyday. And according to Nigel Pearson, Nicholls is the man all of the public would love to see ontop of the podium at a GP. I don't think so Nigel -

Cardiff Gp 2007 Tickets For Sale
diamond@heart replied to rabbit's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I must admit Cardiff is getting abit expensive these days, I don't think the ticket prices are too bad for what you get, it is just all the added expense of getting there and your accommodation and such. When I think it costs about £60 to £80 for me to get there in fuel, I could fly to Prague for less than that from the toon. I think it is shocking how year on year the hotels increase their prices but I suppose if I was in their shoes I would do the same (just trying to make a buck). I think the camp site sounds a great idea but I don't think I could do it, too much hassle having to pitch my tent and all that, I'm to lazy. Hope you find someone to buy your tickets. -

British Selection For 2007
diamond@heart replied to Gaz W's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I am a big Mark Loram fan and think it would be great to see him back in the GP's but I personally think it should be Nicholls and Bomber. From what I have seen of Bomber on Sky this year he is by far streets ahead of any of the other British riders, with the exception of Nicholls. I think Loram has had his chance and Stead is not yet ready and put him in the GP now may do more damage than good. So for me, Bomber of Nicholls, sorry Loramski. -
He is not my favourite rider but credir where credit is due and well done Crumpy. Fully deserved and was by far the better rider all season. Just wished he had shown this form last year and he may have made it more interesting between him and Rickardsson. Cannot see anyone stopping Crump next year either, sad to say.
-
As much as I would like to see Mark back in the GP Series I think it would be a mistake. I think we need to bring the younger Brits along and filling the series with riders such as Loram, as entertainig as he is is not the way forward. I agree that Stead and Harris are probably not ready, but if we are to have 2 Brits in the series next year, then I feel these are our best two hopes at the moment. Richardson is better than both of them but he is too inconsistant and suffers with machinery problems to much. If we keep excluding Steady and Harris from events such as this, when and where are they going to get the experience for them to be at that level. As many people have said, it is OK racing Adams, Crump and Hancock in the league, but the GP is a different kettle of fish and all riders within it up there game in GP's. I agree with SCB in that the GP Series should be the best 16 riders in the world at that particular time and riders should not be in because a country is not represented. As I have said I would love to see Mark back in the series but I don't think it will happen and if Steady and Harris don't qualify themselves, I think we may have one Brit in the 2007 Series.
-
For me it has to be: Mark Loram Scott Nicholls Lee Richardson David Norris Simon Stead with the selection to be reviewed for the playoff and final if we make it, and it a big if.

British Grand Prix
diamond@heart replied to drakey's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I've ordered mine and have not received them yet. I ordered mine a couple of years ago and a week before the event I had not received them and so had to travel to Cardiff without any tickets and go to the office to collect them which was fine, apart from the fact that when I got to the office they had no record of me and could not connect to the server to verify that I had ordered tickets, I was not happy. They eventually sorted out the technical problems and I got my tickets, but I was panicking for a while. So don;t worry if you do not get your tickets in time, just collect them from the gate, and pray they have sorted out the IT problems. -

Wembley Gp Event
diamond@heart replied to T.N.T.'s topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Totally agree with everyone here that Cardiff should be left alone. The city has everything within a stones throw of the stadium, lots of bars and shops etc. I cannot see us being awarded an additional GP at the moment but you never know and the only time I would think that Wembley would replace Cardiff is when and I say when as it will happen, we reach maximum capacity for the British GP at Cardiff and they have to look elsewhere in order for the stage to grow. For me it is just as easy to get to Cardiff as London as I can fly or drive. I have been to Hackney and I do not know London that well but I can imagine Wembley will be the same as Hackney in that, it is stuck out in the middle of nowhere with nothing around it, so if you arrive early, you have nothing to do for the rest of the day until the event starts, unlike Cardiff, where you can have a good drink and a chat with fellow fans and a bit of shopping for the ladies as well. So Cardiff gets my vote everytime. -
Bjarne Pedersen Wins Danish Championship
diamond@heart replied to Tiddie Woo's topic in International World of Speedway
Great to see ex-Diamonds doing so well. Good on you Bjarne, Kenneth and Nicki. I think the Danes may be worth a flutter on them winning the World Cup this year.
