Oxford Cheetahs 2022
PotteringAround replied to CowleyCheetahs's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
If Oxford are going Championship, then Chris Harris has made a cock-up by signing for 2 Championship teams. -
Not sure what your point is by trying to shame Speedway Updates for wrong use of terminology with the word guest. Speedway updates is a brilliant resource. It's completely unofficial, unpaid, and run by fantastic volunteers. Shame on you trying to pull them up for using the wrong word. To get it right, you could of course read the Speedway Regulations (available free online) where you would learn under what circumstances a club is eligible to use a guest, and under what circumstances it isn't eligible to use a guest, and must use an unattached rider instead. The consensus of opinion seems to be that the NL has made a move in the right direction by limiting the circumstances in which a guest can be used, and moving towards giving unattached riders the opportunities instead. But clearly nothing suits you. So perhaps you could enlighten us all what would stop your moaning? So, here's the question:- A rider in a team suffers a fall during his team's match and bangs his head. He's ruled out with concussion for 9 days. His team have a meeting 7 days later. They are already using R/R. Who should replace the concussed rider in this meeting? a) A rider from another team (a guest) b) A rider not in another team (an unattached rider) c) Something else (please explain) Now we know you don't approve of a), and you are whinging about b), so please explain your option c).

I remember that Terry Lindon chap who bought Berwick and disappeared after some scandal and brushes with the law. Didn't he also raffle his sports car, selling tickets to the Berwick fans, and then by some miraculous coincidence his bessie mate won it before he disappeared? Think that was him...
-
Because you clearly don't.

Whose team exactly do you think Terry-Daley, Sealey and Muff are in? I definitely saw both teams only using unattached riders. Perhaps you need to go back and read my previous email properly, where I commented on how good it has been this year in the NL, with teams covering gaps with unattached riders instead of resorting to guests.

It's factual information that Dan Bewley won't be at Belle Due next year. But whether he'll be at Belle Vue is a different matter. I'm sure he wants to be. No doubt other people are waving money at him. Belle Vue and British Speedway needs him, and I think he needs Belle Vue.

Talking of guests (of which there were none in last night's match) I think the NL have done a good job of reducing guests, by allowing more unattached riders. I note that despite injuries and a retirement, Belle Vue have not borrowed a guest rider from another team all year. When McGurk and Bowen were injured, they used unattached 3-point riders. When Compton was injured they brought Jack Smith in, and when Woodhull retired they brought Sam Woolley in. Not one rider in the 1-7 of another club appeared for Belle Vue all year! I've not checked all their results yet, but I can't remember Kent using a guest all year either. (I may be wrong).

Can I suggest you ask for a new calculator for Christmas? The famous Barry Meeks Crewe track record which stood in the Guinness Book of Records for many years was 54.62mph When Mark Loram broke the Exeter track record in 1996 it was at an average speed of 55.11mph After Exeter closed, Ricky Ashworth became the fastest man on a current track in October 2010 when he broke the Sheffield track record at an average speed of 54.66mph (faster than Meeks, but slower than Loram). The Sheffield track record remains the fastest at 54.66mph Belle Vue's N.S.S is 53.37mph King's Lynn is 53.17mph Peterborough is 52.72mph Ipswich is 46.03mph Wolverhampton is 44.83mph

Belle Vue v Peterborough Panthers - Grand Final
PotteringAround replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It wasn't up for debate. Once he was ruled out with concussion on Monday night, he was automatically ruled out 9 days. There's an injured riders list circulated to all referees and promoters. He was on the referees list on Tuesday night at Leicester showing 9 days suspension. -

Hans was ruled out on Monday with a 9 day mandatory concussion suspension. Keep up. -

Because Cook for Hans, and R/R for Ostergaard allows everyone to take the RR If it was Cook for Ostergaard and R/R for Hans, then Palm-Toft couldn't take the RR. -

With Cook in for Andersen, are Peterborough stronger? Andersen's average has come from some big scores at reserve, taking candy from babies, but he's replaced by someone whose points have come as a top heat leader, so a much stronger rider. -

Sometimes you have to wait over 2 years to be in a position to exact your revenge, eh Cookie? https://www.cc111.co.uk/blog/in-response-peterborough -

Surely if the weather is fine, the track should be excellent. There's no excuse for a poor track! -

Mandatory concussion suspension goes on age for younger riders. 23 days for 15 year olds 12 days for 16-19 year olds 9 days for anyone over 19. -

On the residential streets where there is a parking permit scheme, yes. But not in Asda. They allow football parking in there as part of the scheme to keep cars off residential streets. -

They don't. They have attendants ticketing cars on residential streets which have a Parking Permit system. But you can park in the Asda next to Manchester City for 4 hours while at the match and it's fine. (DId it the other week, along with hundreds of others). But that's a massive Asda (even has a Starbucks or Costa drive through in the car park). The one on Kirkmanshulme Lane is smaller, but presume it's ok. I was just looking for local knowledge as to whether your hubcaps would stay intact in Kirky Lane Asda. -
Leicester v Belle Vue was in the fixtures for 11 Septemeber. A week or so before the fixture Leicester decided they needed to fit in Leicester v Edinburgh Championship match that had been postponed in August. For a while rumours said it was a double header with the BV fixture after. But that didn't happen and the NL match was bumped. Apparently BV have been asking for a new date since then.

What about the Asda at top of Kirkmanshulme Lane or the Tesco on Hyde Road? Both within a reasonable walk. Are they viable? I know Manchester City is next to a big Asda and there's no problem there with 4 hours parking allowed. -

Correct. But it doesn't say Brady Kurtz is riding as the incorrect Peterborough Telegraph does. -

Peterborough picked Wolves. The "meeting of whoever" decided that Peterborough were strong favourites to finish top of the league, so Peterborough were given choice.... and they chose Wolves. Wolves were bullied into saying that if they finished top they would want to pick Peterborough. (Of course they wouldn't have wanted to pick Peterborough, but this was done on the basis that Wolves were unlikely to finish top anyway. But if somehow they had done, I'd guess their fans wouldn't have been too happy). -
Sheffield vs King's Lynn 5pm 26/09/21
PotteringAround replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Just a bit of practice for Sheffield. It keeps the momentum going, and I see them building up enough of a lead on Thursday against a Belle Vue side who haven't ridden for about 3 weeks, to make a second leg comeback impossible for the Aces.
