  1. In my opinion the council don't want speedway in Birmingham, The Arc don't want speedway at any of their stadiums, hence the high rents, once the commonwealth games are over only the mainstream football and cricket will be in this city, don't forget they won't let Moseley rugby club have any sort of stadium, just an old playing fields that was once used for Sunday league football.
  2. Then Birmingham lose another sport if there is a problem with the dogs, we've already lost one greyhound stadium in the city, I know the council don't give a flying toss about sport in this city, but we the residents of the city do care, if Perry Barr had problems the stadium would fall into disrepair and stand empty like it did for years many moons ago
  3. I was told this today about the MD, hopefully it will be sorted in Brummies favour, but what I heard is the owners of Perry Barr stadium will want the rental fee upfront, there is no guarantee brummies will generate the income from attendances alone, so there must be a big sponsorship incoming to make 2022 possible
  4. Hopefully it goes in Brummies favour, but the owners of Perry Barr stadium want guarantees that the speedway will run, no guarantees have yet come forward. I 100% believe the person who told me, he is a big player when it comes to Perry Barr issues, like I said dont shoot the messenger
  5. I agree, would give new owners time to assess the whole situation thoroughly, what they can work out with stadium owners, sponsorships etc and start planning a team with a plan in place, hopefully if the rumour is true, brummies will come out of it healthier and in a much better situation to work something out regarding the stadium, rent etc, but I think a season away could also be detrimental in the long run
  6. I am hearing a rumour that brummies won't run in 2022, everything will be geared up for a 2023 return if they can get the stadium owners to agree a deal, don't shoot the messenger
  7. All quiet on the western front? Would there be any riders left now for the Brummies to sign, if they run
  8. How come Oxford got back in then? And Workington are coming back First I have heard of this stupid rule if true
  9. That was nearly 15 years ago mate, look around the city to see how things are changing, the council don't give a toss about Birmingham Speedway and if they got their way they would rid the city of all sports events, they have not really spared too much on the commonwealth stadium, look at Manchester commonwealth stadium, millions spent and its beautiful, it was big enough to take on man City FC after the games, our stadium is just a botch job with a new stand for a games that we only got because others dropped out
  10. Can't see many alternatives for a new location. Birmingham is quite a residential area and land is being swallowed up for more houses. Hall green greyhounds is long gone, Birmingham wheels is gone, there really is not a lot of options I'm afraid, Perry Barr is the only option I can see, if that goes or the greyhounds kick us out Birmingham loses its speedway team, HS2 has also swallowed up a lot of spare land too, I have racked my brains trying to find an alternative venue, there really is nowhere else to go, plus who funds the cost of a new track, I will tell you now Birmingham City Council won't do it. Hopefully something can be done to save the brummies but I would say at the moment it's 30% to continue, but while there is hope we can still dream
  11. To be honest, it pains me to say but I dont think the brummies will run in 2022, I just don't see 1000 people going, maybe for a couple of weeks it could happen but it will revert to below that over the season, unfortunately the stadium owners are in a business and they want to see profit, I do believe they barely break even for the greyhound racing, speedway is not a sport that really captures the imagination of the younger generation in the city of Birmingham, dare i say it but once the older fans start fading away they won't be replaced, it's a shame but unfortunately it's the way it is, I have said before and will say it again younger generation want stuff like T20 Cricket, Football, even Formula 1, Birmingham is going through a major redevelopment and once that is complete, there will be so much to do for the youngsters, I asked a few of the kids around here about speedway and they had not got a clue what I was on about, the 20 odd years without speedway in Brum destroyed a potential couple of generations getting into it, I hope I am wrong, but I do believe it's going to take a miracle to get Birmingham to the tapes for 2022
  12. Tracey and her family as loyal has they come, hopefully Brummies can get this over the line and have a bright and prosperous future. With it taking so long to sort out, which is quite understandable do we think Brummies may miss out in 2022 and restart the following season or are the BSPA wanting answers in regards to 2022 season
  13. How do you know he is not in the know, seems a very confident post, although I would be very surprised if it does happen, King I don't think will sign, or Barker tbh, let's get Brum back on the track first, I still get the feeling it maybe NDL. If they do run
  14. Thanks Brian, never knew that, I did know it was in place at one time
  15. Thankyou Speedway fan, that is all we ask for, at least now we have something, a bit of information to keep us updated
  16. I am sure all Brummie fans would like to hear something, are there any interested parties or not, thats not a big ask is it. If there is nothing to report then say so, or just say talks are ongoing with interested parties or not, keep the fans in the loop like Newcastle did when it looked like the end for them
  17. T20 is great for the kids, it's exciting and quite cheap for a good entertainment package, I can't see how speedway can compete when other sports offer far more for the kids, I don't know what could be done to attract a younger generation, ask any kid a famous footballer he will reel off 20-30 names, ask him to name a famous speedway rider I bet 99% would not be able to name one.
  18. Well that's the big question who would pick up the bill, I get the feeling that if Brummies continue it will be in the NDL, would love to see someone like Jason Lyons or Phil Morris involved in a prominent role of management or development of young riders, trouble is again it comes down to cost, speedway is not very popular in Birmingham anymore especially with the younger generation, I would say a good portion of Brum supporters are in the 55+ age bracket. Birmingham is a city going through a big change regarding the regeneration of things, there is lots of things to do and with the football clubs, the cricket, speedway in Brum has a lot of competition in attracting supporters, I think everything has been tried to attract a new generation of speedway fans, unfortunately it's not really worked, maybe for a couple of weeks then the interest goes away, I took my grandsons down first week they loved it, week after they wanted to go home after 2 heats, I take them to football and T20 cricket at Edgbaston and they love it, the atmosphere at these is a different world, but like I said before, hopefully someone can come in and do things which will bring younger generation fans to Brum.
  19. Don't see any doom and gloom here, just a basic question, it would be nice for the club to make some sort of statement regarding the state of play. When is the cut off date for clubs to announce to the authorities the intentions for 2022 whether they are racing or not, what league teams are intending to race in, time waits for no man, of course things are not done overnight we know that. I am involved at Perry Barr greyhound stadium and nothing is coming through in regards to the speedway for 2022, I fear we have seen the last of the Brummies, but hope that someone can come in and rebuild what Tony Mole and Brian Buck fought so hard to bring back to Birmingham.
  20. Any news on any potential takeover at the Brummies, such a shame if we lost a famous club, all i know is if the club is closed down then the track at Perry Barr would have to be removed to its original state before Brummies re-opened in 2007, fingers crossed that something is sorted out but the silence is deafening, and at this moment in time it looks like the death of the Brummies, I doubt very much if planning permission would be granted again if the club reformed in a couple of years time, especially if the track is removed
