What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
Pitch replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I doubt there are 3 championship clubs willing to go up, glasgow and Poole etc know they are onto a more profitable product in the championship. Also if 3 teams did go up that would leave the championship in a similar mess with only 6 teams. -

I agree with you 100% , odd that some people on hear and some clubs think keeping Emil and Co in a 5 team league is more important than having one league of 14 championship level clubs. -

Yes 16 meetings total, that means you only get to see your team at home 8 times during the regular league season. Sorry what is NL/NT -

How would a 5 team premiership work, home and away twice is only 8 home league meetings. Home and away 4 times would be 16 home league meetings but it would be very dull seeing the same teams over and over. Surely you cant then have 4 out of 5 teams in the play offs. All options are pathetic. -
Ah ok thanks, I'll edit/correct my post.

Yes, I see two of his businesses, Purplerock, and City auction group are sponsoring the Panthers for this upcoming meeting.

Sheffield v Birmingham 03/07/25
Pitch replied to 4thbender's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yes this goes someway to proving (what some people say) that British Speedway doesn't really need expensive star riders draining their coffers to produce a good meeting. Like you say it levelled this meeting out somewhat. -
Has to he one league surely.
-
Yes they did let it slip that the club in question had 3 teams. So it does obviously point towards Oxford.

I don't know about any rumours. But Peter Oakes wrote in speedway star about 2 weeks ago that along with Birmingham not running next year, one other Premiership team is planning on going back to the championship next year. Also on 360 Speedway the panel said the same thing but didn't mention the club.

Yes I listened to him, I thought what a great guy. He has spent a fortune on keeping Brummies up and running and still has the passion to try and find a new home for them to carry on. But could perhaps do with some help and guidance from someone so he can at least break even.

Thanks very much for the info. I'm very much looking forward to the meeting.

Hi Belle Vue fans, I am travelling from Peterborough to Belle Vue on Monday for the Peter Craven meeting. I have booked tickets and Programme's. I don't seem to be able to book car parking, perhaps it is sold out. Any tips on where to park nearby (I don't mind a bit of a walk) would be greatly appreciated.

Ipswich Belle Vue Sheffield Birmingham Kings Lynn Oxford Leicester If line ups don't change too dramatically over the season.
-
IMHO Ipswich, Sheffield, Belle Vue, & Birmingham in the play offs.
-
Yes I got the impression Artem Laguta enjoyed his time at Peterborough, as did Vadim Tarasenko who would of probably also stayed on.
-
So has Keir Starmer's new 300,000 houses a year policy made it more difficult for the Panthers. How much is it going to affect the next council meeting, set to be held on January 13th 2025.

What has happened to Ben Basso? -
Where is Ben Basso at this year?

So if this is correct (I'm not saying it isn't) and if Panthers are ever back on track, then they might not be welcomed back into the Premiership?
-
Just for a bit of balance, Panthers were without their No1 Ulrich Ostergaard and used R/R to cover for him, also lost Hans Andersen for both legs after his crash in his first ride of the 1st Leg at Belle Vue. Also Michael Palm Toft rode with a broken left hand for both legs after crashing against Wolves in the semi finals.

Would love to see him back in the UK, he was ace at Peterborough in 2023.
