  1. All Sheffield need to do is gate, trouble is none of them can. Yet another Beaumont Park borefest looms...........
  2. Whilst we're on a trip down memory lane I feel the need to share this. It's 1977 and Mum and Dad are still together. Saturday nights we'd travel to Lynn from Aylsham via the B1145 as that was the fastest route. I remember getting fish and chips somewhere in Lynn and the owners had a Boxer dog that we used to have slobbery kisses with being Boxer owners. I was 7 and Sunday mornings were spent with me being Michael Lee whist riding up and down Sir Williams Close in Aylsham on my Raleigh Chipper (the Grifter would come later). I had a red plastic p'ss pot helmet, KL race jacket and wellies. I would do 'gardening' at the pretend tapes and lots of practice starts. Good times!
  3. As has been mentioned, my overriding memory of Brandon was that of a very slick track that favoured the Scandinavians. Some good nights there though, I was married to a Leicester lass so always incorporated a visit with one to the in-laws.
  4. Ipswich will treat this as practice for the first leg of the playoff final.
  5. One big league is fine by me. If it's watered down that's equally fine. I want to see good racing, not superstars. Think it was 1996 we had the one big league when Eastbourne won and it was a very enjoyable season. It would be great to go see KL away at Scunny and several other tracks, as well as see some new teams at Saddlebow. (which is how I will always refer to it) Assuming I still support the KL sh#t show.......................
  6. Maybe there is a slim chance of Poole moving up (therefore being on TV) But it's a bit early to be giving Discovery+/TNT/BSN/ a huge stiffy. And that's without mentioning Mr. Top Drawer/you would suggest/three big points/fires himself to the front/stolen a march.
  7. If Iversen pulls his finger out and Klindt has his gating gloves on we could get 40.
  8. I'd like to think a barrister's grammar would be better than that! Actually I did watch this one, thinking that the track alterations had made for better racing. They haven't...........
  9. I was around in the days of Ivan Mauger, and regularly watched Tony Rik and I consider Zmarzlik the greatest speedway rider in history already. Impossible to catch if he gates and brilliant to watch come through the field when he doesn't. Initially I though it was a massive shame that Laguta was unable to defend his title, but all Laguta is is fast. He's just Vaculik with better equipment, this year he wouldn't see which way Bartek went. But what I like most about Bartek is that he has no ego whatsoever, he just loves what he does and that's a rare trait.
  10. I used to think Arena Essex(Lakeside)was bad but Leicester is the WORST track in the history of British Speedway. The only track where I don’t bother watching a meeting. ONE overtake all night !!!!!!!!
  11. Speedway is very much a working class sport. But not nearly as much as banger racing as there tend to be several people with teeth.
  12. Would love to go for a pint with Peter Adams. A sense of humour so dry he could start a forest fire.
  13. NSS always serves up awesome racing. However, the cynic in me says it will be slicker than snot for the GPs. That's before I've looked at a weather forecast!
  14. I think Ipswich will win at a canter. Kvech is a worry, even at reserve. A lot will depend on whether a 'Harris' track is prepared. Even if Klindt won't like it.
  15. Any BSB fans here? You need to see Peter Hickman standing next to Richard Cooper! Also, all riders look much larger in their kevlars. I remember once seeing Kenneth Bjerre in jeans and tee-shirt and could not believe just how tiny he was. He always had fast equipment as well so he must have had one of the best power/weight ratios.
