It is going to be a news/scores app to make is easier to follow meetings live, check results, tables, etc as there isn't really anything like that at the moment. The Polish League have one (the app is just called Ekstraliga I believe) which would be a good indication of what I am aiming for. Also the Premier League football one as well as Fotmob are other good references.

I am thinking of creating an app for British speedway as a project in my own time. I have some ideas of what could be included, but any suggestions for features/functionality would be appreciated.

Number of Meetings in the UK

I thought he only rode for Ipswich this year, unless I am going mad -
This is exactly what I am getting at. You need to make it easy to stumble across as well as keeping it short enough to keep viewers engaged (not too much nothingness between heats).
-
Yeah agreed 14/15 clubs is a lot, so maybe starting with the premiership would be a good start. I wonder if some sort of mobile app would help as it would make it easier to track fixtures and results and keep everything contained in one place

That is for the people with the knowledge to decide, but we can't just keep blocking changes to the sport just because they cost money. People aren't just going to become fans of the sport for no reason. You need to make it easy to follow, easy to engage with, make it easier to see results and rider data so they can learn more and gain an interest in the sport. I would suggest making it free on YouTube and subsidising the cost via sponsoring of the videos. The main issue would be getting the footage itself, to edit and voice over a 25 minute YouTube video shouldn't be too difficult. Also having it on YouTube should make it accessible to a wide range of audiences and hopefully should recommend the content to fans of similar motorsports and grow an audience that way. In my opinion we are at the stage where things just need to be tried as otherwise the sport is going to slowly die.
-
Need to target the younger audience as the current fanbase is certainly not get any younger. I personally think a lot more can be done on social media to promote the sport. I think a highlights package for every meeting is a must and should be condensed as much as possible.
-
This is why I think speedway should have moved to a more football based model with riders not being able to ride for multiple different teams across the continent and being assets with contracts with their club. Riders would then have a value and it would also be worth putting the time in to develop young riders who you could then sell to the richer Polish clubs to help cover costs

Number of Meetings in the UK

How would fanbases get smaller and rents increase? -
I noticed that Tom Brennan done 40 meetings in the UK, which is only just shy of the 45 he done in Poland and Sweden combined. Is there an argument that there are too many meetings in the UK and that actually less is more?
-
Should have proper highlights packages for every meeting. Would be 20-25 minutes. Would need to look professional with proper graphics and commentary, but IMO this is the only way you are going to get new viewers. Maybe even the creation of some introduction videos explaining the rules on the channel would help to get new viewers as well. There should also be some short form content on TikTok/Instagram regularly for top 5 heats of the week, best overtakes, etc.

What did Shroeck try to pursue?
-
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but maybe teams should have invested all of the money into the stadiums/land/facilities and then used the increased revenue on riders, rather than just going straight for the riders. This would also have prevented a lot of the issues we are having now of teams be kicked out of their stadiums or being priced out due to the increased price of land and shrinking revenues
-
I dont remember them trying it if I am honest, I am probably too young. I just always wondered why they didn't try and have one team per rider, then national leagues, cup competitions and continental competitions. Would add variety, crowds would increase when a polish team came over with the better riders, more broadcast deals, etc. Maybe I am living in a fantasy land, but at the moment governing bodies are competing against each other for race nights, riders etc, rather than working together to simplify and grow the sport
-
I have always found it strange the riders can ride for multiple teams across the continent. Always felt like it was one of the things that held speedway back. I know there is a lack of riders, but I am not sure why they haven't followed the model of most other sports where there are national and then continental competitions. Would also allow for cup competitions which would be a big boost to the finances of smaller clubs when the big riders ride against them in the cups

That was my thinking. Unfortunately I am one of the newer ones so my programme backlog doesn't go back far enough

Hadn't though of that..... Of course I have. There are a few websites, but even then there are lots of gaps. I have contacted the people that have run those sites as well. I was wondering if anyone may be able to help me find some more hidden data, or maybe even have some themselves already.

Hi Everyone, I am looking for some help with a project I am working on, specifically collating some historical results. I know there is some archived on the British Speedway website and speedway updates, but these only go back to around 2005. If anyone is able to give me some information of where I can find historical data to heat by heat level please let me know. Kieran

Sorry, another question. Can you combine multiple race winner bets?
