SGP coverage in UK for 2026

Oh no. I hope she hasn't taken Hancock with her... -
Simon Stead steps down

While I agree with your general point, I'd be interested to know what has made the biggest difference. Is it all of the additional fitness, psychology, etc., etc. or is it just the fact we now have 2 genuinely world class riders in an era where the top competition is a pairs one? Maybe the 2 go hand in hand, and Lambert and Bewley are where they are because of all the extras, but I think they'd probably be there regardless. We've won 2 SoN titles since its inception (one which was a bit fortuitous). It's an improvement on the past but it's about what you'd expect with the riders we have. -
The ticket prices don't bother me because I won't be going anyway. I do think it's mental that a child will be charged £93 more than another child sitting 10ft away. They'd probably argue (rightly) that people don't have to pay it, which is fair, but what are you actually getting for your £93 extra?

Ipswich Witches 2026
PersonalResponsibility replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
You say it's incredible but we should've seen it coming a mile off. As said, Premiership teams can fill their 3-7 with decent riders who are subsidised by Championship clubs, and Championship clubs can get 1/5s who are subsidised by their Premiership club. Everyone* benefits at the same time as saving every club some cash. It's the sort of thing speedway promoters dream of. *aside from fans, who have to watch the sport slowly wain over years and years. -
What about Northampton?

Although it is south of the Watford Gap, so he could make home meetings. -

The "professional" bit is no doubt the defence we'll hear (if we hear anything). It's also strange that the rule was brought in, yet how many riders have made comebacks? I think it's a good idea, but you'd have thought they'd heard whispers of at least a handful of riders wanting to come back. Seems not. -

https://sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/1233187/zuzel-wazna-decyzja-bradyego-kurtza-az-trudno-uwierzyc The Australian signed a contract with Belle Vue Aces , thus becoming the Briton's club partner. From the top eight of the World Championship, Jack Holder and Robert Lambert will also be seen competing for Great Britain. Must be Ipswich, surely. -
Glasgow shows the way
PersonalResponsibility replied to Wee Eck's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Come on, they're going to do something very special for the 500cc winner...doubtless including a nice sweetener to ride for Glasgow (if they're half decent). In the Glasgow sponsored Championship no less. -

I agree, but they were always going to take every possible precaution to ensure the big 4 are in Warsaw. Daft. -

Really? Germany don't have a single GP standard rider. If we can't beat a team of (probably) Huckenbeck, Blodorn, Riss and Wolbert on any track in the world, there needs to be serious questions asked. It's only the astronomically unlikely situation of Australia winning the SON, being seeded to a final already containing Poland, then Denmark/GB miraculously avoiding each other in the draw, that led to the likely final. Who knows what it could've been otherwise. -
What about Northampton?

That's alright, they'll be no worse off than 90% of other clubs in that case 😁 -
Championship KO Cup Draw
PersonalResponsibility replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Actually, I think that's why we've managed to avoid the regional 'coincidences' we usually get - stuff paying Linda Lusardi her £30 three times! -
Championship KO Cup Draw
PersonalResponsibility replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Bang on. There's a world of difference between being innovative or thinking outside the box and this. Can you imagine any other sport paying £27 for a Cameo of Linda Lusardi doing a draw for one of their competitions? Even if we forget that Cameo is used for p1sstaking videos more often than not...Linda Lusardi? Really? There are plenty of good ideas floated on here and social media, most of which would probably be genuinely good. This wasn't one. It makes no sense to think we should be positive about something because it hasn't been tried before. If next year's FA Cup draw is done through by Ulrika Johnson through Cameo, I'll come back here and admit I was wrong. We'll see. -

She's doing the Premiership draw. They wanted Melinda Messenger for the NDL but it didn't meet the minimum 30 seconds. -

A handsome, successful, wealthy, and savvy investor taking his club to the next level, somewhere they've never previously seen. Or Ryan Reynolds at Wrexham. They're not too dissimilar tbf. -

Bit easier when you're winning more often than not. Kemp's problem always appears to be when he feels he has no chance so gives up. -
I'm pleased they've changed the rule on the Championship Pairs Final, that'll stop the thousands on here protesting it... In all seriousness, the rule change on returning British riders is a decent idea. You couldn't really hope for much more from the rest, given the situation we're in.
-
Just a hunch, he doesn't strike me as that type of person judging by his past. I think speedway offers the best route as it's probably the one thing he's good at. I'm pleased he won't be signing for my club either way.
-
I'm also on the fence about it, because like you say, speedway is his only real hope of getting back on the straight and narrow. He ain't going to stay straight working in Poundland, let's be real. However, you can point to the fact that he was banged up while being a speedway rider, so how many chances do you give someone?

Do we need some new faces ?

You're right about the poor end to 2024. I think he had a poor start too, and a poor end to 2023 after a poor start, then a poor end to 2022, etc., etc. -
...yes, if I'd ordered a grasstrack calendar.
