  1. But isn't there a presumption that sportsmen stay in bubbles with their team mates/ fellow competitors - a model that doesn't work when riders ride for different teams in different countries.
  2. There are different limits for seated stadiums and outdoor events. So how do you work out a limit for, say Poole, which has an indoor grandstand/restaurant, an outdoor grandstand and outdoor standing viewing. My guess is that venues will agree capacity limits with local public health officials and that these will vary between 25 and 50% of maximum capacity (as happened with the few meetings that went ahead last season)
  3. I think it depends on the interpretation of rules, the current version of which none of us has seen. So the answer is - we have no idea, but I think a strong case can be made.
  4. I'm feeling more optimistic now, but travel restrictions must still be a worry.
  5. Both realistic and manageable, but we may yet be overtaken by events. It should be relatively straight forward for most teams to simply postpone the first couple of meetings. I imagine that the 1000 or 50% limit will mean that we continue to have admission by pre-purchased ticket. Aside from unforseen setbacks the biggest unknown is how much of a relaxation there will be on international travel restrictions.
  6. A very positive start. Max will be a big draw in the NL, Archie really impressed me in 2020 and after his efforts for Leicester Cubs I am a big fan of Josh.
  7. The FIM North American Final was held (see enotian's link) The AMA sanctioned National championship was not held. The SRA sanctioned National championship ( a Costa Mesa event) was not staged The US Open (an East Coast event) was staged (see https://www.speedwaybikes.com/res2020_o/Champion-20200906.htm ) Champion New York also staged something called the Outlaw US National (look who came third!! https://www.speedwaybikes.com/res2020_o/Champion-20201011.htm ) For work permit purposes only the first of these matters.
  8. 22 next month. https://www.speedwaybikes.com/rw/udillonruml.htm And unlike most of the American names mentioned here he should get a work permit.
  9. There is a table in the 1990 Peter Oakes annual. The competition encompassed all 1989 NL sides
  10. Try asking here: https://m.facebook.com/speedwaymuseum/?tsid=0.2794026078818468&source=result
  11. Although in practice most of the major matters are discussed beforehand and everyone knows what is likely to happen. (Why otherwise would Spooner and Hume have been released). So I am guessing there are six declared starters, although hopefully there are a couple more waiting in the wings that could still be accommodated.
  12. Maybe we should be promoting the virtues of speedway to the 'gluten free community'
  13. I can see four 1979 Sheffield riders in that team, so it looks like an augmented Sheffield team
  14. The biggest problem for the British domestic season is not starting, but keeping going. ( see for example spectators being thrown out mid session in the Australian open tennis and Leipzig having to stage their home leg in Hungary because Liverpool FC weren't allowed into Germany.) In some ways, the later the start the better, because it reduces the risk of short notice re-imposition of restrictions. Even then there are no guarantees ( what if a vaccine resistant strain emerges?) I suspect that with Cardiff the biggest problem is the inability to get cancellation insurance (which is what did for Glastonbury) to guard against such issues.
  15. No problem at all, unless a family member (say an uncle) was a member of the management committee. Oh whoops!
  16. A little fall out 5 years ago hardly seems sufficient reason to prevent Mountain riding for Lynn.
  17. Understatement. He has only ridden one senior meeting, and he is only 15.
  18. Simon Lambert was granted a testimonial in 2016, a season where he rode as an elite draft/fast track rider, so there is a precedent.
  19. Does this mean that the Premier League have given up on their reserve league?
  20. You have contradicted yourself. You assert the engines belonged to the BSPA and you assert that Godfrey gave them away. Godfrey is NOT the BSPA, so are you suggesting he appropriated BSPA assets to pass on to some mate in junior racing? (I don't think that was your intention, but it could be read that way)
  21. Repeating your erroneous statement doesn't make it any less wrong.
  22. You are conflating two separate rules. BP and Crump have both been away long enough to get reassessed, but don't qualify for an additional reduction for missing a year. Most obviously Crump rode in the British Final last year and Bjarne has ridden every season since he left Poole.
  23. Re the Reading Pairs, I have not one, but two (independently) filled in programmes. Both go for 9 and 5
  24. I can add 2009 10,652 2010 8,536 2013 9,086
