  1. My shortlist of riders before Copenhagen read; Greg Andreas Hans Nicki The two I don't pick get to the final, the two I do pick, don't!! Still, I've moved up the order without scoring any points. Oh well, roll on Cardiff.
  2. If only I had bet on all the rounds, I could have got in the top 10! Why oh why didn't I bet on those two on skybet as well! Thanks for running this Steve, looking forward to next year already. RT
  3. They come from talking common sense, something I've learn't isn't used by the powers that be! Harris was fantastic last night at Coventry, his last to 2nd battle was very reminiscent of how good Mark Loram & Joe Screen were at Bombers age. He is the next in line for us IMO.
  4. If I am paying my money to watch the GP, I want to see riders who WANT to be there, not ones who have managed to qualify, will never be as good as they once were and who are taking the place from someone who should be there. Loram may like to be in the GP (I'm just using him as an example) but who honestly thinks he would be up there with Crump, Adams and Andersen?? Okay, Bomber/Stead/King aren't quite up to the GP standard yet (IMO) but without the experience they never will be. King should've been in the British GP where Kennett was this year, with the 'decision makers' making poor decisions like that, what is the point discussing this? We will end up with Nicholls and Richardson next year (again) with Bomber and possibly Stead as reserves, hopefully Bomber above Stead in the reserve line up. Should the 'decision makers' actually sit back and think about things, they will realise they need to take extra time, discuss their thoughts with others and on occasions, read this forum for the advice they need! We need riders who will improve and develop, Richardson just doesn't have that oomph he needs, Scott has it he just has problems finding it sometimes! Stick Bomber in and you'll be guaranteed a rider who tries his hardest and rides good old fashioned speedway, not this pantomine bike racing we get at the moment! Rant over
  5. I have seen it for sale in the UK but between £14 and £22 a bottle, in Poland it's roughly £6. The Vodka is red and the labels are usually pink, although I have two different styles of label so there may be more than one brand. There is also a Honey Vodka which is a golden colour in a yellow labelled bottle, it's not as nice IMO, but very popular, it's called Kruypnik (sp?) (Krup-nik). Wisnowka is pronounced Vish-Nuff-Ka. Enjoy!
  6. I've been to Bydgoszcz twice and both time have been just off the 4th bend, before the grandstand. It isn't standing, it's benched all round (as far as I can remember), so you can sit, although if you get a giant in front you have to stand. We didn't have any problems, but were in a largeish group. There are a lot of Poles who enjoy a drink or two, but if you ask them nicely to not fall onto you, or spill their drink they are usually fine. If in doubt tell the Gollob is God and they will be your friend forever! I wouldn't have said avoid it at all costs, unless you have young children or frail or unsteady on the feet people in your party. It's by far the best for atmosphere at any of the Polish tracks I have been to, you'll never forget it. Have fun and if you want you can bring me back a bottle of Wisnowka (Cherry Vodka).
  7. Maybe Middlo thinks Ricky lacks ambition and prefers the steady plod through the season? Not wanting to 'overdo' it for a single meeting/event?
  8. Is there any reason why they don't have the u-15's going out in the interval? I think it would make sense from a fans point of view, at least people would get to see them, rather than missing them completely if they are out in the pubs meeting up with people? I would bet that the majority of the fans there would rather see the kids ride than Bonnie Tyler singing - or pretty much anyone that BSI could afford. Robbie Williams may get a bit of an interest, but I don't suppose they will ever stretch the budget that far will they!?
  9. For any of you wanting some alternative lyrics... Where’s the good Lee Rico gone and are there any Gods? Where’s the great Hot Shot Scott to fight the rising odds? Isn’t there a Great Brit upon a fiery steed? Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of all their speed We need a hero We’re holding out for a hero till the end of the night He's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast And gotta be British tonight We need a hero We’re holding out for a hero till the morning light He's gotta be sure and he's gotta be soon And he's gotta beat Crumpie tonight Crump tonight Somewhere on the 4th bend Steady makes a pass Just before he hits the fence he cuts back with some class Racing on the last lap and hearing all the cheers It’s gonna take a very rich man to buy him all the beers We need a hero We’re holding out for a hero till the end of the night He's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast And gotta be British tonight We need a hero We’re holding out for a hero till the morning light He's gotta be sure and he's gotta be soon And he's gotta beat Crumpie tonight Crump tonight
  10. Wiggy - A true English sportsman, who will never be forgotten. He was a world-wide name on longtack, shale & grass and someone who was not only respected for his racing but also for who he was and what he stood for. His distinctive green leathers and white wheels made him so easy to see when you were stood on the 2nd bend at a grasstrack, he always had a smile on his face and seemed at home on the rostrum. Real sadness was felt when he was taken away from the sport he loved and the people who loved him. May he be resting in peace, with a smile on his face.
  11. It's nice to see Mick passing on his expertise to the kids. Even if they all only take away one piece of information from the day, they will be well on there way. I can't think of a better person to teach them.
  12. Now I have seen the crashes I can understand how they have all had such awful injuries.
  13. I know that the pit marshalls give out sheets to mechanics telling them that they aren't allowed on to the track. However...if the medics need space to treat the rider then clear all the other people away (the start marshall, the announcer, the track graders) all who were around the lad last night, doing nothing but stare. His dad/mechanic whatever (especially at the young age they are) should be allowed to see how he is, to know if he needs to pack the van up and get gone. What would you want to see if you are 15 and laying on the track after a nasty accident? Your mum or dad? I know I would.
  14. I was upset to see the pit gate marshall not allowing the dad/mechanic of the injured riders on to the track. It is a rule implemented at Sheffield for the Premier League team, but when you have Kids riding, crashing heavily and needed hospital treatment don't you think the rule can be relaxed? Hope all the riders involved are ok.
  15. Arrived ok, heavy rain all day tuesday, but brightened up today. Been into Legends Bar this afternoon and asked them if they can show the British Final on sunday night, no problem so long as the cricket has finished by then. Maybe see some of you there
  16. Or how about the alternative version; God save the great Joe Screen Long live the great Joe Screen God save Joe Screen Send him victorious Happy and glorious He's gonna win it all, one day God save Joe Screen
  17. Someone that I know actaully takles 5 different coloured pens to meetings and he fills in falls in one colour, tapes offences in another etc etc, now that is scary.
  18. Touted by everyone that wasn't Polish. One of my friends out there couldn't believe that he was in the u-21's and said he was awful - looks like he was right.
  19. That's absolutely awful that they had to do that. I don't see why children have to pay the same as adults. It was bad enough at Cardiff having to pay £40 for a 7 year old. He enjoyed it yes, but it's a bit expensive.
  20. The polish manager realised he was too boring and dropped him! Just my opinion.
