  1. . . . and congratulations from me. I well remember the 1998 season and the winning Witches team including one certain resident of my town, Bydgoszcz. I am so glad that the 2025 winning Witches team also includes one certain resident of Bydgoszcz, who not only won the Polish Ekstraliga Championship title, but also the British Premiership League title. Up the Witches ! ! !
  2. Many thanks for guiding me in the right direction. I very much appreciate it as I don't have access to TNT Sport1.
  3. Any online link for today's match at Foxhall for people who living outside Britain have no access to TNT Sport ?
  4. So you agree that your talk about BZ's "high appearance fee" ... is nonsense. You also accuse BZ of not "being seen outside of his country promoting Speedway", Where would you like him to be seen? In Argentina? France? Which other countries, apart from Australia, have speedway tracks. Oh yes, there is also league racing in Britain, but he is already riding in two leagues. One could say there are also individual event. I would say there were. Where is Internationale, Pride of the East, etc., etc. As far as BZ's "inability to communicate with anybody outside of Poland" is concerned ,why all the Extraliga English speaking stars communicate only in English whilst they ride and earn big money on Polish tracks. If you want him to do "interview during GP on the world feed", ask then Abi Stephens to interview him in his native language and then translate (on the spot) into the language you understand. That's how it done in the Polish League.
  5. ... and that's what I like in speedway...ability to RACE...to pass opponents during a given race. Jumping from the gate and taking the best lines on the track is also fine...but it doesn't beat for me ability to pass from (last, third, second) and win the race
  6. Are you sure that "his appearance fee is so high that nobody can afford to book him" ? , if so, can you give us the amount he is asking for. If not, what basis do you have to presume so?
  7. "Maybe Hans Nielsen would try again, Ole Olsen could get a chance, or Tony Rickardsson would fight Bartosz Zmarzlik for a seventh title?" - reports sportowefakty.pl It's time to end the wild cards! They distort the essence of the competition. Let's go back to the founding fathers' idea and run the Grand Prix Challenge according to their philosophy. For example, let's let eight riders remain in the series, and all the rest who don't make it will get a chance to compete in the Challenge tournament. We'll also add the other half of the qualifying players.
  8. Well said ! Your are the best informed member of this Forum on what's going on in Polish speedway. Keep it up!
  9. Looks like Dudek’s engine and the one used by Kurtz tuned by Ashley Holloway is quicker than Kowalski’s engine used by Zmarzlik
  10. Spring races were introduced at the beginning of this season... why ? ... to stop Zmarzlik winning the 6th. Also, everyone knew them as part of the new scoring system. Zmarzlik proved to be faster there than Kurtz. You better ask yourself by what kind of "rule" Kurtz got direct place in the final instead of Lebedev who beat him in heat 17
  11. “Geographical birth place”…that is what is wrong with the current SGP…I wish we had one day world final with previous eliminating rounds.
  12. (...)"The most important factor is cost savings. The new type of tire will be significantly harder than the current ones, and therefore several times more durable. With the same type of tire, English Premier League players can cover up to five races on a single tire. Furthermore, when ordering tires in bulk, the price will drop from the current 500 złoty to as much as 300 złoty per tire. Great words of appreciation are due to Krzysztof Cegielski from the "Metanol" speedway riders' association and the coach of the Polish national team, Rafał Dobrucki , because they were the initiators of this change."(...)
  13. Betard Sparta Wrocław speedway riders Maciej Janowski and Artiom Łaguta will not be competing in Wednesday's Danish league match. Varde Elitesport reported that Sparta has blocked the riders from competing, although the Polish club has a slightly different opinion. The team from Lower Silesia suffered a heavy defeat in the first semifinal match of the PGE Ekstraliga on Sunday against PRES Grupa Deweloperska Toruń (38:52). Three days after this defeat, the Wrocław-based team was scheduled to ride in the Danish league – in a match between Region Varde Elitesport ( Łaguta ) and Fjelsted Speedway Klub ( Janowski ). Ultimately, both starts will not take place, as Region Varde announced on social media: " It has just been confirmed that Artiom Łaguta's Polish club will not release its riders to play in other teams. This decision applies to both Region Varde Elitesport and Fjelsted Speedway Club in this round. Fjelsted had an agreement with Maciej Janowski, who, like Artiom Łaguta, rides in the Polish league for Wrocław. Region Varde Elitesport is now working intensively to find a replacement for Artiom Łaguta," the statement reads. We asked the Wrocław club about the reasons for this ban. They responded that the riders had not been banned. The club had made them aware of their current season status and that additional commitments were unreasonable. After reviewing the club's arguments, Artem Łaguta and Maciej Janowski reportedly found them justified. The rematch between Betard Sparta and PRES Grupa Deweloperska will take place on Sunday, September 7th. The Wrocław team won the regular season match 56-34 at home and will certainly do everything they can to achieve a similar result. (copied and translated from sportowefakty.pl)
  14. Yes there will be. For the start Przyjemski is going back to his home town Bydgoszcz, and Kubera is rumoured to go to Zielona Góra
  15. Thanks for your response. Why PolskiZuzel?…as born and raised in Bydgoszcz I support the local team Polonia and Polish National Team, although living with my English wife in Stowmarket I also support Witches since the time Magda L. brought Tomasz Gollob and other Polish riders to Ipswich. Now-days Emil Sayfutdinov, living in Bydgoszcz, carries on where Tomasz G left off.
  16. The legendary Polish former National speedway team coach, Marek Cieslak, commented in sportowefakty.pl results of Poland’s sport Personality 2024 plebiscite announced yesterday. When mentioning fifth placed achieved by the 5-times world champion, Bartosz Zmarzlik, and problems with speedway, Marek Cieslak said this: It is a complex issue. We need the successes of our national teams, which we do not have. We have achieved the best league in the world, which has great viewership. The problem is that the Grand Prix series cannot keep up with this at all, and it is folding down. This is visible, for example, in the locations. There are no new ones, and in addition, large stadiums are slowly disappearing. The FIM and the promoter Discovery are responsible for this. In addition, the best riders in the world do not ride in the series. The recent nominations for wild cards and their translation into geographical terms are a joke. All this means that the Grand Prix arouses interest in fewer and fewer countries. I have the impression that even here (i.e. in Poland) it does not generate the same emotions as it used to. If it were, the successes and the phenomenon of Zmarzlik would have a much greater echo in the country. Do you think that it is time for Artiom Łaguta and Emil Sajfutdinov to return to the series? Initially I was against them, but now I think they should be in the series. Zmarzlik would also benefit from the presence of Artiom Łaguta or Emil Sayfutdinov. I have no doubt that he would still win, but then his successes, this rivalry with the Russians would arouse much more emotions. In this way, the audience would be larger. Please remember what rivals Tomasz Gollob had. He had to compete with Tony Rickardsson, Greg Hancock, Billy Hamill, Jason Crump, Mark Loram, Hans Nielsen, Leigh Adams, Ryan Sullivan and many other great stars. Each of them had papers for the title. Now the series lacks such figures.
