  1. They are not so bad as they make out are they Joanne :?: Well maybe Rico isn't Or were they just behaving in front of you :?: There was a definite picking up of the pace once Joanne left. And once Doc left there were certainly some <snip-worthy> incidents. I'll see if I can persuade Tomek to post his piece on here so the Forum members who don't view Yahoo-groups can read his excellent prose. Nice to meet up with Joanne and Doc. Midnight-Lady - do you think the Moderators on here will be happy for the yahoo-groups version to be posted on here ? Rico
  2. Funnily enough Rico I heard a couple oflasses said the same thing at Cardiff :clown You have a fantastic time too.....I wont say behave yourself ;-) Look forward to hearing ALL about it when you get back :? Too snipping right And the lasses concerned were of course involved with mało Tomek ;-) Rico
  3. Would you like a spoon to help with your stirring Lioness I am sure Joanne and the others when they return will be wondering what all the fuss was about Tomek and myself    Rico (Getting up at 5.30 am ) but it means we are at the airport nice and early for a loosener or two
  4. Many many thanks Hanne - very kind of you to gather that information for us. I think I am going to take my chances and buy tickets on Saturday - there didn't seem many good areas to choose from on the e-billeter site. We will head up to Parken on Saturday once we have recovered sufficiently from a Friday evening in Copenhagen. Thanks again Rico
  5. REPROBATES ! We just like to have fun. Don't go listening to Midnight Lady, Lioness. Rico
  6. This time I think I'll check the currency after I tried to spend some spare Kroner in Sweden, which unfortunately was all of the Danish variety Can any of our Danish chums confirm that tickets will be on sale at the stadium on Friday and Saturday, or is there somewhere more central to town to purchase them. Also what time are the tickets on sale - thanks in advance. Rico
  7. Rico I don't know you but I "lurk" on the Yahoo board and I do very much enjoy reading Tomek's accounts of your partaking "in a nice cup of tea and a chat" on your GP weekends BUT .... what you do is actually planned ? ;-) :?: Sir Lunchalot We need to find out where's hot and where's not . Believe it or not Tomek is one for having a (and he likes to put on a Scottish accent and roll his rrrrrrrrr's at this point) Ready Reckoner for currency conversion. Denmark he seems happy with just dividing by 10 though and thinks he can cope with it. This year, other than Copenhagen, we have been to the tracks / cities that we are planning to go to before so the 'been there, know what to do' hats are on. Maybe that's why I am suggesting we are a little unprepared for our adventure in Copenhagen. I'm sure there will be some tales to be told on yahoo-groups after the weekend and hopefully some (snips) Rico  :-o
  8. That looks like 3 of us at least (+partners in crime where appropriate). Shalewhale I trust this has been resolved in good time for you Anyone else fancies showing their face, don't be shy now ! I just need to check that my t-shirt with "73" on it isn't lying at the bottom of the washing basket  Hopefully Joanne and Doc will know each other by the end of their flight over. Safe journeys to all. Rico
  9. Doc, It's definitely the Ibis Copenhagen Crown Hotel - check www.copenhagen.the-hotels.com/ibis-copenhagen-crown-hotel.htm or www.hotel-booker.com/dk/copenhagen/crown-hotel-copenhagen.html If you put Ibis Copenhagen Crown Hotel into a search engine it finds it no problem. Don't be scared of us Scots - its the bloke from Northern Ireland that will be with me that you need to worry about Rico
  10. I'm on the 7.15 am flight from Stansted. Just look out for the mad Scottish woman Looks like our Forum get together is getting bigger And you may wish to look out for the mad Scottish bloke ! Anyone that is going, would it be unreasonable to suggest meeting in the bar of the Ibis Copenhagen Crown Hotel, say around 7pm on the Friday evening. All I can say about recognising me is that allegedly I look facially like John Postlethwaite of BSI (I don't necessarily subscribe to that theory) - I will wear a t-shirt with a big "73" on the front. Given that I don't really know anywhere in Copenhagen I am at a loss to suggest anywhere else. If anyone else can think of anything better then feel free to shout. Rico
  11. Doc, Our flight is 0945 on Friday morning from Heathrow to Copenhagen - flight is operated by SAS. Returning Sunday around 1500 hours. We still haven't sorted our stadium tickets out yet though - no panic I'd imagine ! Sounds like an official forum meet may be in order ! Rico
  12. No Joanne - we gave up on Stanstead after some long long journeys there and back last year - we are flying from Heathrow to Copenhagen with SAS. Only a 40 minute coach run to Heathrow from where we are. Rico
  13. Joanne, At the moment we are going into this one a little blind. I have done a bit of reading on virtualtourist.com but haven't prepared for the trip as thoroughly as I would normally. Sometimes a little adventure doesn't go amiss. We are staying at Ibis Copenhagen Crown Hotel, which appears to be quite central, travelling out Friday morning, returning Sunday afternoon. Give me a shout if you fancy a couple of pre-meeting drinks with some scary (we aren't really) company. Always nice to put a face to a name. Regardless, have a great time. Rico
  14. Joanne, Try http://www.nbi.dk/TOOLS/Cph-map3.jpg - Parken appears to the north of the town. For other info I always check out www.virtualtourist.com - you get info from travellers on all aspects of the town as well as the locals opinion of their own town. One other tip though. Be careful if you bump into two blokes called Tomek and Rico, they're trouble If you read yahoo groups speedway list you'll know what I mean  Rico
  15. On an Australian licence. Don't know if that's been held against him (or the fact he couldn't cut it in the GPs in the past). Rico Think Richie meant Zagar not Ferjan!! Ferjan has been the form rider in Slovenia lately, apologies for any confusion. Too many Matej's spoil the broth ????? Rico
  16. On an Australian licence. Don't know if that's been held against him (or the fact he couldn't cut it in the GPs in the past). Rico
  17. I have read on another forum that Zagar is a wildcard for Slovenia - can't recall who the other one is, but it isn't Ferjan. Rico
  18. Take it you will be a Coventry fan then ? The whole studio agreed that the decision with Sullivan was correct. Lee had baulked Ryan to the back early in the race imho. I felt sorry for Lee as he was going well in the race and to have to come straight back out in the next race was tough. As for Hancock, the first few camera angles were inconclusive, however the last one they showed proved somewhat damning and confirmed the right decision was made. Rico
  19. Bardzo dobrze ! Mowiem polskiego bardzo nie dobrze - but I try ! Kate - you keep going. I have been taking Polish lessons and it's good to encourage others to learn your wonderful language. Mam na imie Piotr - jestem szkotem I am off to Stockholm to cheer on Tomek and Pepe tomorrow - I have been to Poland many times for zuzel - never Zielona Gora though. Gollob jest moj bohater ! Czescz ! Sto lat etc Rico
  20. I heard back from SVEMO today. Buses are running from the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm from 1400 hours - last bus departs at 1630 (which apparently will get you to the stadium just at start time). I don't know how frequent the buses are going to be, but thats the first and last times. The bus costs 100 sek - around £7. The announcement on the sgp website did say you needed to let SVEMO know you were going to use the bus service so I'd still advise you to get in touch with them. If you can't get through on the phone then use the e-mail address I gave. Good luck - we set off tomorrow morning, so you won't hear any more from me on the subject after tonight. Rico
  21. We're in the same boat. I tried a few times to get through and was actually on hold to speak to the ONE person who is dealing with the buses. I got cut off after over 8 minutes waiting  I ended up e-mailing the lady directly and if I haven't heard anything back by later on today I'll be trying again. The e-mail address on the site is pernilla.larsson@svemo.se although previous correspondence with her shows it as pernilla@svemo.se - assuming I do hear back from them I will post on here what I find out. It looks like from www.svemo.se that the Avesta stadium has the capacity for 2000 seating and 8000 standing. Also looks like they have chopped the ticket prices a bit as it looks like 450kroner for a seat and 300kroner for the terracing. I fear pandemonium on Saturday night ! Rico
  22. taken from www.speedwaygp.com Good to see that they are arranging transport for the fans based in Stockholm. 26-05-03 CHANGE OF VENUE FOR NEXT GRAND PRIX Benfield Sports International (BSI) today announced they have been forced to change the venue of the FIM Meridian Lifts Swedish Speedway Grand Prix on 31 May from the Olympic Stadium, Stockholm, to the Avesta Stadium, Brovallen, Sweden. Rolf Sundberg, Secretary General, SVEMO, commented: “We have had no choice but to move the Grand Prix to Avesta as it appears the strike action here in Sweden will not be over for some time yet. We have now put our contingency plans into action and the Grand Prix will be held 150km from Stockholm at Avesta Stadium, Brovallen. “Tickets already bought for the event are still valid and we have made special transport arrangements for fans wanting to travel from Stockholm to Avesta Stadium. Supporters who wish to take advantage of this transport offer must call SVEMO on +46 11 23 10 80 to reserve a seat. A full ticket refund will be given to those who have already purchased tickets but cannot attend the event and his can also be arranged by contacting SVEMO on +46 11 23 10 80 before Saturday.” John Postlethwaite, Chief Executive, Benfield Sports International, said: “Obviously it is disappointing that for reasons totally beyond our control the Grand Prix will not be held at the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm. I would like to take this opportunity to thank SVEMO and the people of Avesta for arranging the Grand Prix to be held at an alternative venue at such short notice. “I’m sure the evening will be a great success and I can assure all broadcaster and sponsor partners that our usual high quality broadcast for the event will be fully in place. I think this is another example of the resilience of people in the sport of speedway who have a never-say-die attitude in the manner in which we run our sport. I’m looking forward to a great night of Grand Prix action on Saturday.
  23. Party (and believe me, we are going to ) of 5 heading out 2 weeks tomorrow to Poland. Staying a couple of nights in Warsaw then heading down to our base camp in Krakow where we are staying for 5 nights. As for the GP, I hope Gollob puts in a good performance - he doesn't seem as well liked down there as he is in his home town. The crowd were not happy with his performance last year. Hopefully the track will be better than last year. It will have had another 8 months to bed in so hopefully it won't rut up in the same way it did. Prediction - Crump, Gollob, Rickardsson, Richardson and 7 x 5 hangovers. Rico
  24. Or better still Rico will come to you 8) Bydgoszcz - aaah speedway heaven ! We fly into Warsaw (worth a couple of days sightseeing for sure) either on Lot or BA, depends who is cheapest at the time. Train from Warsaw Central to Bydgoszcz takes around 4 hours (http://www.polrail.com/pkprozklad.html for timetables.) As for accomodation, we are booked into the Pod Orlem (http://www.hotelewpolsce.com.pl/podorlem.htm), a beautiful hotel, which is around £50 per room per night including breakfast. Other options are City Hotel (http://www.polhotels.com/Bydgoszcz/City/index2.htm) which is more modern and slightly closer to the track. Again this is around the £50 per room mark - this one does have the added advantage of being above the club where all the riders etc go after the meeting (I include our party in the etc ) In the past I have stayed at the Ratuszowy (http://www.polhotels.com/Bydgoszcz/Ratuszowy/) which is a bit cheaper and far more basic than the others I have mentioned, but we had no complaints - depends on your taste. There are plenty of other hotels, just give the web a search and you should come up with something to suit. You'll probably find some of the hotels fully booked for the GP, but rooms in the good hotels usually come available late on. As someone else has mentioned there is usually an Extraleague match on reasonably locally on the Sunday - Torun is apparently a beautiful town and well worth going to early (unless like last year when it was rained off - we asked the taxi driver to take us back into town, but he dropped us back off at the train station, so we headed straight back to Bydgoszcz.) Have also been to Pila which is about the same distance as Torun. If you need anything specifically give me a shout. The Rough Guide or similar also comes in handy when over there. Poland is a good place to go - I guess that's why I keep going back. Roll on Katowice ! Rico
