  1. HiDavek. I run the Sheffield Speedway Official Facebook site. Any constructive comments as to how I can improve the offering will be gratefully received. We've all got the Tigers at heart, and I for one want to increase the levels of support so that our great sport continues and grows in the City for the foreseeable future
  2. The logic is that the Stead / Haines and Wells / Hall combos are strong, Pressure is on them to deliver, and if Facu traps we get damage limitation. It's a risk, but then it's the only thing that can be done at the moment. As they say in Japan - we are living in interesting times!
  3. Rye House WERE fined for fielding an under strength team. Whilst Nelson was banned, he was still named in the Rye team, and therefore Rye went into the match with 5 riders (having already used RR for Bunyan)
  4. Very best wishes to Jason for a speedy recovery. That was a very nasty looking crash. I think it is worth Mr Silver watching the DVD. Could do with GRT Media sending him a copy.
  5. REVAMP! Just noticed they've dropped Seery's Statistics and the Angus Kix Glamour League.
  6. Blimey! How long ago was that then? over 40 years certainly!
  7. Yes I had the same issue. The one thing I don't like about the Eurosport coverage is the hand overs from the studio guy to the commentary team. There is always a clumsy gap followed by them picking up Nigel or Kelvin half way through a sentence. Personally I would prefer it if they stayed with the commentary team throughout. The "Studio" guy doing the recaps doesn't really add anything to proceedings, and it does annoy me when he talks about riders wearing "hats"!!
  8. Regardless of whether he took Nicki out, if you watch the replay closely, the red lights were on when they first came together, meaning by the time they crashed the race had already been stopped.
  9. I don't see why this issue has got people back on the "this is typical of British Speedway" bandwagon when those running British Speedway requested for a continuation of the previously applied rule only to be over ruled by the FIM and BSI. It's a real shame as, whilst the British championship has its own prestige, the qualification for Cardiff (and in the old days the next round of the World Championships) always added extra spice to the event. I don't like all these nominated Wild Cards being applied for big events. Take it to the ultimate conclusion and the World Champion will be a nominated wild card in a few years.
  10. From the Website 2013 Season Tickets are based on a minimum of 20 Home meetings to reflect the lower numbers in the Premier League competitions but bring added value with additional savings at Owlerton Stadium and reduced admission at other clubs on an affiliated basis. Car Park All season ticket holders will receive a 50% discount on car parking, a saving of £20 over the minimum number of meetings and is subject to space being available, there is no reserved or guaranteed parking so first come first served Tiger Tokens Every ADULT SEASON TICKET (excludes concessions) will receive a Tiger Token with a face value up to £3.00 that may be spent at any of the stadium bars or to purchase raffle tickets. This represents a saving of £60 over the minimum number of meetings and a saving of £80 when used in conjunction with the car park saving. This offer is guaranteed for season ticket holders on each occasion that the season ticket is used we will from time to time apply this promotion to Adult turnstile admissions. Affiliated Clubs We are in the process of negotiating reduced admission with other clubs that will allow season ticket holders admission to other Premier League clubs for a target price of £10 for all classes, the discount will not apply when Sheffield are the visitors. A list of affiliated clubs will appear on the website and Race Card in due course. Semi, PLRC and International aren't Sheffield Meetings so the ticket won't be valid. On the other hand if you park in the car park and but a drink you'll save £80 on last season's prices. Sounds pretty good to me. Cue people who don't drive and don't go in the bar.................. Actually Spinny, I don't disagree with you on the quality of the winners, just our potential to record an epic fail! Previous winners of the Top Gun or Amateur Meeting or Cream of the conference going back to 97 are: James Birkinshaw (beat Simon Stead and David howe into 2nd & 3rd) Adam Allott Paul Lee Ben wilson Josh Auty Adam Roynon Darcy Ward Taylor Poole Gary Irving Not a bad roll of honour, and proof if proof were needed to anyone who doesn't turn up that there are stars of the future in those events
  11. Have a word with yourself Spinny! OK if the next Darcy Ward wins it but with our luck it'll be the next Burt Ward. then we'll be stuck with Robin at reserve for a season! The correct answer to what do we get out of it is "one of the best race meetings of the year, almost without fail!"
  12. Race day was announced in the press several weeks ago as Thursday
  13. Not sure where people like this get off on this crap!
  14. Don't agree. If they'd announced season tickets at the same time as Joe and Steady and then signed the others, everyone on here would have gone on about them having mislead supporters into buying tickets. They're in a no win situation.
  15. Greg Hancock Race Suit now for sale on Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330853458501?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649
  16. The announcement at STAaRS was that they were talking to Ricky but hadn't spoken to Rich. They announced Thursdays a few weeks back in the Comic The season ticket prices won't be announced until they have finalised the 7
  17. Perhaps I should have explained. If Richard was, say an 8 point rider at Elite level, then based on the current conversions 60% would make Jake an 8 pointer at PL level and 40% would be 5.33. I'd settle for that! In fact he only needs to be 22.5% as good as his dad for him to perform to his assessed average!
  18. And don't forget WE are in the second tier of Speedway! He doesn't need to be as good as his dad! 60% would be amazing. 40% would be acceptable. Surely the thing is that he has someone in his corner who has been there seen it done it AND got the T shirt. Funny thing is Sheffield get criticised for recycling their asset base every year and then when they try something different guess what!
  19. your alcohol affected memory is quite correct. In fact James and Andre were the only Tigers to beat a Rocket all night! I seem to remember we weren't so bothered about the result that night as none of us thought we were going to win. Seem to remember Edberg riding round in his Jock strap. Should have rode a bike . Boom boom! BTW didnt we finish second in the play offs in 2010 as well? With that fantastic comeback against the monarchs?,
  20. Slight correction! He made his debut for SHEFFIELD on his 16th Birthday the season before he signed for Scunny, so we'd heard of him cos he'd been riding second halves there every week!!
  21. You're right of course, but those who were at the STAARs meeting the other night will have heard how parlous the situation is. They have a 3 point strategy for survival. 1. Win at home, 2 build the asset base, 3 control the finances. This season is about guerrilla tactics for survival, and that means winning at home to keep the several hundred more that go to HOME meetings happy. The view shared at STAARs was that you won't get a better rider round Owlerton on an average as low as Richard's (which obviously has the downside of his away form in the past). If this is the last throw of the dice they HAVE to win at home and anything else is a bonus. Not great but reality.
