  3. Terrible news if correct..........such a waste.
  4. There's no doubt that Barney Kennett was/is Mr Canterbury Speedway, but I think even Barney would accept that Mike was the better rider. On the subject of investing in Mike, the story goes that Steve Koppe actually wrote the cheque which took Mike from Glasgow to Canterbury when they (Glasgow) objected to him lining up for the Crusaders at Glasgow in 1978. How true that is, I don't know, but knowing Mr Ma............oh no, we've been there before haven't we Shazz?
  5. In my view, and I believe the statistics back me up, Mike was the best rider ever to represent Canterbury. It's good to hear he's doing OK, but have you any idea what his old 'mucker', Denzil Kent is doing nowadays?

Can anyone help with the time for the race-off between Barry Briggs and Peter Craven in heat 21 of the second round (at Southampton) of the 1963 British Final, and the times for heats 21 and 22 of the 1986 British Final please?
  7. Worried about the libel laws Parsloes?
  8. This is the Danish League table for 2001, when it was in 3 team tournament format: 2001 Danish Open League Table Team..Meetings..Wins..League Points..Match Points 1..Holsted..9..5..330..21 2..Outrup..9..4..349..21 3..Brovst..9..3..320..19 4..Herning..9..3..335..19 5..Slangerup..9..3..333..17 6..Kaparna..9..3..307..17 7..Gustrow..9..0..255..12 Brovst and Herning had the same number of 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, and the same number of match points. Herning had more league points than Brovst, but Brovst went through to the play-offs. Why?
  9. This is the old track at Canterbury which is now sadly covered in 'designer flats'.

Green Sheet averages, since their introduction have always been exclusively league meetings, however many books and magazines carry averages calculated from all official meetings, which naturally include KO Cup matches, and in seasons such as 1987 for example, teams raced once in the league and once in the League Cup so all meetings are usually included. I believe the late Bryan Seery was the first statistician to calculate averages and always included bonus points .......it's only in the last year or two that bp's have been excluded from team building averages, but even now they are included in official averages.
